    Beautiful track! I noticed you're not using an Intellijel 1uMidi or a Mutant Brain Hexinverter module for the Digitakt / Digitone. How are you connecting them to your eurorack system? What outputs / inputs are you utilizing on the back of the Digitakt? Any info would be greatly appreciated. It can be tricky to figure this stuff out 😂

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 🙏 glad you like the sounds. With respect to MIDI, one of the Elektron boxes is sending midi to the other Elektron and then the MIDI Thru output of that second box is going into the mutable instruments Yarns (top left of case) which is a eurorack midi interface and sequencer. Yarns is then sending clock in the modular.

    • @mrnessss

    This is so beautiful and relaxing! I am interested in learning how to use different synthesizers but don't know where to start. any suggestions? Thanks so much for sharing your work :)

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you so much for such kind words. Really exciting to hear you are interested in Synthesisers. My suggestions would be any or all of the following: 1) researching and buying a small synth that perfectly demonstrates all the components of a synth signal path with knobs that allow you to interact with those components (something like the Volca’s by Korg or Mother-32 by Moog). 2) Downloading VCV rack, which is a free modular synthesiser application for your computer. With that you will be able to build and explore the modular side of these instruments. Thanks for engaging with my music, really means a lot 🙏🏼.

  • @cold_fashioned
    @cold_fashioned 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So. Nice. Thank you for sharing. What is norns doing here? Cheers

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for listening!! Norns here is running 'cheat codes' which is a set of asynchronous loopers. I'm using it as a send effect for the Modular and Digitakt and then returning the stereo output back into the mixer on a couple free channels. I'm still learning the Norns... so mainly using it as an effects processor rather than a sequencer or standalone instrument.

    • @cold_fashioned
      @cold_fashioned 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info. Funny enough, that's actually more of what I'm looking for in norns to start. It seems to be tough to find examples of it being used for fx, but it seems like it would be great for that.
      How is cheat codes without the grid? Or do you also have a grid?

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheat Codes without the grid (and in my hands) is a little limited... I think a lot of its functionality is build up around gestures that you can initiate with the grid. And I don't have a grid.

    this is awesome. how do i get into something like this?

    • @TheSynthZone
      @TheSynthZone 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      just get together a few k, find an empty room to work in, take some college classes on e music, dump any ideas of what your subconscious really thinks....spend about 40 years playing and go home and sleep well?

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I’m glad you really liked it! @TheSynthZone had an interesting take on it, and I can not argue with the fact modular requires a certain amount of money invested. But my opinion would be explore and learn about synthesisers and electronic instruments and see where it takes you. I spent most of my childhood and late teens playing guitar and enjoying it but didn’t feel I was learning to make the music I wanted to make. So sold a few instruments, invested it into some new gear and started learning... and as I’m sure my videos show I’m still very much learning!!!

    • @illaarocc9469

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Glad you like the feel of this one 🖤I agree with it being a bit of a moody tone. The little black box is a DIY version of the Monome Norns (called Fates). Here its running a script called 'Cheat Codes' which is a set of live loopers that run asynchronously.

    So good! How do you sequence the chords? still struggling with it..and where did you get those thick white cable? =D

    • @FormsMusic
      @FormsMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for stopping by and listening. A lot of the more repetitive melodic lines are coming from Digitone in this one. I am sequencing some chords from the modular here that come in and out throughout and they are sequenced in the modular via a module by mutable instruments called Marbles. Also the larger white cables are some signal splitters from a company called PolarNoise.
