I am Egyptian and I lived 5 years in Tomsk where I graduated from uni, it's 4~5 hours away from Kemerovo. This video brought back a lot of memories about Siberia, I miss everything about Siberia, the people, the culture, the food (especially Borscht soup on a cold day when it's - 40 outside) and listening to batareika on a sunny day near Tom river while watching the sunset. Despite everything crazy going around in the world I consider Russia as my second home and can't wait to go back and visit every single place there. Send all the love to Russian people

My wife and I have been blessed to travel throughout Russia from 1994 to 2020. We’ve met some of the most wonderful people, stayed in the homes of host families and experienced deep and lasting relationships. We’ve travel from St Petersburg to Sakhalin Island, from Vorkuta to Volgograd and between. I’ve been in some very remote areas, on the taiga and tundra. It’s my hearts desire to be able to make the trip one more time before I go yo heaven. Thank you for your work!!

Great comment. Well said Sir. Moreover, I think pieces such as this exemplify the power of this 'new' TH-cam medium as a whole. A legacy TV station would never provide such content as this. I myself may never get to see Siberia, but the curiosity I have towards it would centre around the hour-to-hour realities such as streetscapes, local habits, pasttimes, supermarket experiences etc. - the mundane stuff, or as you put it 'how normal people live'. I have no cares for politics or propaganda.

A billions of buildings was destroyed. So it is not just a political shit It is about real life of people. Russia attacked my country and doing genocide here, these peoples going to Russia and then paying taxes there . This taxes is going for Cremlin to attack us. If you are Russian or you are living in Russia you can't just be as you are becoming a part of the system of genocide. It is very sad to see comments and videos like these.

@@katyakravchenko4141 During the Soviet era, there was a system of assigning students to work after graduating from universities and colleges, that is, a student at the end of his studies had to work for three years at the place of his assignment to work. A geologist from Kiev University easily got a job in Siberia, and a graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of Civil Aviation at the Tashkent Aircraft Factory. There were also various Komsomol construction sites where young people from all over the Soviet Union came to work, no one forced or forced anyone, everything was voluntary. There is no need to talk about repressed Ukrainians, this is not entirely true. After World War II, there were many convicted Nazi accomplices and military men who defected to the Nazis (SS Galicia, ROA, and so on), they were convicted by the court and sent to serve time in various regions, including Siberia, among them were not only Ukrainians, and representatives of all nationalities who inhabited the USSR. I'm Canadian, and when I went to Russia for the first time in 2014, what immediately struck me was how similar the flora was to home. Very nice city center with lights and ice sculpture, guess made by some artists like done in a competition. I still remember the sound of walking lower than minus 7 and we had sometimes -20 to -25 at wintertime as well. These days I dont understand how I survived my childhood. Remember coming home in the evening from bob sliding and the trouser was frozen standing alone in the corner. Spaceeba for a nice video. Reminded me of when I (an American) married my Russian sweetheart in Leningrad back in 1979. Even though it was legal back in Soviet times to marry a foreigner, it took two weeks to gain initial approval. Two months later the stonewalling began in earnest and after many long hours each day in the waiting rooms, a very nice lady in the KGB intervened on our behalf and we were finally married. It took my wife 8 long months of beauracratic hell to be able to leave the Soviet Union and join me where I waited in America. I was very blessed to have had her for 36 years as my wife and then 7 years ago she sadly passed away. Take care

Don't get your hopes up! Life in Europe will never be the same, the Americans have prepared Europe for the slaughter.
War is the easiest way to zero Europe. First, the war with Russia, sanctions and energy/ resource starvation, then the complete destruction of industry and the lawlessness of migrants.
Europe will die without options! Parasites Americans seek to postpone their demise by destroying Europe, destroying their parasite competitor.

