24:07 in Beidou's hangout event, she says this was her hometown as a kid(around 5 or 6 years old was when she arrived)! it used to be a fishing village called Downriver because the people came from a place called Upriver(which is now completely gone). so it's only been abandoned relatively recently, but has been pretty much forgotten by most people
Yeah Love that video! I also would like a update on the map, i think i will write that in the next survey. Overall i love your changes i only would comment on a few things: 1. Windgliders, i believe it is statet that the anemo archon is regarded as a god not only for the mondstadt region, but for travelers and free spirits all over teyvat so the windgliders are not exclusive to mondstadt in my opinion 2. I think that treassure hoarders and eremites are supposed to be inconsistent, because they are not supposed to be part of society 3. All the aranara related stuff should be missing in my opinion, because they are related to idea of only be visible in a dreamlike state, the whole Aranara questline makes you question if their existence is real/a dream/spirits anything in between all this, so i would say for the normal society they should count as non existent
I was thinking about that single bell in Mondstadt, maybe it isnt supposed to be the ruins of a village, but was dropped there by Dvalin or a storm caused by dvalin, by that logic many stuff could be the remnants of storm dropping them all over Mondstadt, dame for floods in Fountain or storms/floods in Inazuma
you mandela'd yourself over the treasure holders in mondstadt because we do see treasure holders there, but only in various character and world quests also, thank you for your hardwork, the maps you made are going to be very useful as I try to figure out where all the missing people have villages and towns they live at (because obviously the population isn't just the few hundred npcs across the entire world)
Ok but they NEED to higher the zoom bc I have to scroll for 10 billion hours trying to get from Inazuma to Fontaine 😭 Edit: guys, I KNOW there is a shortcut button, this is for JOKE PURPOSES ONLY! Also a lot of newbies don’t really pay attention to that thing but I KNOW WHAT IT IS SO STOP COMMENTING IT Edit #2: Another thing I should've probably clarified is that I want to see the entire map in its glory, that fast travel thingy is still annoying to use, especially since teyvat has gotten so big, so please stop commenting about it!!!!!!!!!!
I think the "Disneyland geography" of Fontaine is way more justified because it's, y'know, and archipelago Archipelagos having unique and one-off details is a very common thing, so it definitely makes sense for world building and game design I think the reasons why it feels worse than in Inazuma are: -lack of civilizations, which make the different areas feel more like it's *for the player* than for the world -the fact that you can go into the water, making the rives and lakes not feel like an actual separation between the different islands and Instead just seem like normal land too, making it feel less like an archipelago and more like a big land with some *very* big puddles Basically that it feels like a land with water on top rather than water with land on top I would see this complaint being way more justified with Natlan, since it doesn't have as much of a justification with how it's just a normal landmass Buuuut you could justify it with world building/lore and how the Wayobs affect the surrounding land, but it's still a stretch Natlan really suffers with the Disney geography on areas like the People of the springs because it feels very out of place, but ultimately I understand it's for a game design reason It's meant to feel like a bunch of disconnected areas with different element themes. If they wanted to make it feel less like Disneyland geography they would have had to either tone down the differences between the zones (bad for game design and feel) or the nation would have needed to be like twice or thrice bigger (hell for the devs)
Fun fact: Vind is the Swedish word for Wind. Swedish and German share the same Germanic roots, and thus have a few similar words. They're also quite close in geographic terms. Mondstadt is more Germanic inspired leading into medieval Germany, but there are many similarities with Sweden in it.
4:08 Maybe people go to the Anemo Hypostasis to worship it since Mondstadt is the land of the Anemo Archon after all, whereas the inhabitants wouldn't really have an interest in the Electro Hypostasis.
