I’ve seen a lot of videos about car maintenance and most of them are aimed at car enthusiasts like me. This is probably the most precise and complete routine checks of a video that any car owner should do to ensure the car would be in good working condition.

Last year I learn Gardening growing a lot of food in our back yard helped with our food bill. Now. this year my goal is to learn auto repair. Just got hit with a $400.00 car repair bill. I can do basic stuff like checking the fluids changing batteries, changing head lights. I even change the spark plugs, I know that can to everything at home, can you help me get started. Thanks was thinking about take a auto class at a Vocational school just to learn the basics.

as mrjost55 said this video is a little vague. Oil is usually a lighter brown, brake fluid is light brown,Coolant is usually green or orange, when checking the air filter grab a flashlight and shine it underneath facing up and if you can't see the light its better to change it, when checking oil grab a paper towel and wipe it then put it back in and take it out and check it with the handle facing down to get a accurate reading, with tire pressures its easier to check the drivers door.

Do your own maintenance yourself if you can! It will save you a lot of money and you'll know it was done correctly. I track my maintenance schedule using software on my laptop www.lonewolf-software.com/automotivewolf.htm It sends me reminders when any type of maintenance is required. It also tracks all the parts, expenses and creates a very detailed vehicle maintenance log.

Ben's right, what the car manufacturer recomends is what you should go by in most cases. Most manufacture air pressure recommendations can be simply found on the side of the drivers' door panel and in some vehicles the gas cap cover. The wall of the tire only tells the max air pressure which is not good to go off of since this number is usually higher then the recommended and meant for the most strenuous capacity the vehicle can take, not typical driving. Most cases you'll only have to worry

I feel like there were a lot of crucial topics of automotive repair hit in this video that every car owner needs to know if they want to own a car. The big ones are reading tire pressure, checking oil levels, and checking your anti-freeze to identify leaks or low levels. about truck tires that have been changed to a higher pressure or vice versa. If the truck tires' max psi is 80 and the door recomends 35 or so then you should go off the tires putting around 60 psi in the front and 80 in the rear. Same goes if the tires have been changed to a lower air pressure which is to go off of the tire and not the door. If the tires max is 44 and the door says 65 you shouldn't put 65 but probably air them up to around 40. So trucks are the only thing to worry about.

I love your video content! **Problem** I have a 2005 GMC Yukon XL 5.3 Vin# 1GKEC16Z75J154574. Start no crank problem until 2nd start attempt. Checked fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail. With the Key on but not started the pressure indicates 25+- psi but quickly declines to 0. Checked after vehicle starts pressure holds steady at 48psi. Once vehicle cranks no problem accept a light rough idle. Fuel pump is original from factory. Current mileage is 241k. I don't see a fuel regulator to check. Anything else to do before replacing fuel pump. Hesitant to replace pump cause once cranked there are no problems. I thought fuel pump failure was all or nothing. Thank you for your help.

    Hello,
I am using motomaster tire inflator. While I was filling the 2nd tire, a internal fuse was blown up from the inflator and dropped on the ground. I filled out all four tires one after another. It didn't stop working. Out of my curiosity, i was searching in the google for more information, but I didn't get the answer i am looking for.
My question: Is it ok to continue using this inflator or i should replace the fuse?

We can see that you check the fluids but I feel like you glossed over some parts that we should be able to see more clearly such as how to measure the level of oil when you check the oil stick etc. I know this but for people who are learning the basics they really need to see a close-up of that and an explanation of where the oil levels need to be

Question: does it matter whether you check the tire pressure when the vehicle weight is sitting on the tire, or when the vehicle is propped up, like how you have it in the video?

Nothing major with the motor but things like seals, CA's, lots of lil things, I actually had a 2.8 A6, motor was solid but the rest of the car fell apart. I loved and hated it.