I live 5 hrs, South of the Canadian border . Winter lasts six months and snow gets tiring. Right now we have so much one can not see well driving at intersections as piled so high. Roofs are in danger with the weight. It is o.k. but after holidays it gets tiring. People who like snowmobiling and skiing are happy. We ice fish also. The tradeoff is a lovely summer rarely need more than a fan and lower humidity. Snowmen are easy to make with a wet snow but so heavy to shovel. My back gets sore shoveling as I am a senior woman who lives alone but good exercise. The road clearing crews use so much salt on the roads it trusts out car bodies quicker. This is more snow than we have had in 25 yrs ,so unusual.

That Christmas light display looks amazing! Especially the ice sculptures.
Those outdoor markets look so cool! There aren't many markets around here in Saskatchewan except for the farmer's markets during the summer that sell fresh fruit, vegetables and baked bread and pastries.
    Happy New Year!

Fascinating video! I’ve always been curious about Russian culture etc. I’d love to visit Siberia in the winter someday. May our leaders find the ability to work towards world peace. War only fills the pockets of some evil elites. The people of the world deserve better. War is failure of leadership.

Don't forget to show us all the food you will have on New Year's - and - you guys should really come to Winnipeg, Canada in February some year because it may remind you of Siberia! -15C is not very cold at all. We're usually -20 or so and I think we might be a little bit windier. Anyway in February we have a Courier de Bois festival here with amazing ice sculptures, sled dog rides, tobogganing, and many, many artisans showing off their skills. Sometimes you can even take classes (my group teach wood carving) but there's beading, leatherwork, barrel making and a host of other things.

I had exact same bureaucratic issue last time I came to Russia in 2018. Me and my family are Lithuanian citizens, but have family living in Samara. We travelled through St Petersburg and Moscow for a week before driving to Samara where we ultimately stayed with our relatives. When we came to register in Samara, they told us the same thing that we had to register in the first 7 days (but we couldn’t because we didn’t actually stay in Moscow etc for the whole trip!). We then had to go to police and also pay a fine! Such non sense.

I ve heard the Russian minority is handled like shit in some Baltic countries so....

    • @juodagalvesniegena714
      @juodagalvesniegena714 ปีที่แล้ว +2

that's what happens when you ban/sanction a country and call it terrorist country and call for it's complete balkanization, what else did you expect? for them to welcome you in and not treat you as a terrorist when you carry out/support the killing of Dugina and the rest? Lithuania/Baltics has been barking at Russia for 30 years and causing hell for Russians in Baltics, just look at what happened with Russian/Belarusian embassies in Vilnius. It's like nazis complaining why they get a bad treatment, duh, your are nazi living in a nazi state.
Or when Russia will continue with their demilitarization of their boarderlines or okraina's you will cry like Ukrainians that you acted like kittens for the last 30 years? I live here,I watch Lithuanian tv,i listen to the radio every day,30 years not a single positive word about Russians, even before 2014 all I hear look drunk Russians, look Russians burning on STATE TV all news that came about Russia is about some tragedy, nothing diplomatic or about culture. No wonder Russians in Baltics are highest on suicide and alcoholism.Imagine being Lithuanian living in Lithuania and all you hear about your identity is ''stupid mongo1oid'' ''occupant'' ''go back to your country'' over and over and over, the last thing you would want to do is build a good life here, that's why 1.5 million left.
Also Lithuanians are well known for carrying out terrorist attacks/Maidan's,just look at their involvement in Ukrainian scenario and you will know who were those snipers on the roofs, the ex-VSD agents admitted on camera how they orchestrated the bloodshed in Maidan, same scenario with January 13 events, same people involved, funny how Maidan has same sniper scenario, same with both soviet soldiers and civilian protesters being shot on both sides, all covered up,no one went to jail except for soviet militarymen who were standing around waiting for orders from CIA stooge Gorby who later on lived in EU while regular soldiers for following HIS orders got 20 years. For Russian security any Lithuanian is marked red as a terrorist, same way as in America after 9/11 with arabs. Nothing personal, just what you did for yourself by barking at the wrong tree to please your masters.
