this is probably one of the few, maybe the only instance, when Seinfeld had an emotional heartfelt moment.
The whole "Kramer goes to Hollywood" is one huge emotional rollercoaster... Jerry and George go after him because they cared. The end is very touching.

I loved that Seinfeld wasnt emotional like others
Its easy to add an emotional angle to keep the audience hooked. But Seinfeld was so funny that it nevr needed one

Actually this was the one time it did get into drama territory with Elaine being upset jerry was distancing himself from her via lousy present and card.
These early episodes are almost like a 'real' show, where it's doing character development. What makes later seasons funny is they don't develop at all.

Elaine reading the Yeats quote from Kramer's gift card and her reaction is one of the very few genuinely heartfelt moments on the show.
In the first two or three seasons the characters are not zombies.
Yeah, in the episode where Elaine is trying to see a doctor for her rash, Kramer doesn't even know her last name and she calls him a jackass. It's weird how they lose a lot of the heart they showed in the earlier seasons.

Agreed, they were definitely more rounded characters early on and the show had real heart. Eventually they just became sitcom caricatures. Well-written and well-acted caricatures, but less warmth.

One more reason the finale was so heinous. Kramer would have tried to help the guy getting mugged; he tried to help everybody. He should have hung out more with his other friends, like Bob Sakamano. These three were toxic, and bad luck for him.
The expression on her face after opening the box ans she goes " Let me see the card" !
Fatigued disgust, my mum does that exact same expression when she's unimpressed by something.
When I rewatched Seinfeld couple weeks ago again, and this scene came up, I was laughing at What are you... my Uncle? But when Kramer looked at Jerry, and said Yeats with that smile, I died laughing.... love this show!

William Butler Yeats died in France, but buried in County Sligo. Ireland, fantastic place, beautiful views of the mountains and the best graveyard. All of the best Celtic crosses anywhere I’ve ever seen.

In economics this is called lump sum tax (or subsidy). Technically, since no one knows the receiver’s preference better than him/herself, it is better to just give him/her the total amount and let him/her use to use it accordingly.
