The trick to helping 3M dual lock or Velcro stick to the surface. The higher rated type to mention is best. My truck is Heating them up slightly with a heat gun so the adhesive gets real sticky. Then press firmly to get max adhesion.
Ive had good results with using a dark stain on my wooden boards after sanding then using a clear gloss coat to seal it and use that coat for dual lock to stick too. It works really well.
I don’t think you needed a professional builder this was done great and it’s definitely a board I would use for myself I love it. I think maybe eventually get a board that allows you to Put those power supply’s underneath if that matters to you.
Thanks! I’m really happy with how it turned out. I haven’t had a board with power supplies under in a very long time but I can see how it’s neater and possibly easier to troubleshoot.
when I saw the pictures of the power jack on the same side as the pedal power jacks, I had the exact same reaction. I think it's a mistake on Walrus' part. The same for the USB-C port. Like how am I supposed to access that?
With the port you could do like I’ve done on my Mastermind controller usb port - I’ve got a little right angle extension that says plugged in. That’s being said, I’m not sure I see my self using it.
A lot of different ones… but mostly Square plugs (SP400) and Mogami cables for the pedal board. Mainly larger Mogami and Switchcraft plugs for main cables. I just used what had laying around on this build for cables
Why would I want to pay $250 for this? Isolated power is getting cheaper. The Harley Benton PowerPlant ISO-10AC Pro is $98 and works great. Idk, good luck Walrus, I guess lol
Yeah, the Walrus does have other features that some people will want to spend the extra cash for. If you don’t need those there are definitely cheaper options out there.
yeah, to be fair, the smaller ones are a bit more on the pricier side. but the larger ones are priced fairly well i guess! no other power supply can run 22 individual 500mA outputs at that price range afaik! i ordered mine. need to power all these things on my new board: Gigrig G3 Kenton MIDI Thru JHS Switchback Mission Engineering SP25L Pro Analogman Sunface Dunlop CB-535Q Walrus Audio DEFCON 4 Vemuram Jan Ray TC Sub n Up TC Mojo Mojo Snake Oil Fine Instruments Marvelous Engine EHX rams head big muff Analogman KOT (TC SCF) GFI Specular Tempus TC Electronic Flashback X4 ii GFI Specular Tempus
@@jimi272Cool setup, but you only need a fraction of that power. You can daisy chain non digital pedals if you need the output jacks. I guess its cool that it outputs that much, but even Strymons only use 300 ma. I dont know of any 500 ma single pedals.
@@masterofreality230 I only need a fraction of that power, yes. BUT: This board will be used in tour. And my experience shows, daisy chaining even multiple analog pedals can be a „risk“. Few weeks ago, In my local venue we had an act whom‘s guitar amp (fender Blues Deluxe) would noise out like crazy. They could only get rid of it by turning off the light in the bathroom downstairs😂. (Even though these lights weren’t on the same circuit breaker than stage power) This is why when building a board to tour, that serves as a tool for you to earn money, you want to eliminate all possible sources of problems… hence every single pedal individually isolated is a must. If one goes bad, the others still work, which isn’t guaranteed when you daisy chain for example all drive pedals…
Thanks for pointing out the wall wart situation. I am working with a flat board. I am editing this comment to add that Walrus says one may mount the DC brick directly on top of the Canvas without any noise or heat issues
Initially I was super turned off by it, but now that I have it mounted it and secure - it’s not that different than other supplies. I plug this board in just like any other board with an IEC. In the bigger picture it adds to the flexibility. It’s all give and take I guess…
I didn’t talk a lot about what’s on the pedalboard so you guys drop any questions here!
I would love to see you run through the pedals to show what you have. There were some I didn't recognise. Sounded awesome though.
Hey man, thanks for continuing to post this kind of practical content. I always learn something useful.
Awesome, glad to hear it!
Thanks for taking the time to make & share this- I always appreciate your insights on gear 👍
Thank you!
I screwed some wood risers to my board and now I am kicking myself because that removable aluminum channel idea was brilliant... Great stuff
Man,the Tip on the Aluminum square tube for riser is spot on,Thank You,and i can move it anytime. This is good bro, Thanx again,
Awesome! Glad it’s helpful
So many cool hacks! Thanks for sharing.
Michael be like: "I'm not a professional pedalboard builder"
Narrator: "BUT HE WAS A GUITAR TECH ON TOUR WITH MAJOR ARTISTS" LOL
😂

Man all the tones are killing!! 🙌 Could you post a list of effects used on the board?
Love the insert box idea on top 🤙
Very handy for demoing stuff!

Yeah, that sounds like it would work great!
Is there is same channel for drummers?) 💯🔥

really nice board ! by any chance you would share any reverb presets of your h9 ?
For a cheap but cool pedal riser. You can go to an arts and crafts store like Michael's and get those wooden light switch fixtures.
Awesome 👏
Unrelated to this video, but I’m wondering if you run into clipping issues on the tonex pedals? Any suggestions?
I haven’t. Do you mean clipping on the input?
@@MichaelWWestbrook yup! What do you run your input level at?
BTW: great job on the Crowder tour! Seen you at the winter jam in Kansas.
Thanks! I’m not sure honestly, been a while since I set it all up.
I might have just missed this, but what 1/4" instrument cables and patch cables do you use? Thanks!

What dip switches do you use for king of tone? Boost and overdrive?
Whatever the stock settings are!
Left side boost and right overdrive)
🔥🔥🔥🔥
These look nice but I see zero reason to switch from my Cioks power supplies that are dead silent, slim, and even more versatile.
Yeah, power supplies aren’t fun to spend money on… if it works, no reason to change!
❤❤❤
Dual lock is overkill for most boards, especially if it's a studio board like this one
I think using 250/400 is definitively over kill for a lot of people but IMO generally Dual lock is better than Velcro in every way.
@@MichaelWWestbrook agreed!

All outputs can be 500mA on the walrus, you can link other power supplies, USB, lower profile. They are two different things
