How about pity for the Khojaly massacre? Khojaly was an Azerbaijani-populated town of some 6,300 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh The town was subject to daily shelling and total blockade by Armenian forces during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Without supply of electricity, gas, water, or phone, it was defended by the local forces consisting of about 160 lightly armed men with one old BTR armoured personnel carrier. Article XV of the Turkmenchay Treaty signed on February 10, 1828 between the Russian Empire and Qajar Empire provided for the resettlement of Armenians. Azerbaijan is free to do whatever they want on their soil; how could this ever be classified as a war?
Not a good idea to go after language instead of content. People have died here fighting. Words change meaning with news cycles, especially on platforms like DW, but here they are just plain correct. Often you hear the phrase 'war against their own people' by countries that don't like the actions of other countries, etc. The borders in the Armenia/Azerbaijan on and off conflicts (or wars) are differently recognised by different groups of countries. Which is right depends on where you live. When weapons are discharged by trained people in an organised fashion and people could die it can be classified as a war. For instance look up the 'Great Emu war' in Australia. It fills all the conditions for being called a 'war,' so this is what it is.
@@infiniteloopcounter9444 I disagree. The one-day operation was a military operation, not a war. I think classifying that as a war would undermine other wars where significant casualties occurred and would lead to misinterpretation of other conflicts. The Turkic proto-country Azerbaijan seems to be fulfilling Turkey's historical ambitions, akin to the Armenian Genocide. There is concern that Armenia may end up like Palestine, a stateless ethnicity. In these challenging times, I extend my best wishes to the Armenian people.
It's crucial to pay attention to how white supremacists refer to the independent Armenians who democratically voted to be part of Armenia in the 1900s. They derogatorily label them as "separatists," using the term as an insult. It's important to highlight this language and challenge such biased perspectives. 0:15 Azerbaijan's military operation on its own soil is being referred to as a "one-day war"
2:18 "Azerbaijan and Armenia have fought two wars".
Not only is there a factual inconcsistency but the one-day operation in 2023 is also referred to as a war... a war against whom?
So, it was ethnic cleansing?
@@infiniteloopcounter9444 I disagree. The one-day operation was a military operation, not a war. I think classifying that as a war would undermine other wars where significant casualties occurred and would lead to misinterpretation of other conflicts.
On the other hand, pointing out inconsistencies in a news report is important in the fight against mis/disinformation.
