- ✧ I get so many questions about my fitness/weight loss journey & how to start running so I thought I'd give you guys a brief rundown of the whole story. I hope this was informative & useful; if you guys want to know more please let me know! ✧
I am a hearing and sighted person, but I appreciate your captions.
I am a hearing and sighted autistic person and the captions help me actually absorb the information 😊
I started running two months ago, and girl, your videos and IG posts have inspired me! I went from struggling to get to 5 minutes on a treadmill to now running outside for ten miles a week. I did not think I could run longer, but I could. I feel so good and free while running. I've been running in my New Balance Fresh Foam 880v12, which I love! I plan on signing up for a 5k run in my city to work up to a marathon someday. Running is a mental challenge because I believe we all can run long distances. When that tiny voice tells me to stop in the first five minutes, I tell myself to keep on going, and it's helped tremendously. And thank you for your service!!! I come from a military family, and one of my brothers is on active duty. I am in the process of joining, so running and incorporating hybrid training styles is helping me get in shape. Keep posting more videos because they are beneficial!!
Wow that’s so amazing!! 10 miles is such an accomplishment you should be proud 🥹🫶🏽
Thank you! ☺️ I believe we all have that inner athlete in us! Your videos are extremely helpful!!
A bit late, but highly recommend looking for your local parkrun. It’s a free weekly 5k run by volunteers. It starts at 9am every Saturday and you can walk or run. If you go to the website you can find your nearest one. You sign up and they scan your barcode at the end for your time which will be sent to you by email or the app, but it’s not an official race. You’ve got this!
@@iChanpagnei appreciate the info.. I'm sixty something and the thought is intimidating but Park Run sounds doable🙏🏽
@medline5140 I used to be a runner, but after injuries and gaining 40lbs it's currently not a possibility. I do enjoy outdoors though and do trail walks a couple times a week to substitute in the meantime. Hopefully one day I can run again. If you never ran in the rain before you should try it. One of the most exhilarating feelings. Very freeing.
And strength training!! To stay pain and injury free it is SO important to be training our strength and mobility AS WELL AS running!! It can even just be bodyweight or with dumbbells at home, but it is so important!!
❤ That’s what I was thinking to. Strength training especially squats, I found out are important for your knees, mobility, glute muscles, etc which is great for runners.
I started running in the beginning of last year with couch to 5k and it was so hard at the time, and now I have a half marathon in 2 weeks!
Wowwww go you!! That’s so exciting 👏🏽👏🏽
I'm currently doing Couch to 5k now can comfortably complete all of it. Any recommendations on another app that I can use now that I've progressed?
@@AyoRaziya the same creators have couch to 10k, half marathon and full marathon training
I've seen ppl drop weight on abundance just by walking 30-45 minutes a day....walk walk walk if you wanna run after fine
Thissss, I diddnt start my weight loss journey with anything but walking!! It my favorite form of movement
I do this 2 hours everyday with my husky
Just to add to your bit on warm up… the key point is dynamic vs static. It has been found that’s doing warm in which u are in the same spot (static) can increase injury. It is best to do dynamic stretching that involves movement (ie lunges, arm cycles etc.) as they warm that muscle up. This also applies to weight lifting too. So key note in dynamic before workout and static after workout. Cheers enjoy your runs!!
This is a great point thank you for adding to the conversation 😌🫶🏽
It’s great to have a channel with someone who is actually starting from 0. Appreciate you!!!
i’m a beginner and this is my second attempt , after only a few tries last year around this time
this was a great video for me to watch
I’m planning to start a 75 day challenge and incorporate running so this came in handy. Thanks. Watching from Accra Ghana. 🇬🇭
I really appreciate how gentle and realistic your advice is. I recently began running and you’ve helped me so much so far!
Right on time!! I just decided want to start running this summer, thank you for the tips 🫶🏽 you look great 😍
I love that you started out with walking! I also really love walking and wish I lived in a walkable city so I mostly just walk around my neighborhood and workplace. But it’s so relaxing and a great way to get into running!
you inspired me to run my first half!! Love your content so much - please keep the videos coming!
This sounds great! It's always helpful to learn from those who have been there and can share valuable insights. Thanks for putting this together! 💪
I follow you in all social media! Your testimony it’s what keeps me engaged. You are so down to Earth!
