Miaka was told outright that each priestess has to be a virgin to summon the gods; Nakago deliberately kept the truth from Yui, because she would then have realized that she had never been raped. Also, for over 9 years she was the most important person in Miaka's life, only to get replaced by Tamahome, a hot and charming guy for sure, but who nevertheless knew nothing about Miaka and who wasn't even a real person. Teenagers get jealous when their best friends begin dating, because it means they can't spent that much time together anymore. Yui wasn't jealous of Miaka, she was jealous of Tamahome.
