I find it kind of funny how after Joker hands Maruki his calling card, he's all like "Oh right, that. Almost forgot to max my security level for the occasion."
So the 3rd awakening is kind of like accepting their current growth and past goals but also how they plan to strive for their dreams and goals without compromise. Morganna's first persona represented his envy of humans and desire to be one while his second represented his acceptance of his role as a guide and mentor to the team. His 3rd persona likely represents the fact that, even if he isn't a human, he can still uphold a gentlemanly quality he hoped he would achieve as a human. Ryuji's represents his desire to continue striving towards his trackstar dreams (shown in the sportswear his persona bears) in much the same way his original persona represented his straightforward nature. Only this time it's William without the pirate moniker, likely meaning that Ryuji plans to accomplish his dream without the delinquent moniker he used to get back at society. Ann's is surprisingly based not on the identity of her original persona but on a woman who performed as Carmen so well, the role was rewritten to suit her own character. This represents how Ann wants to become a model for the sake of being an inspiration and strength to others like herself and Shiho. Yusuke's represents his artistic spirit like Goemon but it's overly garish coat likely represents his will to set out on his own to create his own art rather than be guided by a mentor or seek the appraisal of other artists. It ties into his confidant arc about seeking true beauty and understanding all the different aspects of the human heart to find it. Makoto's persona still embodies Johanna's symbolism of being uncompromising in beliefs and moving towards a goal without hesitating but it's sleeker design gives it the impression of being a powerful and absolute arbiter of justice, likely embodying Makoto's principles and renewed passion to upholding her father's legacy with her own beliefs. Futaba's persona bears the true name of the Necronomicon and resembles a Pyramid like her palace. It no longer represents a desire to seek or give forbidden knowledge but likely to take all of that knowledge within itself (like a tomb) and use it for her own self growth. Which is likely shown by her wish to start high school. Haru's persona is a modernized Milady. While Milady represented a refined dignity that hid a rebellious spirit underneath, Lucy represents Haru working towards restoring her company's reputation and rectifying her father's wrongs by steering it in a direction that will prioritize customer happiness. She no longer acts like dainty royalty and chooses to take matters in her own hands. For Sumire, Cendrillon represented Cinderella at the ball, hiding behind a guise of royalty to escape her poor self, much like how Sumire hid behind Kasumi's identity to escape her trauma and conversely, Vanadis likely represented Sumire's true personality and decision to uphold her and her sister's dream (so in a way Cendrillon is kind of like Kasumi's persona and Vanadis is Sumire's). Ella represents Cinderella after being wed, bearing the grace and beauty seen in the girl at the ball but no longer hiding behind a false self - having been seen for who she really is. Likewise it represents Sumire upholding Kasumi's will and even appearance but staying true to herself as Sumire. Akechi's two personas represented the hatred he bore in his heart as well as the almost comically fake and superficial justice he pretended to uphold. Hereward bears Robin Hood's physique but the sleek black typical in villains. This likely represents Akechi maintaining his hatred and staying true to himself but how, in spite of that, he wishes to do the right thing even if it results in his death. Unlike Robin Hood's flamboyant and superficial appearance, Hereward represents a truly heroic spirit: One that does the right thing even if others will not see it as such. Finally come's Joker's Raoul. If Arsene represents a selfish rebellion to get back at society and Satanael represents the rebellious will of society itself, Raoul represents the rebellious will of a gentleman thief fighting for society even if they do not wish it. Maruki's reality is a golden ticket with absolutely no downsides and many people would benefit from it (not least of all the Phantom Thieves themselves). But Joker chooses to oppose that so that people can grow and move forward instead of getting complacent. This is me basically bullshitting opinion but that's how I interpret the symbolism of each persona.
Mario Tyamukueni I have a better idea: Squidward: **SEES** **FIRST** **TIER** **PERSONA** Squidward:Try to imagine him in his underwear. Squidward: **SEES* **THIRD** **TIER** **PERSONA** Squidward: Oh no he’s hot!
I get it. The first persona is the memories, the second persona is the growth. Put those two together and you get the truth, the third persona. Both the modern looks and the first name basis shows, who they were and who they became are forever now one.
Really is baffling they chose not to voice them. The second tier were all voiced although that's probably due to the added fact it's maxing the confidant. No excuse not to voice imo.
Exactly.. I actually don't know if you noticed but in P4G you will receive a special dialogue when you romance a female heroine which makes the bond more genuine.. I feel bad that every girl here feels like you are just friendzoned during 3rd awakenings of their persona's and doesn't commit any love interest at all on any of them.
It’s weird because they do have unused voiced clips which were removed for some reason. I believe Faz has them on his channel. They lines are different though.
These are all so sick. They go from characters from fictional books or magazines, to literal gods, to modern day personas. But it sucks that Raoul has to be DLC. The modern Arsene, made to be paid for...
Not only that the first forms are all people who were tricksters of some kind. And the 2nd form are all those who were persecuted in some way. And then 3rd form being the inspiration of there Orriginal persona

