- Today I’m answering every question about the 200 Watt pulsed laser cleaning machine by Fortune Laser.
First I’ll go over the advantages of pulsed vs continuous wave machines.
I’ll also do a demonstration and show you how well it cleans rust, paint, grease and more, as well as some tips to keep it working efficiently.
Last, we’ll talk about pricing.
Fortune Laser provides different laser machines with different laser power and price ranges. Below is the FL-C200 I reviewed:

I follow a military vehicle restore channel , based here in the UK , I wish they'd buy one of these things , instead of pissing about with hydro blasting , chemicals and needle guns when removing paint and rust from small vehicles like cheiften tanks ect. A job that would take days , could be done in hours.
Not cheap, but they do pay for themselves pretty quickly in time saved.
What do you mean by uk? Do you live in England where my ancestors came from?
I also have some ancestors from Ireland and Scotland as well.
And one of my ancestors hails from Wales
there not as availabe over here as you would hope, I've a tank I need to needle gun now, if i could find one of these id be tempted !
@@mgstu I believe they ship these world wide. Did you contact Jason at Fortune Laser?
@@6thGearGarage have dropped them a msg via website, did you have a direct email for him ?
I'm waiting a few years until Dollar King are selling them for $100.
And they weld too.
😂, me too.
This tech has been around since the 90’s and is only now in the 100k range for semi decent machines. Will be a long time before you get anything beyond a glorified flashlight at your average box store.
I didn't know such machines existed. Thanks for demonstrating how it all works so clearly.
Thanks for watching! I think they will become more common in the future.
@@6thGearGarageAs is almost always the case when something is effective as you showed this to be. What's the saying? "The cats out of the bag"!
Yeah it's true he did a good job of presenting without unnecessary BS
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with me and the community. This was one of my favorite episodes.
Glad you enjoyed it! You’ll be seeing this machine in a lot of my videos. It saves so much time!
Great information you have put together and provided to all. Thank You!
This thing is super cool!
Interesting, thanks for the review.
You bet
great demo....holy shit 9 thousand bucks....not in a 9 thousand years
Thanks! Also, they have less expensive ones too.
Man you have no clue how much money you could drum up in business and how many different jobs you could do with this thing. This is the future of cleaning so if you invest 10 grand and get your ass up you can pay it off in a month
@@JC-bx3bg yeah fuck all that
@JC-bx3bg yeah, and have the government that regulates everything receive a bunch of taxes off the purchase of this machine and the business it creates?
I'm with the previous commenter on this one. Besides, the people stealing our money and ambitions have no problem making more slaves from people who purchase on credit so let them hire the guy with the wire brush and continue to lecture us about saving the planet from all their manufactured pollution and war games. Done.
Thats a fancy dancy tool!
I could see paying to have the underside of my vehicle laser cleaned. Id pay extra for the first person laser cam footage too lol.
I will say... DON'T laser clean anything rubber lol. I learned that first hand.
I want one of these - so bad! I can't justify that much for my personal use, but it doesn't stop me dreaming.
Excellent explanation too! That answered questions I didn't know I had.
If I wasn't able to write it off for business, I would have gone with one of the lower priced models :)
I can’t imagine being a body shop, and not having one of these things. The time saved in man hours would pay for it very quickly.
Awesome video. Can i ask.... Do you know? Will this clean masonry, driveways/statue's?
Yes it absolutely will, although it would take a very long time to clean a driveway with this particular machine.
@@6thGearGarage
Dude thanks for getting back. Really appreciated. And yes. It would be time consuming for sure. But I keep thinking you could get a shed load done in an hour. The video I witnessed was from overspill of rust removal. The concrete literally went "BING" in seconds.... Thanks again. Interesting stuff....
@@returntochrist777 A continuous wave machine would be much faster for larger areas like a driveway.
@6yeargarage
What is the training needed to be able to use one of this machines?
Thanks!! 😊
No training is really needed, it is very simple to learn to use after reading the instruction manual. Understanding the parameters and modes helps as well.
I'm considering a similar unit for my metal fab shop. Is it good at removing mill scale and oxidation from welding/cutting? Also, will I be able to forgo a sand blasting cabinet with this unit?
Oxidation, absolutely. Mill scale, I’m not too sure. Slightly different situation, but when I showed the scaled rusty frame example, the rust was removed from the surface of the scales, but when I scraped them off, there was still rust underneath. I would contact Fortune Laser and see if they have a machine that might remove the mill scale. Maybe they have a continuous wave machine that can do this? I have a small blasting cabinet that I’m considering getting rid of but still might use it for smaller heavily scaled rusty parts like control arms, knuckles etc.
This is one of the best metal prep for welding because it does not leave any residue that you will be breathing as a welder.
