Lets goooo!! I used the Pheonix for yeearrrs. I even had the limited edition white version. Super excited we have the next gen power from you guys now too. Thanks for always crushing the game! I'm excited to get my hands on one of these. 🔥🔥
Thank you. I use your Phoenix power supplies. I am so overjoyed to learn of the Canvas Power Supplies. No joke, it's kind of a relief. I was worried about where my next power suppy was going to come from. Now I know. Thank you, again.
Sorry if my English doesn't make sense. I was just wondering about power supplies. Currently, I'm using 13 power outlets and I think I'm running out of power. I'm considering the 15-outlet version of this product, so I'd like to know the total power available and the capacity per outlet if all 15 are used!
I came here looking for this. Well done Walrus Audio. The fact that they made it compatible with systems other people might already have is so thoughtful and the main reason why I’ll choose them for expansion over buying another Ojai
so awesome guys! is there any instance that if you filled all the outlets of the power supply that it would overload the brick? hence the indicators showing power that's left?
Hey walrus could you help me understand why my (shall remain nameless) power supply make so much noise when it’s close to my HX stomp? I know other companies have fixed this problem (like Strymon, and I am assuming you guys!! ) looking to pick up a 15 very soon! Can I use a 2.1 dual port connector to 2.5 without any problems with this as well?? Thanks!!!
The hum you're talking about happens with some pedals when they are sitting directly on top of a power supplie's transformer. That's no fault of the brand of either the power supply or the pedal, it's just a byproduct of putting electronic devices next to each other sometimes. You could move the pedal or where the power supply is mounted to see if that helps. But you're right, with having a separate power brick, you should not have this issue anymore! Yes a 2.1 to 2.5 adapter should work!
So to be clear, the barrel cables have the same type of 2.1mm connector on both sides? So they could be plugged in forwards or "backwards" potentially and work the same? And they all come in the straight to right angle variety, correct?
I just ordered a Canvas 15 for my first Pedaltrain Classic 1. I'm thankful for the timing because I purchased some antiquated power supplies and realized that I had to return them. 🎛️🎸⚡🎶🔊☠️
Can you daisy chain pedals into a single outlet? With the cioks, you can daisy chain a few pedals, assuming you don’t exceed the total mA per outlet. So the cioks 7 could theoretically power 21, or more, pedals. I’ve read through the information on the Walrus site, and Sweetwater, and don’t see this mentioned anywhere.
Yes, but keep in mind that any pedals you daisy chain are no longer receiving isolated power and you may introduce noise. That goes for any power supply you do that with!
For sure, the thing that makes these power supplies great is that each output is 500 ma, which can be used to power the big digital fellas. Most power supplies have only one or two hot enough for that and the rest are rated lower.
I was thinking the same thing. There doesn't seem to be any mention about how to mount the power brick under a board (like a Classic 2, for instance), and all the pictures I've seen show brackets for the power supply, but not for the brick, itself. I'd prefer not to have to use Hook and Loop for that, but brackets designed specifically for the power brick - if they exist. Aside from that (having to use a separate power brick), I think this is nearly perfect design and I'd like to try one out the Canvas 15 in the near future.
The adapter mentioned should work. The Stomp says that it requires 3A, but in our tests it runs fine at 1A so you could use the 2.1 to 2.5 current doubler adapter. Or hang tight till this summer... 😉
Watched the whole video waiting for a reason that this better than or at least competes with the CIOKS options. Sad to see that there isn’t any reason - it’s marginally less functional and also more expensive.
I think these are better for my needs. I just looked into the dc 10 and compared it to the canvas 8. The dc 10 has power ratings of 100 ma each for 1-4, 200 ma each for 5-6, and 400 for the rest, meaning you can only use two big boy digital pedals before you start pushing it beyond its recommended specs. The reason why people are stoked on these is the 500 ma for every single output, that what makes these slap so hard. Also the form factor of these are better especially the toggles for the different DC voltages. The DC from CIOKS just has the 9 v and 12 v right next to eachother, which could lead to mistaken voltage pairings more frequently IMO. Also it gives the illusion of a 10 output power supply, but the outputs 7-8 and 9-10 each share a max load of 400 ma so it's really an 8 output power supply for all intents and purposes.
@@onionheadguy7094 this is all fair commentary - but the DC8 is the old transformer based solution from Cioks which was released all the way back in 2011. So it’s fair to say that this could be considered better than that. The Cioks DC7 offers far more flexibility and output options at a lower price. It’s their latest release with non transoidial power conversion and really the only fair comparison to draw. Each output on the DC7 is 660mA so that blasts the 500mA of this walrus. Especially when it comes to things like microcosm and other big box juice sucking pedals. The ONLY advantage this gives you is that is doesn’t come with Cioks unique cabling which I personally find a bit annoying.
FWIW the Microcosm only requires 400mA. Our barrel cables also aren't proprietary. They are custom low profile so they fit in tighter spaces, but should you lose one, you can swap in 2.1mm easily from any other company. 🙂
It's shame about the power brick. Even still, this is a great form factor - especially the larger 22. I would have definitely ordered one but just got a Mono supply which is the same design.
@@tylerd1143 Yes, it would have been perfect without it. I didn't think about how large the power brick would be when ordering. What I mean is that I would have held out for the Walrus model if I knew it was coming even though they are the same design. If only someone could build this form factor with an internal power adapter.
Wait....so you dont need to drill a million holes in your board to mount these power supplies? I can just screw and tighten it at the bottom? If thats the case, then my future used pedalboarda will actually have a good resale value.
The power 5 mounts to smaller boards with C brackets that require zero drilling. The larger sizes have L Brackets that require 4 screws. You can see how they mount here - th-cam.com/video/UH4V5TbXiZQ/w-d-xo.html
Now tempted to buy 3 Power 22s just so I can power 66 pedals🔥

Walrus literally makes the best pedals, truly the best hardware work for guitarists.

I have no need for the power 22, but my God what a feat! I want it just to say I have it!😂

Will 1000% own one of these someday. Or multiple. Love the link feature

Definitely gonna miss the 120VAC out from the Phoenix. Are you building any PSU's with that still? It's so nice to plug my amp into the Phoenix
That was a great feature! But you can snag something like this for less than $10 and still get the same results! a.co/d/bKbamwa

This is important to me too 🤔

Quick question here. Is it possible to connect to Ojai of Strymon by 24V thru cable? If so I'd love to buy them.

Are C brackets sold separately?