Haru Okumura That’s not true. I like/love Ann as Ren/Akira’s 1st female friend. To me she’s #4 Fave PhantomGirl AND #2 Fave Lovers Arcana. Also I’m judging her Personas, not Ann. And Truthfully despite what I rank her Ultimate Personas AND Persona Evolution, doesn’t change the fact that her Personas are MY #1 Fave Personas of The Lovers Arcana❤️😊
Apologizing to him, but more importantly to themselves for how easily the betrayed their ideals over Maruki's perfect world. Akechi, I feel, in his own way, was apologizing to himself over how he let his life become so completely controlled and obsessed with Shido and that he'd never let anyone decide who he was or what he'd do. That this was his last chance to truly be, "Akechi." Even at the expense of his life. I know everyone is sad that he had to die. But, ironically, this was his only opportunity to truly feel alive. Not a pawn, or a puppet, or some cliché, anime-looking, power-of-friendship, pretty-boy, detective prince. His own damn self.
I love how all their base persona’s are based on mythology or folk tale, so old fashion And their second Personas are so different and modern so When they fuse it’s like the old meeting the new, like how Celestine is blowing bubble gum, or how William is riding on a Yacht. Its a return to their true selves but with a stronger will, and this helps boost the context with them apologizing for losing their way
Yeah I'm kind of disappointed they made him a dlc persona and not another joker awakening at the start of third semester or something. Would of been cooler
I like to think of Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal as alternate universes. And that Striker is the continued adventure in the original Persona 5 universe.
Am I the only one who was slightly disappointed that the royal awakened personas didn’t carry over to Strikers? Or the second awakening personas for completing the social links?
@@theosmith6275 perhaps, but that can easily be explained as she was busy all summer with gymnastics stuff, in another country. You best believe she was following her BF and their fellow Phantoms online though, when she could
I find the idea that You and Joker canonically are awful with time management and left all their party member social links at 9 to be kind of hilarious.
@@Tubular_dude_20y_ago I’ve actually maxed out all of my social links across four playthroughs of P5R, I’ve just never been able to unlock all the royal awakenings for each of the phantoms. I’ve also never managed to get all my social links maxed out in a single playthrough, shit’s fucking impossible even if you clear out the palaces in like 2 days in-game time
I mean, I don’t think Royal is part of the canon of P5, but I think Strikers was made canon as a sequel-like thing to vanilla. I’m not positive on this though, I’ll have to double check that one.
Strikers is canon to royal in the jap release it makes a reference to the third semester but since in the us we only had vanilla the change the translation to vanilla.

lol even Atlus realized the first tier designs were better than the second tier, so now we’ve gone back to modified versions of those. I get that the second tiers are supposed to be more famous/more powerful, but man, having Captain Kidd instead of Seiten Teisei was waaaaaay cooler for a Persona.

