    I've test driven 2 2017 CX-5's and I have mine on order. Can't wait to get it. I've had a Mazda 3s for 13 years. The best car I've ever owned. 👍👍👍

    Forrest, a great video! I've been waiting for the new CX-5 since it debuted at the LA Auto Show and finally, my car should be here in the next few days. Our new Mazda dealership in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico found me the only blue car in all of Mexico! Can't wait! In this driving video you have a nice balance of letting us simply drive with you and telling us some of the great handling features of the car. I swear I have seen every single TH-cam video done on the 2017 CX 5 and yours have the most complete information and are done the most professionally. Thank you......

      Rene, I got that same blue. In Mexico it's the only one that they offer.....I really like how it shines in the sun. I'm learning how to detail a car and have been practicing on my new Mazda. Have fun with yours!!

    Thanks for a great video, Forrest. Nice job! I test drove the CX-5 (GT with Premium Pkg) yesterday and it felt awesome. Its interior is quiet, and the quality of the ride feels very high-end. I didn't mind the "hump" behind the steering wheel, because it was not any higher in my line of sight than the steering wheel itself, so it did not get in my way of seeing the road. The nav screen was very easy to see as well. The heads-up display takes some getting used to… like having something in front of you, floating on top of the road, at all times. You have the option of turning it off. I am thinking of trading in my 2013 Acura RDX for this new Mazda CX-5.
    UPDATE: I did trade in my RDX for the CX-5 GT with Premium Package. This is a very nice vehicle to drive, especially in stop-and-go traffic with the Smart City Cruise Control!

    I like the engine sound , gives the feeling of a good german car .
    The CX5 gets good verdicts here in France where some medias praise its equilibrated behaviour , smooth engine and rate it among the best SUV's on the market .

    no-one is demonstrating the adaptive cruise control with "stop and go" technology. its designed for traffic jams. set the cruise and it will detect the vehicle in front of you and if they come to a stop, you. stop to at the designated distance you chose, then when the car in front of you drives off, yours drives off. kinda like an "auto pilot" in which you just steer.
    other than that, great video.

      I own a 2017 CX-5 GT with Premium Package… got it last Monday. The "stop and go" Smart City Cruise Control function takes getting used to, and it's scary, but it works well. When you come to a complete stop, and the car ahead of you starts again, the CX-5 doesn't start again automatically. You have to either press the gas pedal lightly, or click the "resume" button on the steering wheel. Some people think that you can just sit in heavy traffic and do nothing. Nope, that's not how it works.

    • @adamstratton7808
      @adamstratton7808 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rene Borroto: yep, using the resume is a little slow to drive off, I've found its nice that even if you accelerate hard to pick up quickly, it won't turn it off like the one I had in a VW. This is still a pretty nice feature but yes, it takes a lot to trust a machine when your life can be on the line. I've sell Mazda and I'm still getting use to it. When you think about it in theory, its seems awesome and painless but once your behind the seat is a whole other story

    It's interesting the comment many people have made about how this vehicle (and other Mazdas) are for people who really like to drive. I normally don't like to drive much at all, but the CX-5 makes me love being behind the wheel. Test drove a 2016 a couple times. Makes my old Accord feel boring as hell.

    I really love your Mazda CX-5 reviews, especially the one I watched last night which gave a full run down on instrumentation throughout the veichle, that is the best review I have ever seen. I live in Australia and the cars are configured a little differently here to the USA. Even so you have made me decide that the CX5 is the right car for me. I wish someone in Australia would do as comprehensive a review as yours here. I think buyers of other brands of car would be interested in the same comprehensive review for their cars also.

