Bad ass man, chin up. And becoming more capable of navigating your mental state and adapting to life is very masculine, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Proud of ya!
Huge props for the sponsor on this video. I'm so glad we are finally starting to treat mental health the same way we treat physical health in our society. It's like laser cleaning for the mind, so important!
I am glad to see that you two are treating this like the serious tool it is, utilizing safety equipment and ventilation. I've seen too many channels that treat this like it's just a neat toy and that's troubling to me.
Agreed. There's another channel where there's a total disregard for any safety... be it welding, grinding, toxic fumes from welding , body fillers or painting. Tig and Mig can be just as dangerous from the accumlative effects. Besides the toxic fumes they produce UV exposure that can lead to skin cancer.
Such a shame you guys don't live closer to each other because the calibration of two amazing fabricator, hotrodders & just damn nice guys would be great to see more often. My favorite TH-camrs without doubt. Love your work guys. Billy J..... Queensland, Australia
Glad you’re getting the help you need Karl, being open and encouraging others to do the same truly shows your character Respect man keep looking forward the past is behind us because we’re not going that way 😎
Hey guys! I have a 2000w laser machine , no welder. And I’m opening up a business to clean rust, paint on cars and houses and stain on fences etc. The machine is adjustable and mine has a 23 3/8” width adjustment. I love it and hope my business takes off. Nice to see y’all trying. Nice job! Thanks
Eric, I’d like to do the same thing in my area. I live in the New Orleans area. I’m going to approach a company in St Louis who is doing the same and see if I can go up and visit them to check out their operation. I’d love to keep in touch with you to see how you’re doing and bounce ideas off of each other. If you’re open to that let me know.
If cleaning was your number one need you would want a pulsed fiber laser cleaner, it can give a sandblasted type finish and can he a lot more gentle and is more effective at removing all the rust. I use a 50w desktop fiber laser engraver to clean paint and rust off of tools that I repair and restore from garage sales and stuff.
Some great technology in the right place makes the job better. Great video. Always a blast seeing you two 'working' together. Look forward to more in the future. Be safe and stay well.
Karl, you are a smart man finding help on your sanity. Kudos. I have not noticed it. I have purchased a bead roller and other metal working tools to have fun with the fabrication of my own part. I can't afford the time and cost of rebuilding an old car, but I am working on my lawnmower. John Deere makes plastic shi* and it breaks. I want a new cowling for my mower. My old one just broke off. I don't want it to look like JD but rather a pug, or a deer. I am sculpting strips of 6061 into a basic shape. I plan on welding it up and then shaping it into the design I want. I see many people with lawnmowers where the parts have just fell off because of plastic. This will provide me with a low-cost project. If what I am doing it too hard for me I am going to switch to the "cyber truck" design! Not that i like it. I like the old 55 ford stepside. but the curves are too much for me. -

