I've only played tanks in TWW and I already left the expansion for these reasons: 1. Tired of route memorization and being required to run some websites route or people get angry 2. Aoe Stuns not preventing recasts 3. Dungeons vs Survivability is just wildly out of tune for the average player 4. Toxic community 5. No one has patience anymore
For me the main reason is the toxic community. You literally can't learn to tank. With the current speed players want there is no curve possible, only when U play with friends
nowadays there is toxic everywhere... i wish there was something to do but I think you will always see players who dont have the patience for nothing. you said it yourself, the best way to learn is with calm friends.
The amount of times someone tells me 'Pull more.' The DPS then pull for me because I'm not going 'fast enough' and then everyone wipes is a common occurrence. The real issue is WoW players feel entitled to pull like it's the MDI while also not having the ilevel for it or knowing how to play their class.
@@oldmanbanjo yea this is something that i sometimes get from my friends aswell...i can stop my friends (sometimes) but some pugs are something else haha
The best way to counter this is to be transparent in your group formation. Let people know that you're learning. If I started a group for like an 8 and you sign up to tank then my expectation is that you know how to tank. But if you put a group up in group finder with a note that says "learning to tank come learn the dungeons with me" you're going to get a whole different crowd of people who are more likely to be chill
Im 2400+ IO VDH pug only. I think the problem is you need to put in extra "work" to tank like routing and LEARNING the whole dungeon. You can't just wing it. People want the fast que but not the extra work. As a pug tank you also have to grind to overgear content before you proceed to give you room for pug errors.
I've pushed over 3k in previous expansions and seasons as VDH. My health has never felt spikier. Even just white hits feel crazy right now, but also the enrage/empower mechanics (Dawnbreaker tacticians, Grim Batol enforcers, etc.) that happen too often or too many enemies have it, so you can't clear it off them and of course on 12s and 13s they destroy me. Dawnbreaker 1-shot boss requires external cooldowns, and healers will call you trash for dying to a 1-shot because you cycled all your mitigations, even withholding dps to survive, but my CDs don't recycle in time with the 1-shot. I'm used to VDH having weaker moments between CDs - I'm not a newbie - but I've never felt more helpless and reliant on other people.
I’ve mained blood dk and pally mostly in the past and dabbled in VDH and other tanks enough. I really like VDH hero talents super fun but dude they do not have enough cool downs to survive those long boss fights it gets to a point where it’s impossible unless you play the cheat death. That being said all the other tanks feel like crap to play they feel squishy as shit compared to other expansions.
@@candulimataoo2852 It's probably the hardest season on tanks in a long time, for sure. But either play cheat death or switch. The game isn't balanced properly
I haven't tanked since WoD and that was even a half-hearted attempt. This is the first season ever where I've seriously tried to tank, I'm enjoying it. Season is challenging and has provided a decent progression for me, currently up to 8-10s now. I doubt I will tank beyond getting my portals, but it's fun, but it does demand a lot of concentration, research ahead of time, and leadership. My particular secret is I refuse to pug, I don't tank with a static or a with guildees, I've engaged with a community that has strict rules on behavior and when players all agree to act like adults M+ is great fun.
1. You can't really learn unless risking someones key. Which revives the old discussion of why does keys have to deplete. 2. It feels you have 70% of the responsibility of the keys succcess and are alone in your role unless dps who are always 3. 3. Many players are backseat tanking and toxic "go faster" "pull more" "whats this route?!11" 4. Meanwhile tanking itself (at least on protpally) feels mechanically challenging as you have to play pretty well on high keys to not get oneshot. I love tanking and I would love to overcome the anxiety it means, but its rough sometimes. Imo blizzard should overhtink the depletion system to relief some of the pressure on keys/depletion which might would help with toxicity.
Yesterday i tanked my first +11 Boralus Key. We are all in there to try and time it and we all can make mistakes and be better no one wants to be the one messing up but it happens.
I think its hard for the newer players that havent tanked for the main reason the damage spikes make a panic feeling making them rely on there cooldowns way to much so when a tank buster hits they have nothing to survive it, i think this will improve dramatically as the expansion goes on because stats will go up and smooth this out but if your not comfortable with the class ya its super stressful.

This isn’t entirely true in a 12 key There are some tanks right now that do not have all the defensives needed to survive tank buster after tank buster. They need external help from healers or augs
I’ll say this for me personally: I feel that starting to tank now, in this current season with the difficulty being as high as it is and the toxicity of the community, is by far the best time to start. I know that when the storm finally passes I’ll be a better tank. I healed all through DF and the first part of this season, until it hit me that I wanted to tank. So I hard switched and it is for sure very difficult to properly manage my cooldowns for tank busters sometimes but it is getting easier to do. As far as the toxicity I have faced, well I thought it was going to be a lot more but so far it has been very rare. I think players are starting to realize how difficult it is and cutting us some slack. There is still the occasional jerk here and there but I try not to take what they say seriously, unless they make a valid point about a mistake I made so I don’t make it again. I’d say overall if you are thinking of tanking just do it and try to weather the current storm. The role is very rewarding when you get it down.