  • @sstosich
    @sstosich 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for your reviews!! I have a '14 CX-5 GT. I've loved it!! A few minor complaints I've had are seat warmers aren't hot enough, and heat doesn't seem to blow with enough force on high bi-level. (I live in Utah. Very cold winters.) The delay when pushing the gas pedal from a stop is annoying, & also stressful when making a left turn. I've never liked the navigation system-not easy to use. The tire tread wore out fast. They put crap tired on their brand new cars. Anyone know if some of these things are improved on the '17?
    Also, I have a remote start key fob. Not sure how I feel about remote start now being an app on my phone. I hear it's a monthly fee for it too. Not cool. Anyone know how much the fee is?
    I don't love the new wheels on 17. I like the 15 & 16 better, bc they're a bit darker, & more depth/contour to the shape. 17 has that flower shape & no contour & flat looking.
    I've always liked that CX-5 looks sporty & youthful, almost badass with dark features. I'm not loving the chrome on the body & dash & trying to look more luxury of 17. I don't want a car that looks like a middle-aged, family wagon. Which is what CX-9 looks like to me, aside from the front end. And CX-5 is heading that direction. I'd like the arm rest of the console to be further forward, so I can actually rest my elbow on it & still have my hand on the wheel.
    I am super stoked about the premium package w/ heated steering wheel & back seats. I'm very tempted to upgrade for some of the new features!

    Great video, you seem very fond of this model. I have also watched your presentation review and it was very useful as well.
    My only hint is that similar reviews of also the Sport and Touring versions (which have different names here in Europe) may be useful. The Grand Touring is the highest end, but others may contemplate a slightly lower budget to invest in this car. Which would be the cuts, then?

    • @monikao.559
      @monikao.559 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, yes, ... you noticed that too, didya? I took the CX-5 for a test drive. It was fine on the highway (but most cars drive nicely on smooth pavement). When I drove it on the city streets, and on one particular road that didn't survive the onslaught of the snowplows all that well, the CX-5 drove so rough and jostled me so abruptly that I felt like my teeth were going to rattle right out of my mouth, and then my head started to hurt. Prior to that test drive, I had taken the following vehicles for a drive (on those same roads as the CX-5): Honda CR-V, Toyota C-HR, RAV-4, Subaru Forester, Subaru Crosstrek. Of those, I found the best overall ride quality to be with the Forester and the CR-V. (The vehicle that did the worst on the rough roads was the CX-5). I would strongly suggest to everyone reading this comment to do their test drives on all types of roads, not just on smooth highways! Speed and handling are only part of what makes an enjoyable ride.

    Which car would you rather have? CX-5 or WRX? It might not be the most popular cross shopping comparison....but they are two cars that I'm personally interested in. I need the AWD for the icy mountain roads in winter where I live....and both of these cars work for that. Now, I'm not a driving "enthusiast" per say....but I still enjoy having a little bit of fun and enjoyment on my drives. Now, would you say the CX-5 might fulfill that to a degree? Obviously the WRX is going to blow that particular comparison out of the water....but taking into account the better luxury, styling, look, and day to day practicality of the CX-5 into account....would you rather own the CX-5? Or is the WRX still practical enough and so much more fun to drive that you'd rather have that? I hope I'm making sense. Love your reviews. Thanks for making them!

    Forrest, can you say a word or 2 about the new seats in this CX-5? Do you think they are comfortable enough for long trips in the vehicle? Mazda seats tend to be on the hard and firm side - so I'm hoping there is more awareness about seat cushioning, lumbar and thigh support, and upper back side molding - than in previous generations of the CX-5.

      I wasn't sold on it either but rented one in LA for a week and was a believer. MMI is solid, nice tactile feel to the knurled control knob, nice bright screen. And, light years ahead of that giant in dash screen in the last generation CX-5. Floating type screen on top of dash is also in line with latest trends.

    I don't hear anyone say. This whatever car drives clunky these days. Most big brand cars drive ok. It's more the details like added gas damper on suspension and how good the engine quality is. Also the struts how strong and quality branded it is. The details are important these days to get the value.

      Not "recognize"; my question was if it auto turns off/on while at a stop light. It's not "recognizing" anything. It's a feature that Mazda tends to put on their cars. The Mazda 3 had it when we test drove one and I hated it.

      I misunderstood your question. No, the 2017 CX-5 does not have that feature.