My friend you said that we might have noticed something in the last videos, well let me tell you my friend and i can only speak for myself people are too interested in your videos to notice anything different. Keep those videos coming my friend and be sure and take care of yourself and God bless.
Hi , Brent, Karl, and Pablo, Karl you're not a lone with mental state therapy I have been going through this for ten years now, marriage break up, and she won't let me have time with my only son who can carry on my family name. the projects I like doing, like woodwork can't do it anymore. Its a STRUGAL GETTING THROUGH MY DAYS. All for getting more money for her self. From Western Australia
Wow,welcome to the future of welding. Thanks for the demo. Its like you say ,a little too steep for my needs. I can see the cost coming down like the plasmas or the tigs.
It would be awesome if you could show the distortion after welding 20 and 18 gage and what it takes to hammer it back into shape. Is the weld softer than a mig weld? Is it like a tig weld softness?
Great video. Really appreciated the insight into the machine and your honest comparison of it with other methods. Thanks for helping to break the stigma about mental health. We are programmed by genetics and society to just tough it out and figure things out ourselves. Asking for help takes courage. Talking about it takes lots of courage. I applaud you for taking the step and being open about it.
Really cool. I've seen these in my Facebook feed and wondered if it was real. And the small amount of heat is amazing. I, like you said, just need a more entry level price.
I've been looking at these machines showing up lately and they are soooooo sick. The barrier to entry for really clean sheet metal welding has moved from experience to money but the price is going down really fast. Cleaning that gnarly transmission housing was just jaw dropping. I feel like I could do that all day. I could see reviving some complex shaped castings that are not replaceable but would otherwise be kind of a lost cause.
I have such a machine. Different manufacturer, but the UI is identical, the handheld thing is the same, just the box it comes in is different. Amazing machine, I do rust/paint removal and welding when working on my car as well as for my restoration car project. The fact that I can do deep cleaning on hard to reach places is amazing. Does not work on 3D-rust in one go, but cleaning, hand wire brush the loose stuf, clean and repeat until you got clean metal. Also the welding is great, I'm a noob but was able to weld thin sheet metal within the first minutes of usage is insane. Tried thin sheet metal, thick round or square stock, alumin(i)um and stainless, all perfect. I haven't touched my TIG machine since then. The handheld thing is more blocky and harder to use than a TIG torch, but you get used to it. But it is no toy, this thing is dangerous. On a TIG/MIG machine, the dangerous part ends at the tip of the torch, here the laser will go on and even at very unfocused levels, it still damages stuff or body parts. Latter one not tried, don't want to :)
Back in 1994 my dad purchased a 50 watt laser engraver for $25,000 (fyi it never paid for itself, made more money from the vinyl cutting we bought a few years later and it is still running today). About a year before died he was looking into laser cleaning, however we could not find an inexpensive machine, to say that this 3 in 1 is to expensive makes me shake my head and I think technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks for posting. Going to start save to buy one.
Thank you very much for the mental health referral and sponsor, much appreciated. This is the best intro to laser welding, cleaning and all that it can do. Very thorough review. Thank you for that! Just curious, would that vevor fume extractor work decent for mig welding as well ?
As I said couple months ago, to avoid marks when cleaning, you need same machine, but with a pulse mode or totally pulse laser. It's the only way. Glad you tried one!
i glade i got the 2k/3k welder it lets me do thiker and i think cleaning little better but changing for cuting and welding is easy and youi can cut with just air to
What did you use to prevent the camera sensor from getting killed by the laser? Or did you just get lucky? 😅 Might be a good time for a pixel remap lol
It's a friggin laser, and next the shark! Looks good guys. Your Asian heritage is showing through Karl wanting to be a Jedi warrior like your ancestors being Samurai.
Does your cnc table weld with this head installed instead of plasma head it would do the moves or shapes and auto start. Or even clean if set to run back and forth or around a shape?
Glad to hear you got some help with things brother 👍 I was wondering if something had changed as we haven’t seen anything with the girly in quite awhile. I totally understand if you wanna date Brenda, she’s so pretty and I probably won’t be able to make it up there any time soon 🤣🤣
Bad ass man, chin up. And becoming more capable of navigating your mental state and adapting to life is very masculine, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Proud of ya!
Stay strong, Karl. And cheers to you for speaking about mental health to help continue removing the stigma.

It's nice to see an honest video of these. Like you mention, I've only seen the reels, and they come across as fake/spammy.
Great intro, looking into the link myself. Thanks for sharing and normalizing this
Some great technology in the right place makes the job better. Great video. Always a blast seeing you two 'working' together. Look forward to more in the future. Be safe and stay well.
I’ve used therapy in the past, very smart move on my part
Anywhere from 5-10 grand for a 1500 watt laser. Not bad considering it's no mess, no chemicals, no special room. Thanks for the demo!
You two guys are great examples of professional car guys.
Thank you for the video very interesting watching you mess with this new welding equipment. Pretty cool for production work.
I was watching Yorkshire car restoration using one of those laser strippers on some rust on a Porsche 911 it’s an incredible tool …👍
I always wondered what happened to Christina and the Cadi build. Hope you’re good bro.
Me too. Wasn’t sure how to ask
Wow that is just crazy how awesome that thing is !! Thanks for taking us through all those steps to see how it is done..

You guys work so well together!! Keep it up!
The number range on the laser safety glasses is the wavelength (nm) of light that it's good for.