23:18 strictly speaking, it doesn't say the RIDER has to be blessed, just the ITEM itself, and I'm not aware of any other lore to suggest that the users of gliders are limited (indeed, playable characters from all regions can use gliders just fine), so unless I've overlooked something you might have jumped the gun; the issue would be rather that the gliders are somehow scarce, based on the whole subtext of the sumeru scholars trying to reproduce them in the first place; you're right at least that there doesn't seem to be anything that really makes it clear what exactly this blessing IS though
Amazing job!!! This is one of those things that, you don't realize just how much you need it until someone makes it. Your updated map looks sooooo much better than the in-Game version I can't even... Also, you might already be aware, but the only location in Genshin where a boat actually moves naturally from place to place is in Chenyu Vale along the Bishui River, an NPC uses a bamboo pole to propel a Bamboo Raft to and from the lower docks of Yilong Wharf (you can also interact with an NPC at the docks to get a ride down the river as well). I was shocked the first time I saw it in-game while exploring along the river, but I've seen it happen a few times since... you can even fly / swim onto the boat and get a free ride along the river. Always wished they did this with the larger boats in the game, would add so much to the immersion, especially if they randomized the times when boats dock and depart. Anywho, amazing job, this was genuinely fun to watch and it's a shame Hoyo doesn't put more effort into their own map. : /
Hello??! Thank you so much cobalt glad you enjoyed the video, I truly appreciate the kind words! And yes of course, I love taking the rafts along chenyu vale, that makes it all the more sad when it's the only place in all of Teyvat to do that though. I would love if you could see say, ships off in the distance from port ormos or liyue harbour moving about. One can dream.😔❤️
@Beerevity Thanks for the reply and yes, you did an amazing job on this! 😊 your attention to detail covering such a large open world map is also very amazing. And yeah, ships actually doing things, trade caravans on roads between towns, NPC's having more freedom to do things in towns... there's a lot of immersion elements I wish the game had. Even more daily quests that help you permanently fix or clean up areas of the world would be cool. Regardless, keep up the amazing work!!! 😊
Absolutely brilliant video. Really wish the devs valued functionality on the map and worldbuilding just a tiny bit more so we didn't get the messy "road" that leads to beyda harbor.
For an open world rpg, it isn’t really gonna be fun for the player as everything is just straight up shoved in their face? But I get where you’re coming from. Can’t wait to watch!
For other open world games, the map is revealed by exploration. I feel like it could be more detailed, with each waypoint revealing the area instead of one Statue lighting up an entire region
Yep, can confirm as someone who has adhd and orients themselves accordingly to the map for new areas. Being able to get lost even if I see the map is part of my favourite thing about exploring the map. And for the map to not be perfect makes sense for the time Teyvat is in, compared to modern times we have irl😅
@@Elliarts54 ahaha I understand. I don’t have adhd but looking for underground Bosses, areas etc. really freaks me out TvT And that is part of the fun,of course.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants the map and world to make sense, it really feels super fragmented even though Liyue and Mondstadt have been around for 4 years or so now!
Looking at the map always gives me an empty feeling, seeing the black voids not being expanded. Like parts of it could have more expectations and yet they're lacking
We do get an NPC using a glider once. One we help a treasure hoarder out of a deep pit in Liyue for a (world?) quest, the text says something along the lines of "we both fly up on our gliders."
I love these kind of contents of exploring realism in games whether they are sci-fi, fantasy or not, as they help me in learning on how write a story, a good map that makes sense is essential when making your own world after all
The abandoned village with a lot of small docks, west of Wangshu Inn, iirc was where Beidou used to live. Beidou is still fairly young, so I’m imagining the reason the settlements are less worn down is because it was abandoned not too long ago. Also, I think it was near the vicinity of Wangshu Inn that there was a small village where Shuyu’s grandmother, Yuandai gave birth to Shuyu’s parent (I can’t remember which one), so idk if the village was the very same or a different one, but it’s food for thought.