Why should anyone be afraid of tanking M+?.I mean, after all you just need to know what to pull, how to pull, when to pull, be fast and not die in the process. Only healers have it worse when it comes to the blame game... 😂
Hard disagree. Tanking is really fun right now, but definitely challenging. In DF it was way too easy, you were immortal with just doing a good rotation, until about +24s. Now you really have to know your spec and the dungeons to push to that level. Some of the tank busters are tough, but once you know which one they are, you know how to deal with them: Despoilers' Claws and Council Boss's Igneous Hammer in SV, Fire Giants' Punch and Flamerenders' Slash in GB, and the Beam Tankbuster on first boss of DB. Warrior can spell reflect all of those except maybe the Igneous Hammer(don't remember, haven't played the warrior In weeks cause Prot Pally is way more fun. I do agree that our mistakes feel more impactful though and doing 12s it feels like if I make a tiny mistake the key is bricked where if a DPS makes the same level of mistake they just do less dmg.

Not a tank main but ive been playing it as an alt to tank keys for our main tank who just wants to chill sometimes. Been knocking out some 10s 11s and 12s. The biggest issue im having is that white swings freaking slap. Getting meleed for 4mil by every mob is rough. The next thing is that tank busters happen too often from trash mobs. Like why are you hitting me for 8 mil every 10 seconds with cd up and 13 mil without. And last but not least is threat...it astounds me that threat is the way it is right now. Hopefully you don't have an enh shaman that's primed with tempest because they will be the new tank.
hello! season 1 TWW, for me at least is mostly dead, because of the delves! i didnt even bother do +7s while the weekly reward for 2xt8 delves are 616ilvl - for the same time spent ingame, that if you complete the +7; if one player ragequits or disconnects - the 20-30 minutes is just lost, no reward for none of us. and that time is something i dont have anymore... i did get the m+ mount and i'm working on the portals as prot warrior these days, but that's only one of my toons doing keys (in DF i did keys almost on every class, effin altoholic). oh and let's not talk about healing - my 3 healers from DF are now dps. screw healing!
I disagree with tanking nerf being the problem, its mostly the community and m+ timers that dont benefit the game in any way (the key should not deplete, extra difficulty is still present with affixes and more mob power, timer can still be there for ego leaderboards etc). I often tank m0 for new players in our social guild, we are on discord and we always clear those dungeons even though these DPS newbies dont even have enchants and are undergeared, we may wipe a few times but we succeed. Only handfull of newbies want to do m+ after they get their first keys from m0, why? Timers, every wipe hurts a lot. Community is awful and its getting worse every year.
i can agree with the timers, its stressful for a lot of players, old and new. but I think its a way to keep it competitive. I think that the rewards should stay the same even after the depletion of the key.

As a tank iv yet to have a healer do the first boss in stonevault dispel mechanic right if I don't have to tell them about 5 times. If you don't dispel this right, I die
@MyBigBlaze less pressure for the tank. Good way to learn route without anyone complaining tank pulled too much and resulted in investing too much time on killing mobs. More of a learning process. When rdy and comfy you can start timed one which could be +10 for myth gear. Under 10 it gives hero just like delve map chest...not timed...why not m+?
I'm going to respectfully disagree with this video. Tanks got used to being able to pull multiple mobs with no consequences. Now that the dungeons are a bit harder and tanks need a bit more healing the tanks are mad because they can't pull the entire floor to the first boss. I hate tanks who do that. hello! season 1 TWW, for me at least is mostly dead, because of the delves! i didnt even bother do +7s while the weekly reward for 2xt8 delves are 616ilvl - for the same time spent ingame, that if you complete the +7; if one player ragequits or disconnects - the 20-30 minutes is just lost, no reward for none of us. and that time is something i dont have anymore...
i did get the m+ mount and i'm working on the portals as prot warrior these days, but that's only one of my toons doing keys (in DF i did keys almost on every class, effin altoholic).
oh and let's not talk about healing - my 3 healers from DF are now dps. screw healing!
yea, this season is tough indeed
Agreed, this season feels terrible
I think that the rewards should stay the same even after the depletion of the key.
played prot paladin on season launch , got in to 10 keys on second week , sadly it was just weekly shenanigans then i started pushing further i reached 2.7k i did like 2/3 keys max every day if i can do it , you can also do it ,im not a top players im literaly a solo player since legion m+ introduction thats where my journey started , i don't understand why people think its that hard , just pick a class , learn your stuff , go to mythic dungeon tool , click on mobs , learn their stuff and understand that some mobs have tank buster or massive group dmg casts , slowly grind your way up , you don't need to be albert einstein to figure out that defensives should be used on specific mob pack , slowly adapt , watch guides and thats it , i"ve seen a dude coming to my key with 1.5k raider io , he timed a siege six , he died on every boss mechanic , and those are probably some of the people who say m+ is hard , just play the damn game and stopwhining , its like the game became so based on " waaaaaa but me don't find game fun cause i have to do some effort" get a grip.
