Finally got to see you out in the wild Dan, caught you on us 51 in TN on Friday, from the looks of it you were coming down after delivering that container. Stay safe driver
Dan Dan the professional step deck man. I don’t think that most people understand how rates are calculated. That includes many drivers. For me you are way better off with a step deck. Over the years you will sit less and get loads faster. Sometimes it’s about the rate and sometimes it’s about being in the right place at the right time and as we all know step decks can haul a bigger verity of freight. It doesn’t matter if your a step or a flat sitting means your not making any money. From my experience I sat way less with a step and the loads tended to pay better but not all the time. Steps are usually easier to load and faster to tie down because your not so high in the air so it’s easier to climb on. Not every load pays top buck. Some are not worth hauling but it’s better to get out of Dodge than to sit waiting for the perfect paying load. You gauge how your doing over a few months. But then you will have some quarters pay better than others. Dan works out there so he will do pretty good over a year. He is not your coffe shop story teller driver. Another great video Daniel, thanks for posting. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails to you and Bailey, D…
Dan, I wish I had the opportunity to have met you and Bailey when you came to Donna Texas. I’m the Fire Chief here I’ve followed you for several years and enjoy what you’re posting. You and Bailey be safe
I'm thinkin you will probably be putting the winter front back on when you come to Minnesota! -10/-16 wind chill the next couple of days!. Stay safe Danno!
RE:Winter Cover>>> Funny Story. I bought a 2024 Ford Maverick and behind the grill, in front of the rad is>>> SHUTTERS! I guess to accelerate the engine warmup for cleaner emissions. !
You have had the stepdeck for about 6 weeks. When you have had it for 6 months, then you can make a comparison . I pulled a step for 30 years with many different carriers. Always made a good living with one. You can't really look at the dollar, you have to look at it as another tool in the toolbox. Being diversified is the key in trucking. So you make the best with the one trailer you have. You will gain and you will lose some benefits. Just be smart and you can make money with any trailer. It's a business!!!!
Nice video, Dan. Allows us just a small insight on the daily grind of truckers out there. At least you didn't look out the window and saw what William Shatner saw on the Twilight Zone with your mechanical issues.
Since he leased with an Large Carrier those rates are set by Mercier. If he was running his own authority then Mr Dan would have more Rate negotiation say so
Yes and stupid people like you that think like that are the same ones complaining about the dime a dozen drivers bad may I add and companies you get what you pay for so enjoy it.
I agree 10 cents does not cover the cost of a specialized piece of equipment . It should be 40 to 60 cents per mile more. That exactly why I retired 2 years ago.
Not that it really matters , but jj's truckstop ... Malvern , that's where Billy Bob Thornton is from and parts of slingblade was filmed a little east Benton and Bryant area . AIN'T GOT NO GAS . Some parts of Burt Reynolds movies ( back in the day ) too . Bauxite Ar. in there too where bauxite/borax was/is mined.
Saw you going west on I40 around Brinkley Ar I think it was Sunday. I was going east. Was cool seeing the truck!

Good video Dan,
Profit margins are so slim if they are dickering for 10 cents per mile …tough gig, be safe out there 🎉

Laredo Traffic is the same now as it was 25 years ago.
Skateboard Express LARGECAR HAULIN
Don’t forget about “Boys Town”
Dan, Bailey wants to visit the Taco Trucks.
Good day, you don't look to impressed with Laredo. Be safe and hopefully the week get's better.
If don't mind me asking how many pieces of dunnage do you carry?
Make no mistake. The most $$ in trucking is made in Heavy Haul.
Less driving. More $$.
!
👍🏴👍🏴
How did you get by with 80,500 pounds and only had a third of a tank of fuel? I guess you could run on a eighth of a tank and use APU exemptions?
Have you noticed a difference in fuel mileage?
As usual 🙌🏼👍🏼
Dan, Who sets the rates?
Since he leased with an Large Carrier those rates are set by Mercier. If he was running his own authority then Mr Dan would have more Rate negotiation say so
It is pronounced - Armor- Elle

Please understand you're offering a specialized service at a normal rate. Stop.
Supply and demand …truckers, trucking companies are dime a dozen
Yes and stupid people like you that think like that are the same ones complaining about the dime a dozen drivers bad may I add and companies you get what you pay for so enjoy it.