I'd like to put forth the theory that the lack of ruins where there should be some might be because the Hillichurls have repurposed the material for their own settlements. Or maybe the higher ups in Mihoyo just wanted more time spent on Liyue for 1.0
I cannot express how much I appreciate you doing all this. This had bothered me so much for so long. Especially the missing ruins spots as someone who enjoys lore so much. Thank you for sharing the maps 💕
4 years of playing and i have only unlocked the tutorial map (4-5 statues only), had to come back to unlock the whole remaining map and I have to admire, genshin’s map is really beautiful, special, huge and full of great stuff despite the routes design
I think the reason why you remembered Treasure Hunters in Mondstadt is because of Amber's story quest involving a group of Treasure Hunters. Since it's likely the first time we encounter Treasure Hunters, we associate them with Monstadt despite being completely absent of it (except for Dragon Spine which came later).
THANK YOU!!!! I am literally always griping about the map in this game. The bayda harbor road makes me want to cry so badly. This must have taken ages, and it looks beautiful.
No download link of the updated map? I'm going to give this cartographer a Mondstad / 10 (jk It was an awesome video) EDIT: Well F me she actually did it XD I´ll update my review of this cartographer to a Natlan / 11
At some point, there will be an event quest line, where the Liyue Ministry of Infastrucure or w/e joins forces with the Knights of Favonius, to build better roads for future cooperation between the two neighbouring nations. And we all know, whom we will have to thank for that.
This is so absolutely stunning and something I had no idea I needed in game until now. NOW, however, it is a NEED. The map looks so much more lively and beautiful being filled in and love how you showed just how much the map can change and how many small details can make such a difference. Id love to see a later patch really focusing on changing the map and regions to smoothing out or explaining the small changes!😊
Your content is always so fun to watch I had suspicions about the genshin map being weird as I was playing cuz I would notice paths ending on the mini map while still continuing in the world and things like that. But actually seeing your videos explaining all the little details is so entertaining and gives a lot of insight to the world of teyvat! Thank you for your hard work and wonderful more accurate map
I think it makes sense for mondstadt's map to be a bit more bare compared to newer areas and for good reasons 1) the genshin team had just started out so keeping things simple might have been the best choice for them at the time 2) i think it makes it easier for players to navigate the main roads and not get overwhelmed, one needs to consider not many are familiar with openworld games, perhaps it's more straightforward and allows players to reach, for example, liyue a bit more easily, tho even with few roads on the map *a lot* of Players go to liyue through dragonspine and suffer the consequences of their own actions (not noticing the path to stone gate which is definitely more friendly than dragonspine, esp for beginners😭 im guilty of that too)
@@milesperhour9256 horses are implied to exist with monsdtat cavalry captain existing and in the genshin prequel comic theres a carriage which looks like it was horse drawn but i dont remember registering a horse
the amount of work this must’ve taken!!😭this is some real dedication. I’m surprised you didn’t go over enka, hoyo cut out the entire vishap research lab out of the map, but it’s still in the game. Its always made me so mad
Ngl those road corrections are so helpful, like I was walking a r20 player around LiYue the other day and we spent like 30 minutes trying to find the Oceanid, and ended up climbing over a mountain anyway. And I still don't know how to get there safely, so those roads you did would make so much sense and be so helpful🙏🙏🙏
the only reason i know there are no treasure hoarders in Mond except the few in dragonspine is specifically from needing to farm them. when i realized and it hit me.... loved this video. i'm glad there are other people who think of this sort of stuff in video games. it's so satisfying to watch but also know we are not alone lol
TY so much for publishing the edited maps, those will be great for reference when I'm writing fic! A few notes for you below that might give some context for a few of the locations you mentioned here: 12:14 Hu Tao's story quest features some middle-aged NPCs that used to live in Wuwang Hill when they were young, so it's probably not been abandoned for much more than 20-30 years. 24:05 Per her hangout, Beidou partially grew up in this fishing village, so it's probably also not been abandoned for more then 20-30 years! At some point I'd love to to look through various in-game sources and see if there's *any* sort of consistency in travel times mentioned, but they're mentioned so infrequently that I'm pressing X to doubt. Plus there are lots of variables like the exact terrain being crossed, what kind of transport is being taken if any, whether you need to switch between water and land travel, whether the person is traveling solo or as a group, and their level of experience with the terrain. I'm not sure if much useful info could be gleaned from mentions like that.