Girl I love your content so much!!! I love the energy you bring into, please keep sharing your experiences and content I know you will reach 100K soon 🎉 !
Watching from Mauritius 🇲🇺 ❤ I love this! We need more content telling us to start slower. I have seen so many videos that start by sharing a plan that would be impossible to do (and avoid injury) for new runners.
Thanks for sharing!
I love your vibe and your videos, so inspiring! ❤
Thank you for this video. I started walking - 2 weeks now and want to add running in my life journey. Love the tips!
Love this. Never took walking too seriously though I more than see the benefit. I’ve looked at walking to enjoy for leisure but really exercise for more mature people which is pretty ageist. I’m gonna take up walking because I’ve been tryna get back into running for years and its been difficult but I ran track and played sports as a kid through high school and continued through early college years. I’m ready to commit and it’s helpful to sustain with realistic tips that address pitfalls. Subscribed ❤️
You're my comfort creator. I love your content and your approach ❤ I'm going next week to get running shoes to get back to running after getting to my highest weight after a bout of depression after losing my dad and just general life struggles. Your videos have inspired me to get back to my feet. Thank you!
I love “comfort creator” she’s so easy to listen to 😍
@@MckaylaRaines truly! Such a gentle approach, I appreciate it in a world of loud and hyper-energetic. I need more gentle lol
@BittBratBurt sending peace and blessings your way. God bless you ❤
I have followed your journey for a while and you motivate me. And yes, you do have people watching you from other countries.... Hi 👋🏾 from Kenya 🇰🇪
I’m a running newbie at almost 40 and love your content. ❤
This video showed up on my algorithm after successfully being able to run (in intervals) at the park for the first time in years! Thanks for the breathing tip! I’ve been struggling with that.
I don’t know how I came across this video, but it’s timely!
I took up running during the lockdown and my sister introduced me to an app to guide along the way and it’s been helpful. Only downside is I can only enjoy outside from spring to early fall because of where I’m located- Toronto
great video! finally a video that gives tips for people who are actually starting from scratch with running ... so many "beginner" videos have people starting with a 10-15 minute mile while some of us could barely do a half mile in that time! Would love to know your skin / make up routine and if you have tips for increasing fruits and vegetable in your diet
The breathing is so real 😩 still working on that myself ! Great video. Love the tips! ❤
You definitely have people from around the world watching babe 🤭- tuning in from The Bahamas 🇧🇸 🌴☺️! I also very recently decided to run a half marathon, so I’m here for ALL the tips!
Your journey has been so inspiring and refreshing to watch. I would love to see a video where you explain more in depth how you were able to lose weight.
Girl! My military experience / weight gain etc was IDENTICAL to yours!!! I’m starting to train running again and loved this video - so helpful! New sub 💖❤️🔥💘
This was such a nice and encouraging video! I have been on and off with running forever and am entering an “on” phase. Thanks for the honesty and inspiration! Subscribed!
Friend, you have such a gift. I love that you share these videos with us.
Just found you, and it’s been great to actually relate to a creator and their life! Started running in February using the Nike Run Club app and it’s been the difference. It’s helped teach me form, different types of runs, and even has plans and playlists.
Yess I love Nike Run Club it’s my favorite app everrrr
I love your energy!
I would love to see a video explaining how you write your training plans and the variables you change!
New follower, from the world part of your viewership though still the UK :) You're energy is just amazing and it was hard not to feel motivated to try again to stick to healthy habits
Loved this video!! Such helpful tips and you look beautiful!
Yes, you do have people watching from Korea! Thank you for sharing.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I did the Jesus Trail in Israel in 2022 after I had lost about 85 lbs. I came back and started planning on the Santiago trail being my next mission. I haven’t planned it yet but it’s on my next plan. So amazing!! I plan on doing the 30 day track (the traditional, 500 mile one)
I love to watch your videos 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 they are very motivating, thank you for that ❤. Watching from Brazil while i prepare myself to run my first 10km 🙌🏻
Just started my journey today! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love all of your content! I’ve been running since January and I discovered you right around my very first 5k! You inspire me to keep pushing. Every time you post a run it motivates me. I’m now training for a 10k! 😁
That’s so awesome!! Next is 10 miles 👀👀
Watching from Australia 😍 Thank you for your beginner videos!
