I have a Z51 C7 Stingray and I can't imagine what it would be like with even more power. Such a fantastic line of cars that have held their value insanely well over the last few years.
cool to see you here drewski, You should try the c8 z06. I have driven both c7 z06 and c8 z06 and I can say that the c8 z06 does not even feel like a corvette at all, in a good way. Cant go wrong with both tho.
I've always heard corvettes are handfuls...mainly from TV shows etc. Acting like you can barely take a corner in them. I took my c6z to the track, which was a blast, but my instructor had a c7z. It was non z07 with just continental extreme contact tires on it. I was scared to ride in it at first honestly because it was 42 degrees out and he almost went full send haha. Dude that car hooked in the corners and we never had drama at all. No warming up the tires either, it just hooked. Couldn't believe it. I was no longer scared after I saw that it did it consistently over and over. That thing is a beast. Can't imagine what a z07 package and cup 2s would do to it on a warmer day, my land. Love that car.
These seem like great value. Just did a quick search (11/16/24 @ ~7am) and you can get a 2019 with a manual and ~24k miles for ~$70k. I think that represents good value in today's economy.
Sport 1 is definitely the move when learning a high power GM car. Allows you to feel the limits but it will cut timing and do a bit of active chassis management to keep you from going off the track. I keep it on my V all the time.
WOW TRULY AMAZING. I've never seen you as white knuckle as when you just drove this. Absolutely handled this baby with brilliance. Would love to see you shoot for time on this to see you at 10/10ths
ok kinda spamming the comments sorry! Tom, thanks so much for sharing this car. It totally comes through how excited you are riding shotgun with Chris and right after you were like, 'yea... no cooldown, I'm going out again!' I know its early, but have you been thinking about anything you might want to do to the car? Leaf springs in the back is a target point for a lot of people, but its just amazing what GM has done with them and it makes you question if there is any need to touch the car at all.
Thanks! I haven’t considered any suspension or brake work so far. I’m somewhat of the belief that I can’t improve on what GM has created here, specially with the Z07 package.
Cheers ☕️ love the sounds of blower whine in the morning.. That hood insulation & weather strip delete truly makes a difference 👌 some healthy laps sir, get sum 🫡
This takes me back to racing in a c7 stingray around the motorsports track in Bowling green, ky. For about 220$ anybody can do this at that track. They have stingray c8's now. You just sign a paper and pay the fee and get to race with about 5 to 8 other c8 corvettes following a camero lead car, the lead car gives it hell too. Bucketlist ✔️
Cool ride I really wanted a 19 Z51, GS, or Z06 being the last year of the manual Vettes but couldn’t find any straightforward sellers in my area. Have a 6 spd G87 M2 now and love it after seeing this vid can safely say the manual Z06 would be beyond my skill level
So cool. Wish I would have known you guys were out there, I would have loved to come and watch. We’ve been at our Michigan house the last week and are only a few miles away. Normally would have heard the car from in the front yard, but the sound of the leafblower strapped to my back has been deafening 😂
It seems there is huge amount of wind noise. Are all the seals tight ? And I like this interior, because of physical buttons and lack of "piano black".
I am contemplating between a C7 Z06, GT500 (I hate that is not a manual) and a GT350R as a weekend fun car on the North GA mountains twisty and maybe a rare appearance at track. May even through the Lotus Emira into the mix. With you driving most of these cars what would choose? I tend to like short wheelbase and love higher revving cars. I had a BMW M3 G80 (6MT) and it just felt numb, prior to that I had an F87 M2 (6MT) and that was much better! Other cars you would consider?
The engine in the GT350R would concern me specially for a track day. The lack of manual would discourage me from the GT500. Emira would be a great alternative to a C7Z, but I’d have to vote for a 17+ C7Z. And if you can swing an 18 or 19 that’d be ideal.
I had a 2022 Z51, and in retrospect I think I should have went with the C7, Z06. If you can swing it, go for the C8 Z06. I have that car now and it’s a totally different car than the stingray or the C7 Z06.
@michaeldodd9302 looking at the C8 Z06 as well. Worried about reliability but not sure how bad it really is. And is the traditional road manners comprised much? Would be tracking about 5 to 10 times a year up here near Seattle. Most miles would be backroads
@ I’m not sure where to start… as for the reliability, I’m only 1200 miles into my Z06, and no issues to report. I was gentle for the 500 mile break in. Once I got passed the break in, I’ve been driving her pretty hard on the back roads of Minnesota. No issues at all to report. On the other hand, the car is so much more than a stingray, in every conceivable sense. Breaking, acceleration, cornering, chassis, suspension, power, sound… it’s simply way more car than the stingray, and the stingray, as you know, is one hell of a car. I can tell you from experience, if you regret getting the Z06 after driving a stingray, then I literally don’t know what your driving priorities are. I will say that if you’re going to track it as much as you say you are then get the Z07 package. It’s not that not having the Z07 package will suck, it’s just that the extra oomph you get from the Z07 package with the carbon ceramic brakes will be beneficial. I can’t begin to tell you how much more car you’re getting with the Z06. I have zero regrets on making the move to this vehicle. As for the drive ability, it drives just like the stingray, just a little stiffer in anything outside of “tour” mode. As for engine issues and dependability, take that with a grain of salt. TH-cam videos are not a good indicator of reality. So my recommendation would be to get the Z06 and roll with it. It’s simply an amazing car for the price… in fact it’s an amazing car regardless of the price. I hope this helps.
this is a very curvy track and its not your car. but i feel like the car could be pushed much harder. but i do know yall werent going for record times lol
I managed a 1:41 flat in my last session. I was very much so still learning the car but I agree with you. Specially with cup tires - I can definitely get into the 1:30s.

It’s been years right?
Hello drewski, fancy seeing you here
I've test driven both and the extra 200hp isn't worth it tbh. I was a little disappointed
@@L42776Jan 2019 hehe great car

Respect to the owners for tracking it. What a monster!
It sounds even more insane in car.
4:51 Gotta love 91 mph in second gear haha. I could listen to LS/LTs all day man.
1:40 The heated seat adjustment during track entrance is a flex 😂
This makes me carsick even in winter track sessions. Enabling the seat cooling fans is the way.
I’ve only drive one of these at 20mph or less and let me tell you, it made an impression. I would love to own one someday.

GM shouldn't have gotten rid of the manual in the Corvette!! That 7 speed was perfect in my opinion!!
The c7 is a amazing car

I have a friend with one of these, and I now have the desire to see if I can bum a ride off him. This looks (and sounds) proper!
It’s sounds like a snarling cat.. so addictive
These are fun. Thinking about buying another one for my wife. I always trade mine from boredom after 2 or 3 years.
Buy one for me 🙏
There’s a reason these hold value
Makes me want to sell my 392 jeep for a Z06.Looks like so much fun.😊

Been debating on a c7 z06 manual or c8 z51. Both cars have their comprised areas. If the c8 was manual, it would be way easier

You should try a c7 GS
How are there paddle shifters on the steering wheel if it's a manual?
GM chose to use the same steering wheel for autos and manuals. So for manual cars, it turns the rev match on/off.
Get me that 1le
Can you do the Chevrolet trax in tomorrow
Badass
No track flip flops???
Next Chevrolet trax
Bonkers. Better than C8.
Nope.
Want to trade my ZL1 (10A) for this car. Looking for the nicest one I can find.
What do the paddles do in this car ?
Enables and disables auto rev matching
It's literally explained in the video...

they should've kept the corvette exterior in this style, it looks so much better. interior is awful , but its awful now too
Dang he sold his gen V Viper for a c7z? What a downgrade, specially when driving on the track!!!
