    So damn professional/Viritouse. Don't understand anything about what you do, but sounds absolutely right.
    I'm a 51 year old artist who started with music 10 years ago. Piano because I wanted to understand what Philip Glass was doing. Then two years ago I bought an Arturia microbrut, and then I fell down the rabbit hole. Mother 32, mutable, synthesis technology etc.
    Thank you for what you are doing, making human sounding music whit modules. So rare and, in lack of a better word, inspiring.

      jonas eggen You are inspiring too. As someone who got into music at 26, I sometimes think I have come too late at the party. Stories like your make me remember it is the journey and curiosity and the feel good of these tracks and getting the knowledge along the way about it all. Sounds cheesy...but it’s the way it is!

    • @jonaseggen2230
      @jonaseggen2230 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      You say: "like the universe, a space of endless possibilities".
      I say: "also include time into the equation". Stegosaurus lived about 150.8 million to 155.7 million years ago. Tyrannosaurus Rex became extinct about 65 million years ago. There is less years between the Trex and us than between these two dinosaurs. Geological time perspectives and the size of the universe for me makes almost anything and everything beautiful and bearable. (There is a bear in bearable)
      Contrary to the visual arts that I am educated in, in music time is part of the experience of the audience. But also in the making of visual arts time flies and or becomes irrelevant. I also experience and believe that music is something we find more than it is something we make. That it it is pre-human, and that it exists as long as there are ears.
      To me it sounds like you been doing music all your life. Audrey Niffenegger is a visual artist who eventual wrote "The Time Traveler's Wife". They made a film based on this book it I read is not so good, and her paintings are ok, but this novel is one of the best I' ever read. To change direction, find new spaces, recreate your self and get new experiences or knowledge I believe defines you and your age.
      Cheese btw is one of the greatest inventions of man.
      Thank you for your reply, I did not expect that.

      jonas eggen I am in constant search of wisdom that speaks to me, and I must say I did not expect this. I guess I must be doing something right to be bestowed upon something so enlightened in, out of all places, here? Now? Your words truly found home in some empty spaces I had about my purpose and role of music in my life and me. I am grateful that this is public too, and that someone else might see your perspective and kind words too. Thank you, most unexpected and welcome of you, kind stranger.

      Thank you : ) I am glad that you found meaning in my words, and at the same time also honored and surprised. Your comment and this video is the reason that makes me surf TH-cam instead of the Face, or watching TV.
      I believe what we get or find has less to do with what we do or Karma than with "chance" or "random". Not in the true sense of these words, but more like what is attempted to create in computers or with eurorack modules. We are sometimes lucky or unlucky depending on what crash into or triggers events. Like a game of pool. That what we do is the result of previous events. No one lives or experience life like that, but:
      "Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either
      Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else's".
      Mary Schmich (From "Everybody’s Free To Wear Suncreen"
      th-cam.com/video/sTJ7AzBIJoI/w-d-xo.html

    • @marinbaric5465
      @marinbaric5465 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ditto regarding the surfing. You choose - do you consume other content? Or are you on your way to create and leave some impression, something behind you? Nobody cares - but you. All we have to do is choose what to do with the time that is given to us...words of a great wizard :) Your words seem like they come out of some meditation practice, whose primary purpose is also to understand that all things are impermanent and transient, and that clinging to safety of non changing and autopilot routines is essentially wasting ourselves away. I wish you all the best and more on your path to further music to be stumbled upon, as you say. I have followed you and I fully expect that I will see some great music from you on your channel!

    Emergence is a beautiful phenomenon. Chaos theory from which it derives is the primer for tangible existance, or so what we perceive as existance.

    I can’t decide if this describes the sound of ripples on a lake colliding and intertwining; or the interaction of particles over millions of miles in the near vacuum of space.
    But whatever it is for me, it’s certainly beautiful.

  • @orsheeboo

    Live patching, fantastic! That's a real performance. There's a tendency of modular performances to be people staring at knobs looking slightly bemused. Not normally very interesting. But patching from scratch, and pulling it off like this makes a really compelling performance. Well done!
    And your videos project such a sense of serenity. I secretly hope that behind the camera is a kitchen with dirty dishes piled up in the sink, muddy boots strewn about the floor and a teetering tower of books and papers about to topple... I don't think I could muster more than about 25 x 25cm square of anything approaching that level of calm in my house.

    Dude, I'm in love with what you make. If laws in my country allowed it, I'd marry your music. I'd go in a forest with her where she could resonate with the wind and would tell her that she makes me forget about war, death and separation. She should vibrate far into the universe because if someone should know womething about humanity, it should be this sound. If I could just follow it for as long as my blood is warm, I'd be ok.
    Keep it up

I noticed you using the malekko voltage block in several of your older videos, but that seems to have been replaced by the hermod in your newer stuff. Which of these sequencers would you recommend for these types of soundscapes? Looking forward to your next video!

    First off, thanks for your music! really wonderful stuff, that actually decided me to start my journey into modular
    But I also have a technical question... Is it the akai mpk mini mkII that you are using here? 'cause I just got it and I don't manage to get it to work with hermod... But I'm using the 'usb host' while you're using the 'usb device' port. Do you think it could come from that? Have you had any other issues (I saw that other people have issues with this keyboard and hermod on the squarp forum)?
