  • The SC32, SC18, and SC31 Pro are the smallest 18650 flashlights that are offered by Sofirn. Interestingly, they have significant differences that you need to be aware of before buying. Check out my video to find out what these are!

    Thank you, loved your review on exactly these 3 items so thorough straight to the point info just as i was looking for to help me on my decisions especially where im from (Philippines lots of power outages and hit from typhoon regularly) not all sofirn models are available and this review definitely helps me to decide from what is available to me.

    Hey Darren, good comparison video, I will eventually end up buying the SC32 as its my favourite out of the 3.
    Anyways, hope everything is going well for you & take care = )

      Hey Bruce, it's the only one with a tail switch! Unless you get the SC31T. Yep all good, just waiting for some more lights to arrive in the mail and will do some beamshots. Cheers :D

    Thanks for the vid! Getting the SC32 delivered today! I like the dual clip and the smaller size for my work bag. My emitter is the cool white 6500K so I'm hoping to get a bit more throw in medium. 🔦 🔦🔦 🔦 🔦 🔦🔦 🔦

      Glad I could help! The SC32 is the one I'd be most comfortable carrying in my pocket due to the tailswitch. Then the SC31 pro.

    The SC31T Pro! That's my next flashlight along with the new Nitecore NU50, unreal run times in low med and high!

      Yeah, I would prefer the SC31T as it just adds extra functionality! Nitecore do some great tactical lights, I only have the P23i but it's extremely bright, throws far and pocketable... So all in one package

    Which sofirn flashlight should you choose for short night walks? Price max $20-25. So that the light beam is relatively wide. I was thinking about sc18, but in this flashlight the light beam is distant and narrow. Is there anything cheaper than the sc31 pro with the same light beam as the sc31 pro(t)?

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got the SC29 recently and it has the perfect floody beam for up close. But still decent throw (200m). Try that one.

    Hi Darren, thanks for your review(s). Enjoy watching them. Now I actually went with the SC32 HCRI (5000K Nichia, CRI 90). I always want to go as warm as available ;-) and high CRI is important for me. Hence I did not opt for the regular SC32s.
    By now I got no less than 4 of the SC32 HCRI for my family. It has less throw, less lumens, indeed ramps down quicker perhaps (not tested on the HCRI version, would you happen to know if it behaves the same as the regular SC32 in that respect ?), but for that it lasts a bit longer on the 18650 than the SST-40 versions. Last but not least: everyone's mileage will vary here, but I think Sofirn has the superior style and design with the SC32 (HCRI) over the other lights and I hate to see them phase out the SC32 like they already phased out the HCRI version of it. There was not enough demand for it, they told me. I don't get that.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're welcome :) I think you'd like the SFT40 95CRI in 3000K. They're difficult to find but Convoy sell them in a few hosts. I don't know much about the HCRI SC32 unfortunately, but it sounds like a once off for them as all the other Sofirn lights I have are all low CRI, prioritising max brightness!

    • @sophietarafiona
      @sophietarafiona 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DarrenYeoYTThank you for suggesting that 3000K LED emitter, I had never heard of it and will try to look it up. That's one. ;-) Secondly, I am new to the flashlight hobby, but have bought in a short time (starting mid last year) quite a few Sofirn products after discovering them. The SC32 was made as 5000 & 6500K SST-40 version *and* as the SC32 HCRI version featuring the Nichia 519a LED of 5000K and 90 CRI. However, they also had the SP36 "BLF" flashlights with Samsung LH351d in 2700K, 4000K and 5000K versions ,each sporting 95 CRI. Needless to say I love the 2700K, then the 4000K and finally the 5000K in that particular order. Yes, the 2700K is like having your cosy livingroom cornerlight in your hands. ;-) Again, from conversations with Sofirn's customer service (very nice and helpful people by the way) they found that the general interest of their clientele (is that the right word ?!) is in the 5000K to 6500K range that trow further and have more lumens and not so much in the very warm tints of light that have to sacrifice a bit of those lumesn and throw reach. Regrettably. Never the less they still sell the IF25A with SST-20 in 4000K (but maybe 70 CRI) and the following lanterns: BLF LT1 Anduril 2.0, new LT1S Pro Camping & older Sofirn LT1s with a combination of Samsung LH351D 2700 & 5000K emitters, Nichia 219a 2700K & 5000K emitters and Luminus SST-20 660Nm for deep red light. And it can be mixed ! Finally some headlamps also feature the Samsung LH351D in 5000K and 2700K versions. SO there is a choice right nw, but for how long I do not know. I would love to find 1600-2500K, 2800K, 3000K, 3200K to 4200K versions of LED's with CRIs from 70 to 95, but the majority of customers seek out the pure white to cold white further throwing LEDs that I find "not cosy enough". ;-) By the way, I have as a one off because it was quite expensive, purchased the Acebeam Terminator M1 with 5000K Nichia 519a CRI 90 leds for flood and zoomable LEP for throw and while it is not perfect, it got me thinking why bother with extreme throwers with LEDs when a LEP can do that much better ? But still, I'm more into warm, cosy, flood than searchlights, so I will enthusiastically hunt down that SFT40 3000K that you suggested. Thanks again. By the way, I'm Dutch (EU) but a ghost, so hence my online presence when you presumably just got up. A suggestion for you: Mathmos lavalamp Astro "red metallic" (also in Australia). Nice, my kids love them. Take care !

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paulo, that SST40 is notorious for having a green tint. It also depends on the bin of the LED and now hard the LED is run. Brighter = less green.

    por que si tienen el mismo led, tienen diferente potencia ?

    • @DarrenYeoYT

      Because they have different drivers and programming. Some allow more current through the LED, some less.