For example: I liked Kamo-susan-oo and Anat, but it would be weird if everyone else got a third tier persona except them. Wouldn’t have it any other way... Also, is no one gonna talk about Gorokichi and Goro Akechi? (This basically means Akechi has a Robin Hood persona with the Japanese Robin Hood’s name. Damn)
god i never picked the "indecisive" ones in Akechi's awakening, but hearing him say "Your indecisiveness on the matter is essentially a betrayal of my wishes" broke me omg
Phantom thieves: "Joker! I'm so sorry I was dumb." Kasumi: "Senpai I love you, you are my everything ♡" Akechi: "You're so fucking stupid. I hate you. Just let me die"
How the hell does Haru's persona learn Tentarafoo!? Last time I checked Ann learns it at level 30. Plus its waaay too overpowered to give her mental ailments, since her primary elemental magic deals bonus damage to them. If Forget ailment works the same like in the original (it doesn't have an attack triggering technical damage), she should've got that. But I think they made Psy deal technical damage to it now, I'm not sure.
Oh I didn't notice that, that's actually amazing. It also isn't a skill from the jazz club so it's probably part from her natural skill set which is super good
@@vahe7422 I liked it better when Ann had it, so then Haru could end the foes with a single Mapsiodyne. Now she can't do that... unless Ann still learns it.
All Persona users (except Akechi and Yoshizawa I think) now have status afflicting moves since Royal has revamped technicals. They can't learn it (except for Ann/Morgana lmao) as they already have the moves from the minute they join the party
@@vahe7422 Yes, but in the original game, she learned Tentarafoo. I'm at Shido's palace already, and I know their ailment skills. Morgana learns Pulinpa, Ann gets Dormina and Lullaby. Makoto gets Makajama and Flash Bomb which is a physical attack that can inflict dizzy. Haru initially learns Tentarafoo, which kept her on the team, since I find Brainwash and Confuse the most useful ailments, next to Dizzy!
(Please correct me if I’m wrong) But isn’t Akechi’s “3rd Awakening”, a 2nd awakening since Loki isn’t his second awakening? (For anyone that doesn’t know. Akechi is like Joker, he has the same power as joker in which he has more than one Persona to control, which would make Loki, a Persona that represents him and making Robin Hood representing his “Justice” fake personality.)
My understanding is that he has a similar power to Jokers but it isnt identical. Both Loki and Robin Hood are his own personas, but his ability means he can hold both of them rather than giving up the original (ie how Ann gives up Carmen to get Hecate). I believe I read that Robin Hood was his original persona while Loki is his awakened one. This is just conjecture, but I think while most of the characters had positive character growth to awaken to their 2nd personas, Akechi had negative due to Shidos influence. Robin Hood is his desire to be viewed as and act as a hero, but Loki is his absolute hatred for most of the world. Essentially Hereward can be taken as him reconciling his desire to be a hero with his misanthropy (ie: the world sucks, but im still willing to die for it if only for myself). If Akechi had had friends or trusted others, he may have been able to capture personas or hold more of them, but because he didn't, hes stuck with the ones he was able to make himself.
I love how every phantom thief is like:
"I betrayed you!!"
And Joker is just like:
"It's not the first time this has ever happened"
"I betrayed you"
"Well at least you didn't put a gun to my head."

am I seeing mad facts??? Let's go.
Fave 3rd Tier Personas:
1. Ren’s Raoul
2. Akechi’s Hereward
3. Sumire’s Ella
4. Morgana’s Diego
5. Ryuji’s William
6. Futaba’s Al Azif
7. Haru’s Lucy
8. Yusuke’s Gorokichi
9. Makoto’s Agnes
10. Ann’s Celestine
- Fave P5 Persona Evolution:
1. Ren’s
2. Akechi’s
3. Ryuji’s
4. Sumire’s
5. Morgana’s
6. Futaba’s
7. Yusuke’s
8. Haru’s
9. Makoto’s
10. Ann’s
But at least put hereward on the list
Except that no, the Third Tier Persona are direct ref of the 1st tier, Hereward is a throwback to his 1st Tier, Robin Hood while Loki isn't directly linked to him, like the other 2nd Tier Persona who are deity/mythological figures associated with Trickster/rebellious traits.
Alexia Samsonoff Yeah I guess...
TheFatihTrio ok
Haru Okumura That’s not true. I like/love Ann as Ren/Akira’s 1st female friend. To me she’s #4 Fave PhantomGirl AND #2 Fave Lovers Arcana.
Also I’m judging her Personas, not Ann. And Truthfully despite what I rank her Ultimate Personas AND Persona Evolution, doesn’t change the fact that her Personas are MY #1 Fave Personas of The Lovers Arcana❤️😊
With how all of them except Akechi were apologizing to Joker it makes me think of this tier as the apologetic tier
That "...You caught me" sounded so cute holy.
Me by the third awakening: yo can I just call everyone over to the hideout and get this done in one go. I’m wasting valuable 3rd semester time

