Another helpful video, Thanks :) I bought the motobike tire you list and installed it on my HRN per your instructions, and they sent my mower off to the drag races. I live on a hill side with two steep banks to mow and now no more slipping. With the old tread it would go to slipping and the mower would shoot off down the hill with me hanging on and my feet in the air. So far the tread has stayed on through two complete mowings of the yard and the Slip Plate I put on last year, per your video, is still doing it's job :) Thank you for your videos, Happy mowing to you and lets Make our Yards Great Again :)
Hey there J.B. and other Honda mower dudes. This year I finally solved the "air cleaner cover coming off when I mow close around my pine trees" issue. It's probably come off half a dozen times and I was so lucky I never ran over it. All I did was use my heat gun to heat up the tabs that are used to attach the cover. I was careful to not overheat but was able to bend them slightly, which was enough. After about 10 mows...no issue now. Maybe this tip will work for someone.
I was at my local Home Depot I noticed that they’re starting to sell Murray snowblowers. It’s odd because I haven’t seen Murray make a snowblower in years but now it seems they’re making a comeback. They’re also coming equipped with Briggs and Stratton snow engines which is also really interesting because I also haven’t seen one of those for a few years. I’m used to only seeing LCT (Ariens), Powermore(MTD), and Toro engines on equipment but now we have Briggs and Stratton coming back as well.
Nice job as usual JB. I normally give carbs a quick blast on the outside with compressed air before disassembly. Cuts back on debris and makes cleaning easier for me. I can honestly say I have never bothered to blow the carb parts off after using carb cleaner and have not had an issue. If they've been in the ultrasonic then yes to get rid of water, but I figure I use carb cleaner as a starting fluid so a little extra won't hurt it. Having said that, if leaving the carb for awhile before reassemble, I have noticed the carb cleaner sometimes leaves a residue, so maybe that's why a lot of people recommend blowing them off. Not throwing shade here, just sharing what I do. 👍
Between my Honda mower and this channel, my lawn is handled. I always use ethynol free fuel , drain the tank and winterize.............a few minutes saves many $ Thanks for sharing
No Honda here JB, but my 32 year old Deere is running like a champ :) I inherited it not running 2 years ago and it’s been an amazing workhorse. This was one of the first things I disassembeled and cleaned.
Isn't it satisfying to take something that's not working and make it for for you? Good job on the JD. Heck, that would have been a Made in USA JD, I'm sure.
Of course hard starting could also be due to the valves being out of spec. Could you do a video on how to adjust the lash on the valves? Not many good videos on this subject for this mower. I’ve been tempted to try it but my main concern is finding top dead center on the compression stroke. As you probably know, there are two top dead centers, one on the compression stroke, the other on the exhaust stroke. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work. 👍👍
Great video for the right season tuning up lawn equipment is essential. My only thought why use a dirty wire brush I find most plastic ties that come on a loaf of bread perfect for cleaning carb ports just my 2 cents worth Thx for sharing 👍

Watched the Grandsons Saturday night and Sunday late morning for bit. Probably watching the Bills game. Got the lawn mowed yesterday too! Enjoy the great weather bud!
I've worked on and owned several HRN/HRX 170/200 engines and they have all had carb issues that lead to difficulty starting. None of them have had visible debris inside any part of the carb. I'd be interested to know if anyone has found an aftermarket carb for these that's less finicky.
It's by design-- once the engine is warm, when it's idling without the blade engaged- the surging is normal because Honda made the idle circuit run the engine on as little fuel as possible for emissions purposes. You'd have to grind the screw-stop away a bit in order to give it some more fuel at idle. ALL of these machines from at least 2021 have some type of quality defect- mine didn't have its transmission fluid at the correct level or air-bled properly- I finally fixed this for this past season and it runs uphill like a go-kart now.
