Hello. I watched a lot if not all your video but I have no idea where those locations are. I know people don't give out their locations but would mind share a few location (privately)?
alex inthavong - Thank You, Thanks for the order! I’m always trying to get those things to you guys ASAP. Nobody likes having to wait. Let me know how they work out for ya. This next week should be a good one.
Hey I’m kinda a newbie to salmon fishing, I noticed you really get those spinners out into the water. Any advice for for throwing spinners farther? And is there and way to add weight to Blue Foxes?
Just Vibin - I think the braided line helps, but my spinners are heavier than a bluefox. I used to fish with those spinners all the time before I started making my own. I know people have used an inline weight or have pinched on a couple split shot but I think that just makes it easier to snag. I usually say if you aren’t casting as far as you want, get heavier spinners. Try the weights or checkout the website.
Angling Addicts PNW I make my own spinners too and I always keep a few made out of bullet weights, instead of the bell bodies, for times I need to get deep or just trying to hit the other bank.
Robert McGaughey - lol the funny thing is, I remembered I wanted to weigh it as I was holding up the carcass I had just filleted. I should just leave a scale in my car 🤷♂️
That happened to me a few years back when I caught my PB rainbow trout Lol I was so amazed and happy i totally forgot to weigh it. All good though. 🤙 Tight lines
What are the conditions you look for that make you decide to fish a spot? Been trying for a couple of years and I still haven't managed to hook into any of the salmonids and I think I may just be going to the wrong spots/at the wrong conditions.
Meltingfrog - There are so many times I’m fishing an area and KNOW there has to be fish there but come up empty handed. Sometimes you just can’t get fish to strike. That’s why mixing it up is huge. You could throw the same thing all day with no luck or cycle through different colors and styles. A simple color change or change in presentation could make the difference. When it comes to what I look for it’s usually any deeper pools, channels, or bottlenecks, anything that’s going to provide what the fish prefer. The weather and river conditions play a big role. I’m usually looking for spikes in the river level so I can fish when it’s dropping again. If the water is low and clear the fish may be less likely to bite. Seems my last couple fish came when it was raining. I’m still trying to figure it all out.
Angling Addicts PNW Aren’t we all?! Haha I used to go to a spot with 3 rods and a bulging backpack and just get STUCK. Knowing that I should move around but AWW, AAWWW it’s just too perfect! They HAVE to be here. And I would just be there for 10 hours throwing everything and the kitchen sink at em. So I finally ditched the backpack and got a vest and boom, all the difference in the world. I actually started catching fish! Whaddya know 😆 But like you said.... it depends. I think about it like this: if the river is on the rise they’re traveling. Find a travel lane and post up. As it drops, the fish find their spot to wait for rain again. This is when I pick like 2 techniques, start high on the river and hit the holes on the way down. I swear this one adjustment has been an absolute game changer.
Adventure Angling PNW - it looks like we should be having thunderstorms this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. It really depends on how much rain we get, how high and fast the rivers raise and how bad the thunderstorms are. Otherwise I’d say there is still a chance of finding a fish, though it is starting to get a little late in the season, may have to put in more work to find some
Angling Addicts PNW The Sandy won’t blow out like the Clack because the snow keeps the dirt out. Not like Clackamas is puttin out any fish or anything, just my 2 pennies
Adventure Angling PNW I always do. lol My bet would be fishing lower until the next freshet. Everything from Oxbow to Cedar has been worked over pretty thoroughly this past week. But I’m still a rookie so .... big ol grain o’ salt comin right uphaha
TheWallman456 - I’m not talking about it blowing out. It doesn’t need to blow out, it only has to get dirty enough to be unfishable. It didn’t raise much last week and it was brown for two days. It’s spring now, the water can dirty up fast. If it’s raining low, it’s raining high. Snow melts, sediment enters the river. Spring and summer are more about how saturated the ground is when the rain does fall. We were also originally supposed to have thunderstorms this weekend which doesn’t make for the best fishing. I live 15 minutes away from the river and I’m not fishing it this weekend. He’s coming from eastern Oregon.
North_West_Outdoor_Adventures - I felt pretty lucky to get on some fish with little time I’ve been able to get out fishing. Sounds like it’s slowed down quite a bit. I was just hoping to catch a spring chinook this season. If I’m on the water, I’m enjoying myself :) 🎣
Fish and Forage - Thank You, I was hoping to get it on the smoker as soon as I got home but I was slammed all day long. I ended up just getting some prepped in some vacuum seal bags. I think I’m going to get some done up this weekend!
Fish and Forage not specifically. I just googled some to get an idea as far as proportions of ingredients but basically some vinegar, white or apple cider. I do both haha Pickling spices and sugar etc. I like to tinker with it. I don’t think any two batches have turned out the same but always DELICIOUS! Family loves it. Neighbors love it.haha
MikePierce170 - I can’t make it that easy ;) I’d have nowhere to fish if I showed all my spots. Now I’m back to just jumping around trying to find some fish again. Good areas come and go, but...... this was on the Sandy river, I will give ya that. This recent rain raised the river a lot a few days ago which could get the fish to just blast up to the hatchery. The river is dropping now and it’s going to be a nice week. Fish the deeper pools and channels with slower moving water.
