Changes that occurred on 11/25/24 are not reflected in the video itself, but in the notes below. 11/25/24 Updates not reflected in the video: 4969, 4998, and 5006 are now at MJQ (20 MJQ XE40s in total), 49/60 XE40s are on MTA property. Next Gens 4352/4359 (LGA) were retired, as well as 4546 from JFK. 51 NGs remain at LGA, while 17 NGs remain at JFK. MTA BC Prevost 1630 entered service on the QM7 (College Point) today At 2:27, *Quill has 20 XE40s. At 8:06, when I refer to the 4000s at Fresh Pond being retired, I am specifically referring to 4068-4069. All other remaining 4000s there are still in service. 49 out of the MTA's 60 needed XE40s have been delivered, with 20 being at MJQ (some are in rotation to Charleston), 25 at Grand, and 3 at Kingsbridge. One is still at the JFK Vendor iirc. As 30 more Coneheads were delivered between my last Update and now, and around 30 Next Gens were retired, 257/308 MTA Bus LFS Diesel Coneheads are now delivered to their respective depots, while around 144 Orion VII Next Gens remain in service in the MTA's fleet, with around 82 of them being from MTA Bus.
In a sudden turn of events, 4378 from LaGuardia are now at Fresh Pond for revenue service. 4378 was at Fresh Pond a few days ago, but never ran. The former ran today on the F shuttle. These transfers are part of the A shuttle work in Janaury.
Mannnnn I can’t wait I love the content man so precise..I need to send you some photos cause I be catching the new fleets I caught 5003 on the M55 around the first run..and I need to know that beat in the featured photos section it’s 🔥..forget it I read the description again and saw the music name
I’m curious to know what could happen with 8714 since it’s been sitting at Castleton for a while not being in service. Who knows if it’s going to go to Jamaica or stay there. I’m also wondering about The Queens, Staten Island swap as both Jamaica and Queens Village are slated to get 60 Electric Buses from the 380 Bus Order coming in. Chances are they may give up all of their Coneheads when those buses arrive as Staten Island would likely use the Coneheads as a Stopgap when the 3Gs retire.
If 8714 stays, it'd be similar to 8356-8357 still being at Gun Hill. I doubt it would stay though, since 8309 and 8930 were just recently swapped. Castleton would likely trade that unit out in exchange for 8937
As i said, Castleton Depot never cares about their own buses. 14 Orion VII EPA10s are all out of service due to various issues. And i hope they'll take care of the Ex-New Jersey Transit MCI D4500CTs as they'll enter service soon.
Castleton is doing the same thing as Mitchell Field Depot, but atleast with them, they keep most of their Orion 7s off the roads on weekends to make them last longer.
@@dodge1515yes I’ve also seen the Orion VII 3Gs operate with their Engine Covers open as well. I’ve also even seen a Castleton Prevost with its cover open while crossing the Bridge.
@@dodge1515 Smart decision on Mitchel Field's part. I have noticed that too, when I'd check on the radar and find little to none of them out. Similar strategy to Queens Village when they still had Old Gens
@Techno-ov5ss Nassau is straight up Gillig country on weekends with a few XN40s here and there. When that next order gets in, the 2015 New Flyer XN40 CNGs (and maybe the 2016s too) will probably be grounded on weekends.
@@dodge1515 that’s true as there are a lot of them out there, I do expect NICE to get more in the near future after the 3Gs retire we may have discussed the possibility of NICE getting more XN40s in the future but there’s also a possibility that NICE could order more Gillig BRT+ CNGs too.
As of now, it would appear that some NG Hybrids from MTA bus Company are being transferred back to NYCTA. #4352, #4359, #4378, #4379, and #4382 are now back at various NYCT Brooklyn Depots with #4485 pending to return from ECH Depot as well. This is likely due to the upcoming A train shutdown in Jan 2025.
It’s definitely very great that the MTA is interested in wanting to have those Next Gen Orion 7’s stick around for a little bit longer. I definitely feel very amazed that the ex-NYCT Next Gen’s that were sent to MTA Bus Company are making their way back to NYCT. It looks like the MTA likes those buses which is why they don’t want to get rid of them yet. I have feelings that those buses are indeed considered iconic despite the fact that those buses have become unreliable. Even though the MTA is ordering new buses, I really think that some Next Gen’s should be preserved just in case the new buses have problems.
@@edwinpenafort8750 for sure and they should do that with the 3Gs too despite those as well being on their last legs. If anything the 187 Base Electric Bus Order is going to directly target all the Orion VII 3Gs, as the MTA wants to get rid of all their Orion Bus Fleet. Once the Base Order of 187 XE40s is done the it would mean the end of an era for the Orion Fleet for good.
Hmmm, iirc, I think I saw an XE40 headed down Nostrand Ave light on 11/01/24. I wasn’t able to snap a picture because I was already on a bus. Also, If you didn’t mention it, Ex-WF C40 #353 was sent to JG for use there, even sporting a Jackie sticker!
Interesting to learn that the SIM22 would be going to Yukon instead of Charleston. I thought it would go to Charleston as it fits into the depots sphere of influence with heavy express bus use on I-95 & W Shore Expy and in Southern Staten. I guess Yukon is the option because the depot is closer to the end of the route and it allows Yukon operators to learn to navigate I-95 and W Shore effectively I do believe Charleston should get the 22 and Yukon should take the 32 instead
I hate Coneheads. At the Hill On 188 St (Q17) They have a really hard time and the rear door is bad (gets stuck in open if bus is too crowded), and the seats are badly positioned

My guess is the MTA wanting Brooklyn to have fleet uniformity. The future Prevost order is only for MTA Bus, but there is a future order of MCI D45 CRT LEs planned for NYCT
@Techno-ov5ss ok. Here is my question. How is it going deal with fare evaders if the express bus has 2 doors. Usually express buses have to have the front door only open.
@@Surf_Marina That is a good question. They either a) might not be able to or b) implement Eagle Teams along the express routes, and/or on the buses. Farebeating doesn't seem to be as much of a problem on express routes, but that is because of the fact that their buses have traditionally only had one door
If LaGuardia needs 85 Novas, I would prefer to have 9163 & 9180 swap depots with 9187-9188. Also XD60 unit 5374 at Baisley Park should swap with 5385 at JFK. This would ease maintenance and tracking of buses. Just how are the depots able to make sure all buses are thoroughly maintained without losing count? Maybe they wanted to keep practicing after the Orion shuffle.
I heard that the WM4C express bus, which goes from White Plains to Midtown, will be discontinued at the end of this year, according to the MTA, right, Techno 7843?
