    Even though the pacing felt off I like the outcome of “Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.” Everyone gets an ending of their own.

    Netflix had nothing to do with it (if spend some cash for the distribution rights), it was all from the brains of the original author Bryan Lee O'Malley and the scriptwriter Ben David Grabinski, with an assist from Edgar Wrong... I mean Wright.

      I’m pretty sure at least final plot twist is from Bryan himself.
      It’s feel to personal to him.

      Naa dude... Its just for the title😅, in the video I mentioned that the change was due to Bryan heading the creative direction.. The title sounded way catchier with Netflix in it so yh.

    I saw so many people mad, went this series pretty much fixed so many issues like showing than Scott is the douchebag, fixed Ramona being the "princess" who needed to be saved and just never fixed her own issues and fixing the damage she had done to ex's.
    I think this series was pretty damn good because it shown Ramona as the ass she is and was during the whole comic and film. Running away from all her emotional issues and letting scott "fix them" for her. I really,really liked this Ramona at lot. The one growing and maturing is Ramona herself instead of Scott. The one fixing the issues with your ex's shouldn't be your new partner, but yourself setting things right by those people who were your partners. This is the correct way and the series does that right.
    Ramona issues aren't Scott to fix, but HERS. This is how you write a proper female character as the main focus of your show/movie

    • @zest2.5
      @zest2.5  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Very well said... I feel the series did justice to the character, Even without the context of the comic, you can be satisfied with Ramona as the Main character.

      @zest2.5 At the expense of Scott! It would have been "enpowering" if both Scott and Ramona teamed up to fix her past mistakes! This just feels like another example of media forcing "girl powet" into a story at the expense of the male lead!!!;)

    • @bababobo5067
      @bababobo5067 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I think you have a very bad understanding of the comics. Ramona wasn’t a princess that needed to be saved, and Scott was never portrayed as a non-douchebag. Fighting the exes in the comic wasn’t Scott “fixing” anything for her. If you paid attention, you’d see how the exes served to show how flawed Ramona was, with how she would always be the one to leave them. And fighting them isn’t what brought Scott and Ramona closer together. What brought them closer was Scott learning more about Ramona’s flaws, and the ups and downs they had in their relationship.
      Fighting the exes wasn’t meant to be Scott solving her problems, because the exes weren’t her problem anymore in the first place. They were Scott’s. They wanted to kill him so Gideon could then basically control Ramona again, which he does later anyway. Gideon is the only one that Scott really saves her from, since he’s the only one who truly did some evil stuff. The other where just vehicles to showcase more of Ramona’s bad traits. By the end of the comic, both Scott and Ramona accept their flaws, and promise each other to do better, together. What is with this gross misunderstanding of the characters? Ramona being “toxic” was the damn point. It’s called character growth.

  • @silverjrbr2
    @silverjrbr2 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    I don't think she fixed it. Ramona's problem is that she has always used people without thinking about other people's feelings and for her own benefit. In the series this is like "I run away from my problems" whereas it is exactly the opposite. She also doesn't even apologize to her EX. She didn't apologize to Lucas Lee for cheating on him. Not the twins or anything. She doesn't evolve, she just says she's going to value herself more, which is exactly the problem. Not to mention that she has the same problem with Scott making him a villain and expects him to fight for her like her ex-boyfriends did. She has selfishness at the center of her actions and in the end she embraces it once and for all.

    Hey Zest, black jack here. I feel the netflix adaptation sheds a better light on Ramona, while in a sense leaving scott in the mud. But i still like it though, i love Wallace in it too, love his sarcastic bit too. Congrats on 1k subs dude

      Yhh all in all a good show...

  • @bababobo5067
    @bababobo5067 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

    No, it didn’t fix her. Why do so many people think the movie is the original story? The story is originally a graphic novel. Both Scott and Ramona were flawed people. Scott spends the whole story finding out the flaws of Ramona, and ends up facing his own flaws as well and accepting them. Ramona spends the story sort of falling back into her old habits and feeling scared of new things, which she resolves to work on getter better about with Scott by the end.
    The movie is not the original version of these characters. It’s a condensed version. It couldn’t do all the development they got in in the books regarding their character and relationship.

    • @zest2.5
      @zest2.5  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    They didn’t “fix” her, she’s still a god awful person as seen in her future self. She literally tells the audience that her past self and her now self are the same. Just because she doesn’t let her past define her doesn’t mean she won’t make the same mistakes.
    Scott and Ramona are both terrible people who can be terrible together. It’s fated that way.

      It's completely beyond me how they thought 8 episodes were enough. 8 times 20 minutes is roughly 160 minutes, that's shorter than most feature length movies nowadays.
      It was destined to not live up to the comics quality. Most people who love it only saw the movie which was even shorter.
