I'd always just wonder about "What if Windows released like this?" with the earlier versions of Aero and design choices that the people working on Windows had going on at the time. I'll never be tired of the development of Windows Vista, it's just such an interesting period for Windows.
Personally I would think people would say that it would be Windows XP with a reskin. This build to me looks like Windows XP with a reskin, new control panel, and a new start menu and that's it. Not enough to justify it to end right there. Though I won't pretend as if some may not prefer this.
@@Sonicrush007 I've always liked the Aero theme, and I was kind of saying more about if they had stopped developing that theme here, but probably made those other changes that make it less "XP-ish." It does have that way too close to XP feel to it and if I had to use this build for like a week, I'd probably not really like how stuff is in all those places during development.
Try using Vista Delta. It's basically Vista SP2, but has alllll the themes in the damn world. XP, vista mods like Windows 2007, 7 build 6801, Vista Beta 1 (the one in the video) and All the beta themes without aero.
At this stage, Longhorn is quite strange, it is basically Server 2003 but underhood, there are a lot of big changes. In Explorer, we're seeing a lot of changes, but the Server 2003 applets are still there and haven't been removed or changed much. Vista is the last version of Windows with many important changes underhood compared to its predecessor. I'm not sure if there's anything new in Windows 12, or if it's just overlaying XAML components while underhood it's still Vista. August 19, 2024 7:43PM
May be the fault of nested virtualization. It's literally VMware Workstation 17.5.2 on a Windows 11 host running Windows 7 Professional that is running VMware Workstation Pro 11 (with the guest OS underneath). Decreased performance is expected. To solve this issue, I am looking into dual booting Ubuntu (which I have been doing for a month or so) and doing virtualization under KVM-QEMU and doing a GPU passthrough to improve the performance of nested virtualization.
Any chance of showing everyone (excluding me because I already know) to install windows betas in pcem? Last pcem vid was from February 2021, and that video shows windows 98 second edition rtm. My build to show in that video is windows 98 build 1619.
I no longer recommend PCem which was why I instead did an 86Box tutorial three weeks ago. PCem hasn't been updated in over three years meanwhile 86Box is always updated and has way more options for machines and gets the newest available emulated hardware. Just follow that tutorial and see the descriptions of the videos I did if I covered that build, if not a similar build video.
@@westonburger2546 They certainly will be, but often people don't read the description to see when a video is uploaded or pay attention to see when a comment is posted (I get plenty of comments that assume a video I uploaded years ago was recent) so I can see some problems with that. And I was gone for a year previously without explanation and not many problems have resulted from that.
From what I see on BetaWiki, 5212 was the first to have an Ultimate Edition (where XP Home split into Home Basic and Home Premium (there's even a Starter edition of this build) and Professional split into Professional, Professional Enterprise, and Ultimate). This is the first build to include the edition on the branding (like what you see on Winver)
Blackmailing??? I don't think that means what you think it means. The reasoning why I don't do it by comment is because I have a build request website for people to put requests in and to choose randomly so I don't have to keep track of requests due to having them in multiple places and then dealing with forgetting to manually add someone's request to a list and I also only have so much time to do these videos. The only way I can do them is do them randomly. I also cannot simply do them in order because the most recent probably wouldn't get covered for 20 years as I have so many requests. My system I have in place is by no means perfect, but it's the only way it's doable with such little available time. Putting your request in yourself isn't too much to ask for. Your data isn't being exposed to the public as there is an option to be anonymous with your request. We just ask you use an email and verify that the email address is legitimate. It's really a simple process.
@@Sonicrush007 Sorry, I didn't want to insult you. I had bad mood yesterday. I only dislike request systems because I had bad experience with reluctance from some gaming blog website in past. But your request system is good I think.

If you think about it, every windows version is the same, but each one has something new or stuff revamped.
I have a question
what is your favorite windows longhorn/Vista bulid
I still don't understand why they didn't finish this build and release it as Vista.
They made it just worse
Can you do Windows Server 2012 Milestone 2 Build 7904?
how did i make it here so early

I always put how I got these to run in the description, just never in the video exactly for time's sake.

another video idea for me
where are the views?
Wait like few minutes to hours, any videos wont get views instantly
This just got uploaded now so it takes awhile. Most people have no clue this is up yet or may not have the time to watch.
