I'm sorry but if I was like Houki or anybody standing around listening to Maiyo's gross sick romance story, I'd have more of a "What the fuck" look on my face rather than a concerned expression. Lol
I don't sympathize with Mayo at all, BUT just none of it makes sense. She stated in the original that the characters all stay the same and the priestesses are different and it's been happening since forever. All of the main seishi became celibate after their priestesses passed out of the book. I know that anime has problems with continuity, but this is just too much to dismiss. Miaka's job was done, so the cycle should start with, I believe, Genbu again. Different priestess, same seishi.
Why doesn't Taka say anything when Maiyo is lying her as off? Like "you witch your killing my wife take off that ring!" Its so frustrating! And using the baby as a shield how low can you get! Maiyo deserves no mercy!

Maiyo is truly one of the most hateable characters in all of anime. It’s honestly kind of impressive.
真夜が『美朱が最後に自分の幸せを祈ったせいよ』って言ってたけど、この永光伝は原作漫画から続きを書かれた小説版のOVA化なのか(原作：鬼宿と一緒になりたい、アニメ版：戦いで壊れた街の修復)