The player base filling in the map's lacking details (especially the underground areas before Genshin included them in-game) really just gives so much Adventurer's Guild energy. Like you people are literally doing things adventurers do!
Torture is subjective. The editing on the other hand... is objectivly GODLIKE !!! Can we get some editor appreciation !? (on top of appreciating the silly idea, the writing and the huge amount of effort)
I really hope when the main story of the game ends, we can have smaller quests of restoring villages, rebuilding stuff and the devs repair the overworld design mistakes
1 person: Fixes the entire map in a few days One of the largest companies in the world: Never fixes the map Also: Underground chasm, Enkanomia, Sea of Bygone Eras, and missing underground maps This should be your next video
I think the only one that needed to be included was part of the Underground Chasm since NPCs go mine and/or explore so it could've been mapped by someone While Enkanomiya and Sea of Bygone Eras have no need to be remapped for the same reason as Tsurumi Island (inaccessible until the Traveler arrived)
Oh algorithm, thank you for blessing me with a video which meets my love of genshin and my love of video game cartography. 😍 Thank you for of the hard work on this video as well! 🥰
You remind me of a geometry dash youtuber called colon but for genshin impact, your content is really good and entertaining, and refreshing since most of genshins content is just artifact farming, maybe the story, building characters, fixing accounts etc. So thank you for your videos
27:50 I think the thing that bothers me most about the world layout is that there's so much more that's implied to exist than what we actually get in-game. Obviously, there are good reasons for this, but I'd like to know where all the people in Liyue went if it seems like literally every village everywhere is abandoned. I remember being stunned at Sumeru when I found more than two places where people were actually living. We got four! Just within the rain forest! Plus Aaru Village! And then we dropped back down to two for Fontaine again. When you factor in all the other things that lore suggests should be there, and it makes me wonder what a "real, full-scale" version of Teyvat would be like.

24:07 in Beidou's hangout event, she says this was her hometown as a kid(around 5 or 6 years old was when she arrived)! it used to be a fishing village called Downriver because the people came from a place called Upriver(which is now completely gone). so it's only been abandoned relatively recently, but has been pretty much forgotten by most people
I think it's not the exact village that appeared on the timestamp you commented, it was another one I think?
I love how expressive and emotive you are with Lumine and your other meme edits
Yeah Love that video! I also would like a update on the map, i think i will write that in the next survey. Overall i love your changes i only would comment on a few things:
1. Windgliders, i believe it is statet that the anemo archon is regarded as a god not only for the mondstadt region, but for travelers and free spirits all over teyvat so the windgliders are not exclusive to mondstadt in my opinion
2. I think that treassure hoarders and eremites are supposed to be inconsistent, because they are not supposed to be part of society
9:55 it's probably because there are some treasure hoarders in one or two of the Mondstadt leylines
IIRC there's also Treasure Hoarders in some quests
Isn't there the ONE treasure hoarder in wolvendom that you can talk to on the little beach?
you mandela'd yourself over the treasure holders in mondstadt because we do see treasure holders there, but only in various character and world quests
also, thank you for your hardwork, the maps you made are going to be very useful as I try to figure out where all the missing people have villages and towns they live at (because obviously the population isn't just the few hundred npcs across the entire world)
And also leylines
Mika on death watch, life's work flexed on by resinless queen.
Imagine she examines the outfit in every region. Couldn't be.
