I thought there were some really lovely things in this sketchbook!

Thank you! I sometimes go back to a sketchbook, and what I thought was horrible at the time actually has some interesting elements that only make sense later on.

It's so wonderful. I'm a beginner as well but this sketchbook has beautiful color combinations and shapes. It's not embarrassing at all haha.

Thank you! We are always most critical of our own work 😉

Quite a lot of great art and exploration in this book! You were very talented then, and have honed in on what you love to create. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Christie! Funny how it seems to make sense looking back on it. You are right, I explored in different directions and then honed in

Hi Jeannine, you are clearly a natural artist if this is what you were creating 7 yrs ago 😊.
What is so amazing about sketchbook practice, is that it’s a great way to catalogue not just what we love with experimenting supplies and techniques, it also acts as an historical reference to see how we progress and develop and I assume a way to find our personal style?
Very much at the beginning of my journey and my sketchbooks are interesting 🤔 😂 to say the least 😆.
Thank you for sharing and could you let me know what this sketchbook was? It looks like it handles watercolour well. Many thanks 🙏🏻😍🙏🏻

Haha, granted I did have an art education before that, but then hadn't touched a paint brush in years before creating this sketchbook. It very much felt like I was starting from 0, even though of course I wasn't.
It's so interesting to see work develop over time, especially if you can see certain threads running through it that you can only identify later on.
The sketchbook was from Paperchase, unfortunately it's not available anymore 🙁

Glad you enjoyed it! It's so interesting to look back on earlier work.

There is nothing awful here. A sketchbook is meant for experiments and doodles.

Thanks, Shawna. Funny how we are always so critical with ourselves. And you are absolutely right, sketchbooks are for experiments!

I definitely have worse in my sketchbook! I love the fish and your jellyfish, maybe you have a parallel career as a watercolour aquatic artist 😏

Haha, maybe! Now that I live by the sea it's not so far fetched 😄

Hi Jeannine, could you possibly do a video on brushes please or share the link if you've already done one and I missed it?

It's on my list of videos to make 😉 Hope I'll get to it soon!