Of course, the world is watching! Following from France and on TikTok. You are such an inspiration! Thank you for the advice!
Aaa that’s so cool!! I’m gonna keep a tally of where everyone is from!!
thank you so much for sharing your journey! thanks to you i am no longer afraid of running you have definitely inspired me!❤
Aaa I love hearing this!! Go you 🥰🫶🏽
Yes the world is watching.. I’m watching from South Africa!!
I found you on TikTok. Thank you for this information, I was looking for advice from someone that started where I am currently ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for this video I’m thinking of starting running and these tips helped me so much . Have a great day from a Greek girl 🇬🇷🤍
love the way you explain
Yes the world!...hello from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦
Sending love from Sydney Australia ❤. I’m coming over from Your IG, watching your journey over there has been very inspiring and encouraging! So much so you went on my vision board GOALS for 2024! Seeing you smile whilst you run, looked like pure happiness and that’s truly where I want to strive towards within myself and my own fitness journey ❤.
Continue doing you and being your inspiring self ❤
Wait 😭that’s so cool, you actually just made my entire day
Thank you so much for sharing your "journey" and for all your tips! 😍 Bonjour de France 😉
I’m pausing the video to say this but if you care to share, I’d love to see more videos about Camino de Santiago! I want to do that too!
I'm glad I found your TH-cam channel. ❤
Great tips! Used to run avidly and fell off w my consistency. So true about walking and training. I used to poo poo walking…..until I walked MILES lol it’s a great catalyst to getting my running mojo back!
OMGGG THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!
Running has always made me feel so calm. It's like a metaphor for life haha. Even though it's hard, it feels good to push through
Found you on TikTok, I loveee your content!!!!
‘… maybe the world?’ - yes! Hi from the Netherlands, Europe :). Love your video’s Becca!🤍
Love that you mentioned Altras! I love mine. Subbed 🫶🏻
The tips started at 6:05. Anyway lovee ur vid 🥰
THANK YOU 🏃🏽♀️ I will try❤
Yes, we're watching! Uk
Wonderful advice!
Watching from Trinidad. So yes you’re worldwide sis!
As you know now losing weight and being physically healthier is 90% lifestyle changes….eating better, working out more, eating less lol and personal discipline!
Running is not my favorite thing but I do feel it’s the full body exercise that I need! Unfortunately I haven’t started back running this year; plan to start in two weeks…I live in the Midwest our weather is all over the place from rain, low temps or cold!
The breathing cadence you suggested I will try; I have a few methods I try none of them I love but I will try to this one….
Stretching to me is overrated, stretching doesn’t increase blood flow, actually stretching after running or any exercise is better,
The shin splints usually come from bad shoes like you mentioned or super uneven pavement from my experience…
Congratulations on your success thus far and good luck with the marathon…you seem very excited about it! (❛‿❛✿̶̥̥) 🏃♀️
Some big things people miss in warm ups are chest/shoulder/back and hip flexors. Make sure to open up chest, back and hips before runs too!
Ooo that’s a good point, thank you I’m gonna add some of those to my warm up
Omg, thank you for sharing this, you are in amazing shape I honestly believed you were always an athlete, I have been struggling to lose weight but have been on running journey since last year. Have been struggling to lose the weight despite being moderately active. Running has been a challenge but fun. I am running my first 15k in June really excited but nervous as it's my furthest distance ever.
Honestly you thinking I was always an athlete is such a compliment 😭 & wait that’s this month!! Good luck!!
Yes, you are in amazing shape and look great! Thanks and yes I crushed my race hit two personal best although I did delete the 10k from my watch by accident lol but proud of the accomplishment now I'm working to keep at it. And you are right about breathing with steps and the right shoes makes a world of difference. I definitely had blisters though so I learned 3 weeks for a slower runner is not enough time to break in your shoes definitely going be sure to get shoes at least a month and half before races. But thank you for your continued videos and sharing your journey.
Thank you for this
The thing I would say about the shoes is that you have to switch them out once you hit like 400 or 450 miles. That's when you know for sure you have to get new sneakers. Also, look at the soles to if they're worn out and how you feel in the sneakers. Great video. I'm going to look into the Ultra? sneakers you talked about.
The brand is called Altra :) that’s the brand I have and I really like them!
