It’s important to remove the battery blanket before starting this procedure. Otherwise it soaks up the liquids and promotes corrosion of the surrounding metals. Also pain old Vaseline works as well as silicone paste at a fraction of the cost.
If the vehicle has an insulation jacket or “battery blanket” you can remove it to help keep things clean. My batteries sit in a plastic tray, so this is not an issue…