You don't understand how happy the world builder in me gets whenever you post a video, these topics are actually super useful to me
Ok but they NEED to higher the zoom bc I have to scroll for 10 billion hours trying to get from Inazuma to Fontaine 😭
Edit: guys, I KNOW there is a shortcut button, this is for JOKE PURPOSES ONLY! Also a lot of newbies don’t really pay attention to that thing but I KNOW WHAT IT IS SO STOP COMMENTING IT
Edit #2: Another thing I should've probably clarified is that I want to see the entire map in its glory, that fast travel thingy is still annoying to use, especially since teyvat has gotten so big, so please stop commenting about it!!!!!!!!!!
Hey you can click the name of the region in the lower right corner of the map and see what happens
Press at the compass icon on the bottom right and select region. That's what I usually do. Whatever floats your boat ig.
@@D1ngD0ngSo3kthe more you know
@@Jemas-kacanghijau , ik! This was for joke purposes lol, also most people don’t know that, but thanks for clarifying :D
@@D1ngD0ngSo3k Honestly it’s pretty effective but most of the time I forget that exists, I only use it for like hidden regions
I think the "Disneyland geography" of Fontaine is way more justified because it's, y'know, and archipelago
Archipelagos having unique and one-off details is a very common thing, so it definitely makes sense for world building and game design
I think the reasons why it feels worse than in Inazuma are:
-lack of civilizations, which make the different areas feel more like it's *for the player* than for the world
-the fact that you can go into the water, making the rives and lakes not feel like an actual separation between the different islands and Instead just seem like normal land too, making it feel less like an archipelago and more like a big land with some *very* big puddles
Basically that it feels like a land with water on top rather than water with land on top
I would see this complaint being way more justified with Natlan, since it doesn't have as much of a justification with how it's just a normal landmass
Buuuut you could justify it with world building/lore and how the Wayobs affect the surrounding land, but it's still a stretch
Natlan really suffers with the Disney geography on areas like the People of the springs because it feels very out of place, but ultimately I understand it's for a game design reason
It's meant to feel like a bunch of disconnected areas with different element themes.
Shrines of depths are at least outlined in Fontaine but not in other places like Monstadt.
I think only in Sumeru
@@Beerevityjust a question (i wont join u) what server are u on? like asia, america etc.
@@milesperhour9256 Yes,I agree. Though,I don’t think there are enough waypoints to cover the whole of each region equally.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants the map and world to make sense, it really feels super fragmented even though Liyue and Mondstadt have been around for 4 years or so now!
Random churls in random places are actually quite important as a source for energy particles when testing damage on open-world bosses

hoyo when?
Looking at the map always gives me an empty feeling, seeing the black voids not being expanded. Like parts of it could have more expectations and yet they're lacking
10:16 the reason it was never added to the map is because alice never discovered it and not many npc know the island exists
Or maybe the higher ups in Mihoyo just wanted more time spent on Liyue for 1.0
This took so much effort, good grief. Very nicely done!
One month no Bee then a 45 min vid? I mean I ain’t complaining
This is a lot of thought and effort put into fixing the maps for Genshin. Hoyoverse really should hire Beerevity to fix their in-game maps!
Omg 45 minute Beerevity video, I'm gonna save this one
Guys wake up Beerevity posted
I wish they hired you and this is yours main purpose, I want your version of the map
"have you ever wondered..." No, we most likely haven't
No download link of the updated map?
I'm going to give this cartographer a Mondstad / 10
(jk It was an awesome video)
EDIT: Well F me she actually did it XD I´ll update my review of this cartographer to a Natlan / 11
The Liyue abandoned river village based on hangout quest is where either Ningguang or Beidou (not sure which one but leaning towards Beidou) grew up
Your content is always so fun to watch I had suspicions about the genshin map being weird as I was playing cuz I would notice paths ending on the mini map while still continuing in the world and things like that. But actually seeing your videos explaining all the little details is so entertaining and gives a lot of insight to the world of teyvat! Thank you for your hard work and wonderful more accurate map
I think the anemo hypostasis may have a path because sucrose studies it
I think it makes sense for mondstadt's map to be a bit more bare compared to newer areas and for good reasons 1) the genshin team had just started out so keeping things simple might have been the best choice for them at the time 2) i think it makes it easier for players to navigate the main roads and not get overwhelmed, one needs to consider not many are familiar with openworld games, perhaps it's more straightforward and allows players to reach, for example, liyue a bit more easily, tho even with few roads on the map *a lot* of Players go to liyue through dragonspine and suffer the consequences of their own actions (not noticing the path to stone gate which is definitely more friendly than dragonspine, esp for beginners😭 im guilty of that too)
Been looking for genshin stuff for a while and encountered this video. I fell in love with your voice and content. Instant sub.