Air Force girly here and SAME!! I literally only exercised a month out from my yearly PT test. lol running for fun was a hige adjustment. I use to get anxiety from testing for years i’m sure but once i taught myself it’s not a race running has been so therapeutic!
I never even thought of that but I used to get super anxious too… maybe that’s another reason it took me so long to start 😭
1. You are SO beautiful ❤ and 2. I love your videos, you’re so inspiring! I have a 10k tomorrow and I’m sooo pumped ! Mostly nervous but pumped 😍
Whatttt how was your 10k?!
@@wheresbeccaat girl so good ! I did 1:12:30
I was happy with that and I did a 5k today 30:36 😍 RACE SEASON BABY
I started to run/walk on the treadmill about three months ago and am still struggling with my breathing pattern. It seems like it takes forever to improve and figure out what works best for your body.
You r glowing
Navy vet too and I can attest with ya that I did not get into shape until I got out. I'm also working on my strength and marathon training. Wish I had this motivation back then but those 13-hour shifts sucked haha
Exactly 😂 a full day at work AND watch?! There was no way I was getting to the gym
And it’s crazy because so many of the people from my command got out and they all are so active now
Thank you ❤
Cool. I've always wanted to be a runner.
Do I have any interest in running? Absolutely not. At least I didn’t think so until I watched this video.
Do I plan to get my butt outside to do some walking? Absolutely yes, as I am currently at my heaviest😭
Lol you have such a lovely spirit. What I loved the most was the real and honest assessment. Like yes homegirl it’s gonna hurt for half a year but you will adjust lol. I’m so tired of hearing the fluff. I really appreciate this content.
If you have any experience with Hokas can you please let me know your opinion? Thank you
I'm going to try that 1234 in 1234 out approach to breathing because rn I think I'm doing 1 in 1 out and I run out of breath before my legs are tired. Appreciate you!!
I’ve tried running so many times with an app. What really resonated was starting out slow. I would jog fast (for me) and then be out of breath and quit. Or I would take my dog cause I knew he would stop every 5 seconds to sniff something, which would let me catch my breath. I’m going to try this again 🙏🏽
I'm jogging 4 min😅 I'm almost at 5! I'm actually in desert heat so I'm jogging in luna sandals 👡
I gotta find lightweight shoes. Thank you for the video! 🌻
This inspired me to start running I think I’m just psyching myself out lol
I would love a video about your weight loss journey because I’m struggling 😮💨
I would love to hear that as well. I wasn't sure if you just focused on walking/running to get to your weight goal and then did weights or both ?
I had to rewind when you said walking ten miles a day then heard you say you are planning to walk the Camino de Santiago! My mom has done it three times in the past 7 years and she’s almost 69. My mom said it’s really intense but you can do it! Pack as light as possible and wear extremely comfortable, good quality socks and shoes.
Another thing! My mom averaged more like 15 miles a day, her experience at least. So keep that in mind!
hi from germany 👋🏻 i really struggle with my breathing, will try your tips
Watching from Trinidad and Tobago
We do two PT tests a year in the Navy, don’t sell yourself short!
Please link the running weight vest you are using.
Thanks from uk 🇬🇧
Hiii! Can you link your hydration vest?? ✨✨
Greetings from Switzerland
buen camino!
I know this is unrelated to the video, but can you please post the slick back bun routine with products! Or like a great ready for a run with me please!
Yessss I’ll do one in my next vlog!!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your videos are sooooo watchable and helpful. I’ve just started jogging. I live in a place where it is really hilly. How do you navigate jogging/running up hills e.g speed, breathing, motivation? Watching from England 😜
One of the parks I go to is super super hilly and I always start out slow and go up the hill at a snails pace. Sometimes I have to stop and walk up if it’s too hot but I try not to :)
Lol am I the only one when I think about my breathing I overthink about and then have even more trouble breathing 😅
I felt the same way at first but eventually it stops being a thought and it just feels natural!!
I’m the same!! 🤦🏾♀️
It was called glass house something like that
Hi Pretty, what app do you use for training currently trying to train for a half marathon but Nike run club is not working on my phone just glitching. What would you recommend?
I use the Nike running app and the app on my Strava!!
Can you do a video reviewing running shoes?
What book series do you read again?
We had PRT's twice per year. I was, unfortunately, attached to a Marine unit and us Navy Sailors had to do all the Marine PT stuff lol sucked.