All the Best Karl !!!
That is such a cool machine. Take care. Thanks.
just nice to see some one els useing one beside me
Chuck some 1/8 aluminium sheet on your bench… stops the weld sticking!
I’d be interested to see how it hammer’s up?
In our shop we have a sign, "Don't look at laser with remaining eye".
That's awesome.
Love your content, and look forward to your weekly updates! Keep up the great work!
Super proud of you for seeking out a therapist Jedi Warrior on multiple levels. 😎👍👍
Always talk Karl it will get you through almost anything ! Glad you are doing that ! Still here buddy keep them coming !

Great video! Thanks Karl.
Brent started using the Laser for a whole lot. Maybe you will get a Laser. Great demonstration of this tool. Thanks Karl. Very good! 💯👊👍❤️
I see a new toy, coming to the shop soon they are absolutely amazing

first saw this tech when Ed China used it on a landrover frame couple years ago

The cleaning alone would be the best part, no more paint or rust in your path would be so cool.
another dimension, another dimension, another dimension, another dimension
That's 1960s Sci-Fi technology available NOW. How cool is that!
A new tool to fab some new projects!
For better sight of the weld add more light to the part. What weld gas are you using?
About 20 minutes in they talk about straight argon for welding but for cleaning you can just use shop air. Pretty killer.
Great video. Jim n Texas.
Glad you enjoyed it

Areal man faces his struggles. Thanks for sharing mate!
So cool!
The only thing left for this show was lazers . Well done its perfect lol
Thanks for going through that Carl can you give approximate cost ? Always enjoy your work mate, great content
Random question what's the power consumption like?
The cleaning sound reminds me of the sound that Flash Gordons rockets made in the fifties BW show.
i glade i got the 2k/3k welder it lets me do thiker and i think cleaning little better but changing for cuting and welding is easy and youi can cut with just air to
and i use it for cuting my sheet metle you just have to chang tip and set the with of lazeer to .1 and it cut .1 mm line in sheat
27:30 That sounds like Flash Gordon 1930s Sci-Fi technology!
😂 it actually did
What did you use to prevent the camera sensor from getting killed by the laser? Or did you just get lucky? 😅 Might be a good time for a pixel remap lol
You should be able to do but welds without filler with the laser, I have seen that done, but by robots, also do spot welds the same way.
Very kool!
It's a friggin laser, and next the shark! Looks good guys. Your Asian heritage is showing through Karl wanting to be a Jedi warrior like your ancestors being Samurai.
Going through stuff myself at the mo, wish I could afford therapy...💚🇬🇧🌱
That lazer is cool but too much for me! It’s taken me a lifetime to get my welding skills to what I call acceptable 🤣
Laser welders are coming down in price. His you can get for 4000.00 from China. Air cooled would be smaller and easer to use but more expensive.
does it get warm enough to use to heat shrink? like the shrinking disc.
So, I didn't specifically notice in the video, but you don't need to ground the work piece either? That, by itself, would be a massive benefit.
I think in the beginning it showed him putting the ground on the metal table so it’s just grounding through there.
@@minnesotatomcat yes that is what he done
Does your cnc table weld with this head installed instead of plasma head it would do the moves or shapes and auto start. Or even clean if set to run back and forth or around a shape?
Mental state first, metal state next!
How hard is the weld? More like mig or tig?
its like reguler weilding you got to learn what to set it for thicknes no you need to clean it first on scale
Cool
"We've got frickin lazers!!!"
I've been seeing these things in TH-cam Shorts and wondered if it was a scam.
dam,,,, I want!
i use i grid patern for cleaning on mine i thiink it dose better job on pass but dont know if yours has difrent patterns
Having fun laser styles 🤣😅🤗🤘
Fricken lasers are wicked man!
Is the weld malleable?
it spot weild to
I’m sure the technology will advance quickly, but at this point it looks like a control panel for the Apollo missions.
Just a couple 'a guys having fun.
Use nitrogen gas, much cheaper than argon and better for welding of steels and stainless.
Thanks for showing us what Brett never showed us.
"cooking ants"
We're in the future
That is insane
Serious warpage on the butt weld