oh my god, thank you for making this video! the map inaccuracies, especially in Stormterror's lair, have been making me crazy for years 😭

The abadoned village near the inn in Liyue is a village where Beidou lived as a kid
This video has a lot of time and effort put into it, I think it deserves a lot more attention
bru this must have taken so much effort holy dayum
я ничего не понимаю но работа по вставке мемов проведена просто ГИГАНТСКАЯ и мне это ОЧЕНЬ нравится 🙏🙏🙏🙏
If I remember correctly, treasure hoarder on Mondstadt only "spawned" on certain daily quest, not naturally
and leylines I believe
And Barbara's hangout and "That guy"´s quest (with the Mondstadt girl that joined them undercover) and during the TCG festival with the stolen cards.
Let's not forget the one in the beginning in kaeyas quest. Though he's only in cutscenes so I guess he doesn't count
I need this map asap in genshin. NOW EVERY TIME I OPEN THE MAP I'M GOING TO BE SO UPSET DANGIT BEEREVITY!!!
A few notes for you below that might give some context for a few of the locations you mentioned here:
12:14 Hu Tao's story quest features some middle-aged NPCs that used to live in Wuwang Hill when they were young, so it's probably not been abandoned for much more than 20-30 years.
I love videos like this, things that seem like something someone in teyvat would post and I need more, pls do more 😭💕
This is literally what i have been thinking for YEARS. You spilled facts. The old map needs to be polished.
what lumine does in her free time after realizing she has to wait another couple years to see her brother:
your videos are so much fun and I love your edits and memes they're so funny
I wish your map was in the game now! Love the video, the map, the humor, and of course the amazing editing.
The player base filling in the map's lacking details (especially the underground areas before Genshin included them in-game) really just gives so much Adventurer's Guild energy. Like you people are literally doing things adventurers do!
Natlan NPC can't turn into saurians, only the Traveler can do it
Please never stop what you are doing, I love your videos so so much!!!
NAH not the “Erm what the sigma ☝️🤓” at the start 😭🙏
Torture is subjective.
The editing on the other hand... is objectivly GODLIKE !!!
Can we get some editor appreciation !? (on top of appreciating the silly idea, the writing and the huge amount of effort)
Fun fact: You can see Sumeru city from Fontaine! That’s how big it is!
Wow, amazing video. I love maps and geographyin general, and would love hoyoverse to implement your maps in the game 😁 loved evry bit of the video 😊
I really hope when the main story of the game ends, we can have smaller quests of restoring villages, rebuilding stuff and the devs repair the overworld design mistakes
1 person: Fixes the entire map in a few days
One of the largest companies in the world: Never fixes the map
Also:
Underground chasm, Enkanomia, Sea of Bygone Eras, and missing underground maps
This should be your next video
I think the only one that needed to be included was part of the Underground Chasm since NPCs go mine and/or explore so it could've been mapped by someone
While Enkanomiya and Sea of Bygone Eras have no need to be remapped for the same reason as Tsurumi Island (inaccessible until the Traveler arrived)
I really enjoyed your videos. Your voice is actually quite relaxing to me for some reason. Keep up the great work.
So thank you for your videos
i love these capybara, thanks for showing them
I love your additions. Consistency is key.