Lol. 'into 10 keys on second week' also...'im not a top player' as well as 'slowly grind your way up'
If you were pugging +10 on week 2 as a prot paladin then you are top 1% at that time. Either you are chatting shit or you did actually accomplish that are making it seem a breeze. Either way you are not helping new tanks get into m+
Really I beg you to prove me wrong 🤣
This is so hilarious to me.
*Solo player
*Prot paladin
*Did 2/3 keys every day.
*Doing +10s on second week
* Says slowly grind your way up
*Slowly adapt and watch guides
The calamity of contradictions are wild. Can't wait for you to A. Ignore me. B. Delete your comment. C. Make up some more mumbo jumbo and never ever prove you did +10 week 2
@@BISHSPLASH how im i gonna prove you that i did 10 on week 2 ? i said i did the bs 10 no leaver its not hard when you do 2/3 kets as a tank thats 21ish keys a week , and before the end of the second week i tried to sneak up 10 keys even if i don't time them , i wanted my myth , your just a delusional person thinking that nothing is can be easy cause you think so , i don't need to prove shit to you , not like i can do , like what are you smoking how can i prove i did a 10 on week 2? , also why you think as a tank getting fast progress is not a thing ? tank one of the easiest role to farm keys and progress , also im not trying to help people not like i give a shit about random dudes thats gonna start crying like you. cause i had my share of triggered people on comments and its not a palace to help , cause everyone like to be triggered , thats what they do best and everything you say is wrong , and only their opinion matter , i think you can relate bud i know , play tank check guides use mthic dungeon tool to check mob tank busters , manage your cds , slowly grind your way up and you'll realize how easy playing tank is.
@@BISHSPLASH i literaly typed the weekly shenanigans yet you refused to read that , think brother its nice sometimes
Reason 1, and the only one: The community.
I tank and heal for my friends, but the SECOND i stepped into even just a headless horsemen encounter people flamed each other. I do not pay nor invest my time into shit like this, nor will i ever play with people like that. If i have to random queue, i would never do anything but DD
Yea i totally understand you,
Pugs life is toxic and not fun.
Sometimes i do get a good group tho.
I already quit the game for season 1 because my prot paladin felt like a wet paper bag and it was wildly unfun
No one want to tank, because of the toxic environment. I have been tanking for 6 seasons, it's just getting worse and worse
i did tank at the start of the season but with no real team, pugs are not fun as a tank imo
slow painful runs doesnt matter if its 2+ or 12+ u cant do big runs too many tactics - you cant solo shit u need a healer to heal thank you blizzard
if you think tanking is bad bc people blame you, try healing
I've been healer for 10+ years...mid dragonflight i decided "no more".
i have a video on healers actually back in dragonflight
that got some views
@ it’s horrible the amount of times you get blamed for dps not using cc and dying to RNG web bolts then proceed to blame the healer as if they could stop that
As a tank iv yet to have a healer do the first boss in stonevault dispel mechanic right if I don't have to tell them about 5 times. If you don't dispel this right, I die
@@wilksy1993 yea, i see it a lot on pugs.
not a lot of healers understand the mechanic
My #1 issue with healers is u spent most of the time staring at hp bars, i wanna play the game not have to babysit the hp barsss
Remove timer under +10. Fixed.
@@tommysvibe4484 what it will fix?
You can still do the key even after the timer
@MyBigBlaze less pressure for the tank. Good way to learn route without anyone complaining tank pulled too much and resulted in investing too much time on killing mobs. More of a learning process. When rdy and comfy you can start timed one which could be +10 for myth gear. Under 10 it gives hero just like delve map chest...not timed...why not m+?
Feel like there is a lot of issues with this season. Has a lot of people hardly playing the game at all compared to previous seasons
honestly i feel that there is more ppl trying this season.
the keys situation is bad tho
I'm going to respectfully disagree with this video. Tanks got used to being able to pull multiple mobs with no consequences. Now that the dungeons are a bit harder and tanks need a bit more healing the tanks are mad because they can't pull the entire floor to the first boss. I hate tanks who do that. Both my son and I enjoy the new systems. Measured controlled pulls instead of bum rushing through the dungeon.
Laughing at you rush rush tanks.
I respect your answer and opinion...im sure some players like the new system.
Download the addon that shows avoidable damage taken
Post im chat when the d0s get 1 shotted
Man heal sucks also so hard
Good video!
Thank You =]
