It's channels like yours that remind me: It doesn't matter what gear you have, because each person has their own sound. No matter what you play, your music will sound like your music. It's all about the player, not the instrument. You have such a wide array of gear, and you make everything work in your favor, no matter what it was meant for. You take a sampler meant for house music and you turn it into an ambient dreambox. It makes people like me, with minimal setups, more hopeful for our futures. Thanks. I love it.
While it may be true that everyone has their own sound, not everyone goes in search of it, and fewer still find it - it takes work! :) All credit to R Beny for being one of those few!
I was feeling worried about what kind of hear I should buy next. Then I saw his mishmash of gear made into this perfect chorus and I realized it’s all about what works for the sound you want, not which one is “better” or has more functions.
The cold dead silence when it ended hit me like ice water waking me from a dream. I didn’t realize how lost in thought I had become. This took me places. Thank you
I. must say.. your music is truly inspiring. The way you weave together sounds to create such a rich, immersive atmosphere... is nothing short of remarkable. It’s clear how much thought and artistry you put into every detail... and it really shows. Your music has been a huge influence on me... and this track only deepens my admiration. Can’t wait to hear what you create next!
I am sure Brian Eno would be impressed by this. Please make a lot more and make it available to buy. I could live with this work at ambient level all day long.
I saw the comment on here that was really disparaging. I know you don't know me, but I find your work beyond inspirational. I hope you'll never let anything like that get you down because you are pure gold R Beny.
thanks for the kind words. i just had to laugh that bad comment off. i'm happy that the comment sections on my videos are usually positive. i try to answer any questions and to interact whenever i can.
if you're having a shitty morning, just replace your coffee with 10-20min of some gorgeous r beny tunes and you're set.feeling chilled, inspired and motivated now.
At the moment, this video has 49,000 views. I am responsible for 48,864 of those views (the people responsible for the 136 comments must explain the remaining views). This is magical. I made a playlist with some of your videos, and I listen to them in so many different contexts. I started putting it on in the background when I studied and worked. I have serious anxiety and it helps calm me down, feel relaxed, and allows me to maintain motivation. I often have really bad anxiety at night (like so bad I have occasionally had panic attacks), and this helped me shut off my never ending night thoughts of dread - and it helped me fall asleep. I even started playing it when I write in my journal, bc the whole ambience is not only relaxing but also inspires reflection and introspection. And finally, sometimes I listen just to listen. These are masterpieces, your creations. This one in particular just blows me away. Every little plink and hum contributes to this gestalt river of auditory gold. I could listen to this one for hours on end - and I have, and will continue to do so lol. I subbed the first time I really listened to you, but I wish I could unsub just to sub to you again. Thanks for putting your art out there. The world is better for it.
thank you, i am glad you enjoy my music and that it can help with your anxiety. i have anxiety as well, and music is one of the few things that can me help get through it. i'm honored that my music does it for you. this comment made my day!
r beny I must’ve missed this entirely, but that’s wonderful that your music helps you and is such a positive force in your life. It definitely is for us (:
Amazing and cinematic! I see the module configuration changes a lot too. Ive been thinking of the voltage block varigate combo for a while as the main sequencer for a new case. Though this time I see its only voltage block
As cool as modular synths may look, I don't really think people who use them often achieve a really interesting track with its sound. You, sir, create wonderful and unique pieces.
aww man, now I want to play minecraft. I swear, I'd just build me a little house and watch sunrise and sunset and listen to the music sometimes. hahaha.
Hi rbeny :) You have been a big inspiration in my recent decision to get into Modular, so far it's going amazingly. Just a couple quick questions if you don't mind.. How are you running your Modular into your mixer? Are you just using a 3.5mm ts to 1/4 ts adapter? Also what is that interesting cv bus looking thing next to the Digitakt? I'm having a blast but sometimes the utility side of things can feel a bit defeating. Thank you!
i am using 3.5mm TRS to 1/4" TS adapters when running into my external mixer. i'm currently using the ones you can buy from control. and i believe you are talking about the cv.ocd? it's a midi to cv converter. 4 channels of cv and 12 channels of gates. very useful!
r beny and you are just running regular ts patch cables into those adapters? Interesting! And ya that sounds like a really useful device. I’ll have to rethink selling my Deluge, getting that could make it a very powerful modular sequencer. Decisions..
It does but it’s limited to 2 cv outputs/channels, but with that cv.ocd I could use midi as cv channels too making it a much better euro sequencer! (I think). A couple more things if you don’t mind.. How are you liking the er-301? What do you find you use it for mostly? I was thinking of looking into it later down the road for sampling, but it’s pricey and pretty big in a small rack and seems a bit confusing.. Also also, do you find the morphegene and Magneto play nicely together? They both look like such amazing and fun modules that I can’t decide which I want more. Maybe both is the answer..
only available here. was one of the last videos I did where I recorded the performance to my phone along with the video. if I separated the audio from the video, the quality wouldn't be high enough to pass Bandcamp's standards :(

This track makes me envison someone in deep pain being showered with love and compassion. beautiful.
Thats kind of how I feel just maybe instead of love it's peace to me.
You are the king of plings and plongs.

Epic.

Everytime I can't come up with anything good in my DAW I come here! Your sound reminds me there are no limits! thanks bro!
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. this is what accenting to heaven sounds like
Healing music. It comforts my soul. Thank you.
This is taking me back to the Golden Age of Electronic Music - Tangerine Dream, Klaus Shulze, Edgar Froese, Jean-Michele Jarre, Suzanne Ciani!
I love this! Rare to hear an “ambient” work that is compelling beyond the first :30 seconds! Great work man!

Very wow, much flutter, many crinkle, such tape age!

@@rbeny I hear ya :) I'm surprised that someone would go to a channel full of chill and toss in a drama bomb; lame.
This is SO good. Probably the best modular ambient track on youtube :)
This is a really good trip. Thank you

What a beautiful set up, & amazing sound. I'm becoming a fan TH-cam dude, not gonna lie..
Excellent work sir! As usual you've got a very good feel for generative modular ambient.

Oh yes bro!! This is great. Can’t wait to have a play with the Magneto.

Rosetta Stoned yeah going through a bit of a studio change :) the V8 was great, but just too big for how much I was using it.
100% on board with this
stunning
Cool set up!
Gorgeous
Love the stringy sounds. Thought it was the peak, but it’s not used in this video
Adnan Alsannaa those stringy sounds are the plonk. will do more peak videos soon
I love this! Reminds me of Aphex Twin's chill ambient stuff.
Yes! exactly that same beautiful, calm, endless vibe

Wow lovely

Is it possible for that rig to not make beautiful music? Excellent module selection... two rings? Two plonks? Smart man.
maravilloso
Really lovely 😻
The early 80's called, they want their music back, can I go with it too?
Holy jesus that's lush

Absolutely beautiful. Which module is making the random melodic patterns? I *love* this.
It's a mixture of Clouds and Magneto
Which ER-301 unit you fade in at 0:50? Really like this silky stretched kind of layer :3
I can't exactly recall, but if I had to guess it sounds like the time-stretcher unit (with some stereo delay)
Seriously, do you have anything up on Spotify?
This is just magnificent!
