When you do the math, resets get you more drive hours than resets. When people don’t believe your pay or miles, you know you’ve found something they haven’t. I started my trucking career and TH-cam channel to share the journey.

I think with gp there's a lot of give and take. They are growing slowly but steadily and acquiring more and more dedicated freight. In my experience my driver manager is all too happy to send me way out west on an 1800 miler after helping him out running the 500-600 mile loads everyone bitches about having to do sometimes.
In a year I've had 4 loads under 500 miles.
That's pretty good for a company man I think.

Another thing....I've just learned that gp is offering regional positions. This is a good thing because as more guys that want to be home on weekends suck up those Midwest dedicated loads that leaves the higher mileage dedicated and broker loads for us otr folks.
I mentioned it in another vid but when I started gp had little dedicated stuff and every load I got back then was long. I did take issue with the shorter dedicated stuff at first because with new customers came brief growing pains. But it's getting better and better. More drop and hooks and I'm getting a lot of longer dedicated loads in the 1200 mile range.

I’ve seen far more positive than negative about GP, and I’ve talked to a few drivers. I’m close to applying, looking for miles, efficiency of hours, and not bumping a dock every day.

Oh you can certainly get the miles here. As for efficiency that's mainly on the driver bud. There's not much micro management, at least in my experience.
As for docks...dude unless your an owner op your gonna have those 500-600 mile loads ya know? Now I don't recall any straight weeks where I was dock to dock with no straight drive days, but it does happen.
I'll say this though: out of the 5 companies I've hauled for over the years I bump way less docks for the miles I get with gp.
While not typical I had back to back loads the first was 1600 and the second was 1900. That was right out of the house. After that I ran predominantly in the Midwest on dedicated stuff for a couple days then I'm on a good load to TX.
Not every load is gonna be that good but I get them plenty often enough to off set the days I might have to make multiple stop loads and bump docks.
Either way, my mileage is pretty consistent.

@@thisotrlife7400 My previous company was mostly 500-600 mile loads, running mainly between Iowa and Ohio, where I live. They rarely sent me anywhere else although my last load was to Montana. Last 2 weeks were both under 2000 miles, and I keep the door closed and don’t stop unless necessary.
My previous company treated me well, gave me good equipment, did not micromanage, it was just pulling teeth to get more miles, and a variety of destinations.
My next to last load with my previous company, I sat for 20 hrs, waiting for it to be ready, and this was a regular customer. Just got to be too much.

Totally understand. The only place I know gp doesn't run much is Florida.
Me personally, I hate the east coast. I've gone just a handful of times. Except for a dedicated customer in Baldwinsville NY, but I like that load.

We've got dedicated freight to Nevada, Cali, Sd....I've been to Seattle a handful of times. But most of their dedicated stuff is between Oh and SD. Least that's the lane I run on usually.

@@thisotrlife7400 Yeah, not a fan of East Coast either. I liked what you said about your dispatcher in a previous video. I know some guys have gone thru a few. Been contemplating this move for about 6 months. Changing jobs is always a leap of faith, but I’ve heard far more good than bad about the company.

@@joshua-ih6nw well...I did a pretty in depth review bud. It's on the channel here. As for how they treat me. Pretty dang awesome. I have one complaint with the company, and it's not that big a deal since the pay is plenty to make up for it. The health insurance for the full family plan is a bit high but other than that I'm finally satisfied with a company.

@@joshua-ih6nw as for rules....just the standard stuff like obeying the law. Lol. GP does NOT micromanage us with a bunch of ridiculous nonsense dude. It's one of the best things that I personally really appreciate. I don't get phone calls unless it's load related stuff I need to know. They leave me alone.
