I have a 2014 mazda 6 with this drivetrain and have been very happy with it. He's right that the engine/transmission pairing is excellent. It's not fast, but its adequate, efficient and reliable. When all the manufacturers are using cvts it's nice having a conventional 6 speed

My parents just picked up a 2017 CX-5 GT with AWD. They're loving it so far. One thing I'm probably going to convince them to do is get the Apple Car Play/Android Auto package from Mazda. It's $200 and all that you need is to make sure the Media System is on the most recent update. The kit comes with more powerful USB ports since those services require it, so that would solve the weak USB charging system

great car indeed. the only thing i hate is that it takes you more often to the gas station not because its bad on gas but because the tank is too small ! gas actually gives u about 28 to 30

I really liked your review and video. What sold me were the multiple rubber seals around the car doors and in the boot that were added on in 2017 to combat wind and road noise, as well as providing security to the cabin. Honda, Nissan, and Toyota don't have all of these additional rubber door seals in their compact crossovers. Also I like how the back storage area is now entirely carpeted, to help quiet the cabin. All of these little things add up. I also highly recommend this to my friends who are looking at the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. I think this is a much better value.

The USB ports in the back do charge (they say 2A) so that's faster than regular USB ports. However, the USB port issue exists throughout all the Mazda range, I had to buy a 12 volt USB fast charger (Nonda) and it works just fine
    Great review thanks !

Mohd Pazli spcci in the 2019 mazda 3 base 2.0L will produce more power, with torque increased up to 30 percent and fuel efficiency by 20 percent. That is revolutionary change in the gasoline engine. It will match the acceleration of the mx-5.

Love this review. Everything said about the engine, transmission (not a CVT!), and driving experience is so true. The CX-5 is the best SUV in its class for the money. I just purchased a 2018 and love it. I've always had coupes and sedans and was a little hesitant to purchase an SUV since I love to drive but this vehicle made me change my mind. Feels like you are driving a sports car. The interior is the most upscale out of all of the SUV in this class. What he is saying about the USB ports and phone charging doesn't happen in my 2018. Maybe they fixed this?

How do you like the cylinder Deactivation feature starting with the 2018. It Takes it from a 4 cylinder to a 2 cylinder engine running on only 2 of the engines cylinders. It is supposed to save on the fuel. Some owners do not like it and seem to feel it will ultimately affect the engine. Any feedback.

I drove the CX-5 a few different times and thought I might go with a Hyundai Tucson but CX-5 it is. I traded in my 2019 VW Tiguan. I am sure I’ll be happy with this reliable Mazda for several years.

Personally I would take the Mazda 6 over a CX-5, especially if it is in FWD form. The car is lower, handles better, better mileage and better sound deadening. The only real reason why I see you prefer a CX-5 is the available AWD.

Or you know, having the additional cargo capacity/ versatility if you need to load or transport larger objects. More interior space for children in car seats. There are several reasons why a person would get the CX-5 as opposed to the Mazda 6. Also the CX-5 is quieter than the Mazda 6.

Topher, the fact that the rear heat seater controls are in the foldable armrest doesn't bother you? I think it is insanely annoying. Whenever you have to fit 3 passengers in the backseat, and you want two of them to have access to heated seats, how are they supposed to turn them on? Mazda isn't the only manufacturer that does this. It is really annoying. Maybe you have a way of giving them some feedback on that.

All these car companies seem to have a fetish for annoyingly placed screens.

You'll love the interior that looks so much more expensive than it really costs. And I truly love the way it drives. Here's a hint though. The CX-5 doesn't really upgrade too much from year-to-year. I don't really see a need to buy a 2020 as long as you get a previous year with really really low miles. I have the 2017 and see no reason to upgrade unless you want a turbo.

@@karle0822 Well, Mazdas are very reliable. However, I can tell you right now that the ride on a newer model is going to be better than on a 2014. And a ride on a newer model is going to be quieter in the cabin. That's one thing they improved on. Good luck!

You weren't in sport mode. You have to be at complete stop to engage sport mode. Notice at 7:30 "Sport" flashes twice above the "D" indicator but doesn't stick. I made the same mistake.

Tech Defender Am considering getting this Mazda SUV and will be my first. I sat in one at the car show room the other day and I like the sitting high with a clear view. I had a test drive and I felt in control.

Tech Defender it's great it has awesome interior. And it's an suv great for young drives that hit curbs all the time and it's safer.

MrRgarcia112 4 runner is a bit out of range in terms of price/ size. RAV4 is more comparable. 4 runner if you can afford it is a proven beast