I would buy one if I could think of some side hustle that I could use it on to help pay for it
12:24 If you cleaned long enough, will it chew through the scale or it will reflected of and laser has no effect? If you use needle scaler along with laser, is it possible to get it clean or you still need to resort to sand blasting?
It might get through some of the lighter scaling eventually. Anything to knock the scale off first will allow the laser cleaner to throughly clean the surface beneath. You could use a needle scaler, wire brush, or even a metal scraper.
One question: what's the expected service life of the laser itself? When these type of devices came onto the scene a few ago (with continuous laser, I assume) the laser would gave, say, a 5000 hour service life before needing replacement. Pulsed and lower power likely will have remedied this.
That's a great question and I'm unsure of the answer. Keeping the machine clean is the best thing to extend its service life.
Well that figures lol. It doesn't like white paint. My jeep is white....everywhere on the sheet metal.
how much does the part cost?
😊Great bemo, My friend purchased a 200w pulse laser machine and didn't get any settings for it, would it be possible to get the settings from you for the different types of materials if it's not too much trouble. We would really appreciate it as we are starting a new laser cleaning service. I live in Ireland so I'm not in opposition to you 😊.
Regards Michael O Shea
Sure, what is a good email to send them to?
will it remove slag from stick wellding?
I have not tried it personally, but I read that it can.
that would be a big time saver
yes
I think for a similar price you can get the one that welds as well
Actually a lot cheaper! I initially looked at the 3-in-1 welder/cutting/cleaning machine, which was about $3k cheaper. It's a continuous wave laser though, so the cleaning isn't as good for certain surfaces. I already have a mig welder, so I really needed a machine to do cleaning.
Does a great job on aluminum....looks like new and its so hard to get that way....and my truck has to be white....
The aluminum is the most fun to clean because of such a huge difference in the before/after.
Would this work to remove powder coating from alloy wheels? Would the next size down be enough for just wheels?
@@tukn22inch It would absolutely remove powder coating. Gloss white will take a little longer than other colors. Black will remove the easiest. A 100w machine should be similar to the 200w machine, it will just take more time to clean due to less power.
good job, is there 300W 750W 1000W available?
Thanks,
They have a 100, 200 and 300w pulsed machine. I think I might have seen a 500w too. Their continuous wave machines start at 1000w.
Do you still need one set laser cleaning machine, sir? This is Jolene from TIPTOP laser. Always serving in the laser cleaning industry, paint, rust, stain and others attached to different materials can be washed away with laser.
Do i have a chance to talk with u?
believe our price will appeal to you. )))
have you done an ambassador or distributor deal with any of these laser companies?
No, but I agreed to create this video in exchange for a 5% discount on the purchase of the machine.
Do you use the machine very often?
@@klubj57 yes I have been using it in most of my recent videos, as well as other projects that I do not upload.
It's a shame they do not just list the prices. How much you ask, well how much you got.
I noticed that none of the laser companies list the prices on their website. I think it's because the technology is constantly evolving and they're getting cheaper. Also depends on your location because they cover shipping/tax/customs fees.
what about using ultrasound?
I did do some testing with an ultrasonic cleaner to see what it could remove, and it didn't do very well at rust or corrosion: th-cam.com/video/wIqUzE3tETk/w-d-xo.html
Minor nit-picking @2:24 The laser energy _ablates,_ not _abelates,_ all the crud, paint and rust. "Abelation" has an "e" too much. Sorry for my OCD acting up.😅
Thanks for the heads up! This video was the first time I had ever used that word lol, I'll remember that in the next video!
Hell yeah ...the price will drop on those just like 3D printers and CNC machines.
both of those still cost an arm and a leg....
I can't believe how much the prices have already dropped since 2020 when they were $100k. I think in a few more years it won't be uncommon for diyers to have one of these in their garage.
Don't hold your hopes up too much. It's in part thanks to 3D printing... sorry, _additive manufacturing,_ that the prices of industrial lasers have come down tremendously. 200 watt is a nice laser output power for an entry level powder bed selective laser melting (SLM) metal printer. Both types of devices benefit already from large drops in laser cost.
Are you making any money with your laser or do you just use it in your own projects?
I’ve only used it for my own projects so far. If I get some spare time I might try to do some side jobs with it.
Hey dude, good presentation, could you please send me the contact information for your supplier. Well done.
Thanks! You can email Jason at jason@fortunelaser.com. I also have his WhatsApp, if you prefer to reach him there.
Why does it come with a 110 plug if it needs 220?
I'm guessing because most of the world only uses 220, while North America uses 110 and 220, and they ship these world wide.
This might sound dumb but I need to know this before I buy one. Does it plug into a regular outlet? Like a home outlet?
