The dude from junkyard digs will put his hand over the intake until it almost dies to create a vacuum and lift his hand off and it pulls dirt out of the jets etc. quick and dirty but thought it was a cool tip! Cool vid!

Hey,today my mower was running pretty good while i mowed the yard,but it just shutted off,i opened the carbonator and cleaned it off and everything looks good and fine,it sparked and started up,but then it shutted off again.What do you think i need? Any advice is great advice.Thank you!
If you cleaned the carburetor and it starts up but dies on its own, it's safe to say either the carb is still dirty or the gas tank has dirt in it, and it made the carb dirty again. Or you could have bad gas, check the gas you have in it for water or dirt. The likely thing is the carburetor is still dirty. Make sure you put everything together correctly and sprayed through all the holes with carb or brake cleaner, and reassemble. If it's still doing this, try replacing the carb, sometimes dirt just doesn't want to come out.

If the people stating the musics too loud can’t lower the volume on their phone, I suggest you dnt try cleaning the carb on your mowers, cheers for the short video on how to take longer in real-time to clean your mowers carb 👍🏻

Are you sure this five-minute task using your steps? For me it will at least an hour or maybe more if I lose all the tiny parts.
This is a video teaching you how to do it, in 5 minutes. Not expecting you to do it in 5 minutes yourself
You don’t have a gasket on your carb. I have one on mine. I wonder why? It goes where the carb attaches to the gas tank.
Yes, a gasket goes between the carburetor and the gas tank before you screw it down. This makes a seal so no gas leaks out.

Do you know the part number for that carburetor?
It's been years since this video has been made, and one thing I forgot to do was provide a part number. However you can easily find the carburetor on Amazon, just search from the sticker on the mower that says the brand and model and hp, and match it to the pictures of the ones that come up. That's what I always did! Hope this helps.
Yeah, that's how you do it, but show us all in one continuous video clip (normal speed) doing it in under 5 mins :)

First, drink about 12 cups of coffee, second down a whole bucket of redbull, then maaayyybe you can get this done in five minutes. The title clearly states you can get this done in five minutes...CLEARLY.
Your comment sounds like you've actually tried with that much caffeine. The video shows you how to clean this carburetor in under 5 minutes, it will take longed for you to actually do it. This is supposed to be a very simple video for people to get their mower running, there are not many steps hence shorter video

What do I do if I lose the spring off the carb?
The spring was there for a reason, so you're going to have to find it, or get a new one unfortunately

If you spray brake clean by the spark plug when testing for spark, its gunna catch on fire. You can just have someone hold the spark plug tip on yhe head of the motor
Brake cleaner will not catch on fire outside of the spark plug hole. The spray is going inside the hole and you tighten back down the spark plug before starting it on the fluid. The only "fire" would be the cylinder firing if you have spark. This test is superior to the spark plug ground test because if the engine runs on flammable fluid, that means you know you have spark, you have compression, valves are functioning, and there probably isn't internal damage. Is there a small chance for a fire outside the motor? It's not impossible, but a little fire for 2 seconds does not cause harm to anything. You would have to dump gas all over the engine for it to cause damage

I used carb cleaner. You can find the cheapest ones at Walmart or O'Reillys
I started using brake cleaner though, which also works well
Ya my understanding is brake fluid will work as long as u don't get it on the rubber / plastic parts?
@@MrVARhythm it does sometimes shrink rubber parts but plastic should be good
taken the carby apart you should at least replace the gasket they are usually knackered, also being so dirty i would take out the primmer bulb
and clean it from inside as they too are generally filthy in behind
Those are great points. If the gasket is damaged it should be replaced or fixed. And while it may not stop the engine from running, the primer bulb should be cleaned as well
Thank you for mentioning that- I didn't know it could be done. I'll clean mine tomorrow. Also going to reclean the gas tank.

Sounds about right. Use power tools and air compressor to get rid of the dirt before you remove anything.

You did everything except replace the rubber "primer bulb" which is what is broken on mine .
You will be able to do it fairly easily. Just take off the housing and you can pry it out with a small flat head screw driver and just push the new one in

Unfortunately I made this video when I was younger and didn't have as much editing experience. Hopefully you can take something from the video by just visuals, many many people were helped out regardless of the music.
@@BlakesBuilds I just ordered an electric mower from Amazon. Small engines have become so rickety, I have given up. They aren't worth paying to have them repaired or taking a couple of days to get all the right tools, finding the right videos and then monkeying with them. I've already lost a day messing around with a locked up mower that I bought this summer. 😞

I've NEVER liked someone shoving their choice of music in their viewer's face. If you want to do a music vid, DO A MUSIC VID. I come here to learn about mowers, and I hate to have to mute the sound in case I miss some instructions etc. (BTW, I put myself through university in large part by playing in bar-bands, so no, I don't hate rock. But...a time and a place...) ALSO, do you know how many different types of mowers (and so types of carbs) there are out there? You don't even mention the brand. I can see it's a Briggs and Stratton but ONLY because I caught a glimpse of the sticker on the tank. I have a mower with a 158cc B&S, and the carb is different from yours. So please avoid generic assurances like the one you made here and SPECIFY what kind of mower and carb. On 2nd thought, maybe just stick with music vids.
Thanks for the input, but you can clearly see what type of carb it is in the thumbnail. Also if you can't deal with a 2 second volume button tap or a mute then watch a different video that has a bunch of rambling and talking, taking you double the time to learn how to fix your mower. There's a reason my video is #1 for this search

If it starts and dies whether it's from starter fluid or not, that's a carb issue almost 100% likely. Make sure you sprayed through all the ports in the carb and drained/cleaned gas tank. The gas may not be dirty, but could have water in it that's hard to see. Also, if the carb you're working on is a plastic carb, those sometimes do not clean easily and you may have to buy a new carb entirely