Poor Ryuji. Being poor isn't a personality lol
@@Zaratrustme nah, but that poster on the back probably says something about his personality
I love how all their base persona’s are based on mythology or folk tale, so old fashion
And their second Personas are so different and modern so When they fuse it’s like the old meeting the new, like how Celestine is blowing bubble gum, or how William is riding on a Yacht. Its a return to their true selves but with a stronger will, and this helps boost the context with them apologizing for losing their way
I like the fact that Ryuji's turned back into a pirate, and Morganna's turned back into Zorro, and Makoto's turned back into a bike
Tidbit about Morgana and Ryujis 3rd tiers is the names are the actual names of the original personas, Diego = Zorro, William = Captain Kidd

Yusuke made the same mistake twice averting his eyes from the truth :(
The first awakening is a legendary figure
The second awakening is a deity
The third awakening is the true name or inspiration behind the first
I love Sumire Yoshizawa and am deeply hurt that I have not seen her in Strikers😭😭😭
I think that was due to the fact that, Strikers was both developed and released before Royal

I’m deeply hurt by her absence as well.
@@johnathanholmes1297you could not have said that better
Akechi’s third tier awakening is more of a fusion between personas since Robin Hood and Loki are separate personas.
First personas:rebellion.
Second personas:descend.
Third personas:the ascend and realizing of the true being.
Am I the only one who was slightly disappointed that the royal awakened personas didn’t carry over to Strikers? Or the second awakening personas for completing the social links?
What disappointed me was the exclusion of Sumire.
@@theosmith6275 perhaps, but that can easily be explained as she was busy all summer with gymnastics stuff, in another country. You best believe she was following her BF and their fellow Phantoms online though, when she could

Shame Strikers is on the Vanilla version and not have a Royal Strikers Version DLC/expansion pack
I mean, I don’t think Royal is part of the canon of P5, but I think Strikers was made canon as a sequel-like thing to vanilla.
I’m not positive on this though, I’ll have to double check that one.

Pour one out for Vanadis...even less screentime than Haru...
I think they made Raoul DLC as there’s no way it would be more powerful than Sataniel, which killed Yaldaboth.

@@ellenhunter5531 Ann learns Lullaby instead of Tentarafoo
@@vahe7422 Yes, but in the original game, she learned Tentarafoo. I'm at Shido's palace already, and I know their ailment skills. Morgana learns Pulinpa, Ann gets Dormina and Lullaby. Makoto gets Makajama and Flash Bomb which is a physical attack that can inflict dizzy. Haru initially learns Tentarafoo, which kept her on the team, since I find Brainwash and Confuse the most useful ailments, next to Dizzy!

Bruh.
Futaba got a Star Destroyer and Yusuke got Elvis.
Yusuke’s is like a rich person or something. With all the clothes
but he can't afford food
personas are manifestations of people's inner feelings/thoughts, which means canonically yusuke got mad drip, he just doesn't have the money for it
It bugs me that we don't find out the name of Yusuke's mother
The final fight in Third Semester (no, not the boss fight) brought a tear to the eye.
(Please correct me if I’m wrong)
But isn’t Akechi’s “3rd Awakening”, a 2nd awakening since Loki isn’t his second awakening?
One thing came to my mind seeing these...
Fu...
Sion...
HA!
Damn Yusuke's persona got that Colgate fade
I understand Maruki’s actions and I kinda of agree with him,the end that you agree with him is kinda good and relaxing
Joker’s probably getting really tired of everyone apologizing to him right about now.
I’d live in a fake universe to redeem Akechi
