  • In this video I'm showing a Crank generator I built from scrap and some new parts, no welding or special tools where used to build this generator, I will post a build video soon. The crank generator can easily charge phones, flashlights, electronics and power lights etc. Perfect for use in a power outage emergency to keep phones and flashlights charged up. The generator has a built in battery so you don't have to keep cranking while charging, the system works by charging up capacitors than there energy is funneled off slowly to charge the internal battery. Build cost was around $50 USD this generator could be made in many different ways with free scrap parts and the cost could be way less or free. All the wiring is very simple just two wires in and out of each component there is also a diode to prevent the motor from powering up plus fuses, all the parts can be found online. The generator is built from a old computer case, tricycle parts, 24v scooter motor, 25H chain and sprocket, 500f super capacitors, boost module, power bank module, 18650 batteries, lithium protection charge board, diode, some switches, old voltage meter, digital voltage display wire etc.
    Big Thanks to my Subscribers, hope you're all doing good. love the idea of using an old computer case.
    i also appreciate the welding free setup

      Thanks! I try and build some projects without welding, defiantly important when not everyone has a welder or a place they can weld in.

    Absolutely great. I liked the way you repurposed a computer case. Very original, and the bike gears too. I made my own generator as well but no gears, less noise. I posted it on youtube as well. The creativity is great with your creation. Keep up the good work.

      @@kurtscottage Yeah, thanks, I do, I like working with batteries and technical. Yeah, it would be good to make a lot of power, but there's multiple arms that also need attention.

    If you want to make a very efficient one reuse the motors from the hoverboard scooters as 3 phase generators need 6 diodes per each and with modest cranking they can make 12V at 1.5 to 2A. Store in a capacitor and feed a 12V to 5V converter. Can generate much more power using an exercize bike as the rotation source. One i built a while ago uses a washing machine drum motor that feeds a 3 ohase bridge, a couple large electrolytics that feeds an actual switch mode PS battery charger/inverter. The voltage output is about 260V raw from the motor though, so be careful when you use one of those 😮

    Hello, could you tell me in which order are your parts connected? such as live from the motor - diode - ect? I'm building one similar to yours in the video, but i'm interested in how it's all connected. Thanks

    When I put more than one dynamo, will I double the charging process in a faster time and with less effort?

    Would a 12v 6w bicycle dynamo charge a 500f super capacitor or is there not enough there to do anything? Thanks.

  • @anteater555
    @anteater555 ปีที่แล้ว

    if you connect the boost converter to the capacitors, how do you prevent putting too much voltage? do you NEED a voltage meter?

  • @ApocGuy
    @ApocGuy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    shorten the chain or put tensioner on it. i'd add kind of flywheel to the crank too (simple 1/2 to 3/4" steel plate will do) to ease the prolonged charging. Also, longer handle will help tremendously in charging (as will bigger sprocket if you can get one).

    How can we purchase a power bank with a Handcrank in the event that Solar power from sunshine is not available?
    Handcrank power banks looks like they’re only giving us 60 to 120 W. So what’s another good way to establish power or electricity when you run out of fuel and the batteries die and there’s a black out from the sun? Fire?

      if you have a river or running stream near you, you can make a mini hydroelectric dam to generate electricity. Or if you have a source of water you can make a steam engine that would spin a turbine and create energy. Would take a fair bit of know-how about steam engines and general ingenuity to be able to pull that off

    Hi Boss , I am interested in a small hand crank generator that can charge my motobike battery for my self starter. At times I have to kick start my motorcycle especially while I am on travelling for work, coming home the battery voltage is below level for the self starter to start. . Any possibility of making one for me.

    You are not going to get many watts out of this !
    That is a great point
    And a point many people do not seem to understand
    Power in and then Power out
    Then whatever loss
    How many watts can a human produce on average ?
    Likely less than the average person thinks

    • @kurtscottage
      @kurtscottage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, helps people understand this better when it comes to human power. Check out toaster challenge videos, it takes a lot of energy just to toast one peace of bread.

    Great build👍, I was thinking about making a hand crank dynamo from 110 amp car alternator, do you think that would work or would it have too much resistance for to be practical?

    • @christopherleubner6633

      Peddle power would be better as they need high RPMs to generate significant power.