@@cowee2012 No, it uses 220v (which is normal for the majority of the world) Here in North America, 110v is a normal house outlet. While the plug on the end of the power cord of the machine was the 110v style, it wold have probably caused damage if I plugged it into a regular 110v outlet. So I bought an adapter to convert the 110 plug to a plug that fits my 220v outlet. I would ask them if they can make a 110v version though. It may be possible because these pulsed machines are only 100w and 200w machines. They don't draw a ton of power like the 1000/1500/2000w continuous wave machines do.
@@6thGearGarage oh, I understand. I live in Hawaii and I googled what our standard outlet voltage is and google said 120v. Does the company you purchased the laser from make them in different voltages? If not, can you send me the link to your adapter thing?
yeah theres no chemicals in the process but the by product is the chemicals in the burnt off materials. Iron oxide is carcinogenic
This product available in India.
I think it's available world wide.
Product price please.
@@samdas3119 at end of video or contact fortune laser (link in description) for latest pricing. I bought mine 6 months ago so prices may be different now.
ughhh no chemicals involved shure but atomazing oil resedue and paint aint exactly healthy to breath either
Yes, proper ventilation is a must.
Will it be effective on my underpants
It will make a nice burn hole for future poos to fall through.
BEWARE TH-camrs of these cheap cleaning lasers! (not ALL Chinese lasers are bad, but do your homework)...most of these thing are 'toys"
1. Avoid anything with a Raycus laser diode (they are getting better, but there is a reason why they are so cheap...most won't last a year...)
2. Don't get a unit that cleans AND welds (they do neither well)
3. Get a unit with USA tech support (from a dealer....avoid Amazon/Alibaba, or you WILL be sorry)
4. Get a unit that has a chiller for the diode (for a continuous wave laser like the one in this video)...pulse wave up to 300w is ok without
5. Make sure the head has an air blade (keeps the protective lenses cleaner much longer/ extends optics life)
6. Continuous Wave lasers are usually the way to go (unless doing thin material/ Aluminum / heat treat scale)....then go to a pulse laser
7. Don't use they eyewear that comes with the laser cleaner (they are always OD 5...should be at least OD 7+ @ 1.0 - 1.1 nm range wavelength)
8. Don't use welding goggles as eyewear (totally different wavelength...won't protect eyes at all)
9. Bescutter is probably the best entry level cleaning laser / bang for the buck...has a 2 year on sight service warranty
10. If USA made cleaning lasers are in your budget I'd recommend Laser Marking Technologies (1/2 the price of the big boys with better core and optics)
11. Ask for references....folks who have been using them for a while will be glad to share the good, the bad and the ugly
You have many good points that I agree with 100% - I'm skipping over those to keep this shorter. I disagree with #3 though. Fortune Laser is based in China, yet their customer support has been incredible.
#4. The machine in this video is an air cooled Pulsed laser, not continuous. I think all continuous wave machines are liquid cooled... and yes, definitely avoid any that are not.
#6. It really depends on the type of cleaning you'll do. CW machines tend to etch/overheat the surface to a point where the surface is no longer smooth. Great for larger steel items where surface appearance does not matter. I feel pulsed is superior because it's usable on much more. Ideally, owning both machines would be the perfect scenario.
#7. The protective eyewear that came with my machine was correct. I'd question the integrity of any company including the wrong eyewear, as that's very important.
#9 I looked up Bescutter and it's hard to justify their $57,000 200w machine at 6.5x the cost of this one... but if you're a corporation and can afford such an expensive machine then more power to you. I don't think that's feasible as a small business owner or hobbyist. I think prices will continue to drop as more companies continue to manufacture these machines.
I was interested all along, thinking maybe priced like high end plasma cutters for example but then…..the price. Stopped the video right there.
Understandable... I'm lucky to be able to use this as a write-off. They also have less expensive models on their website.

So cool. The only good thing about living is southern commiefornia desert is rust isn’t really an issue here.. but man that 😊laser is hella sweet to watch remove rust
It sure is. Also, I need to buy my next project vehicle from down there!
One second of not paying attention and you and everyone in the room is blind. Permanently.
No thank you Sir.
I wouldn't be too worried about that. Just wear the glasse, don't clean in a room full of people, and don't let people put their faces next to the surface being cleaned and it should be fine.
You are completely delusional.
This is at the very least a laser class 3 machine. Even a reflection from across the room would blind anyone.
There's a reason for very high safety standards when working with lasers.
Clowning around in your garage with china laser goggles is NOT safe in any way.
It only has strength for a few inches as he demonstrated in the video. So I do not believe it would blind anyone unless you put your eye in its target zone.
Less talk, more laser
Check out my YT Short videos. I have some more laser cleaning vids there. I also used it in the engine paint video to clean the block, head and accessories.
