Indeed. This OS to me felt exactly like XP but with an Aero theme. It was probably for the best that it didn't stay that way because it wouldn't have helped in terms of popularity (if you put aside Vista's problems at release).
This was the first Build I ever Beta tested. :) After spending my entire middle childhood with Windows XP on every computer everywhere, I'll never forget the elation and joy of being 15 and installing and using Longhorn 5219 in October 2005 and seeing the ice blue and clear interface and hearing those new, soothing Windows sounds. It was a beautiful new vista.
I would have barely been a few months old at that point in time, but I can imagine what an exciting time it must have been for development. Certainly seems the case to me looking back on these

At 38:37, Windows Media Center's UI has been slightly revamped to resemble the final version of WMC in Vista. One Indonesian tech reviewer on TH-cam later identified it as a Beta 1 version of WMC V3. The UI would later be identical to V3 starting with Vista build 5384.
Not going to lie, I hated 5219. It had required me to download a version of Workstation that was so old that it was not designed to run on anything newer than Windows 8.1. Sometimes it causes an unexpected BSoD on the host. Literally lost 32 minutes of video when doing this build because my host got a BSoD while recording and it seemed to be triggered by opening anything related to Speech in the guest half the time.

Thanks for watching! I 100% agree that I should have more builds related to 3.x, 9x and older NT builds. A lot of people are mostly requesting XP and Vista builds. I'd like to see more people put requests in for those builds. I will of course do videos that aren't requests just for that, but that's because I do not want every video to be an XP and a Longhorn build. As for the 360p limit, that's because TH-cam is still processing the HD version. I usually wait for it to fully process in HD before publishing it but I do not have enough time to wait. I had to publish it and send the links on my website and social media then leave because it takes so long to process in HD.

It took my PC 14 minutes to render this video and is probably a gigabyte or two. Uploading takes not even 5 minutes and TH-cam takes almost 2 hours or sometimes even more to process in HD.
Along with the Windows 10 mods disguised as XP or 2000, I like to try these Windows prototypes together with Android ones, such as the case of Android 12 in its earliest versions before September 2021 when it had things from Android 8, 9, 10 and 11 with new colors but everything changed in the end and from the music now I understand why young Bizarrap likes remixes
Window animations are just like what you see in Windows 10 and 11. I hate how Microsoft did this to the animated effects. They should have left them the same as they were in Vista, 7 and 8. Edit: NVM looking at it again, it follows the same path as what you see in Vista, 7 and 8.
@@NotReallyHype Indeed. Also be warned that if you are running VMware 10 on Windows 10 and newer, it may BSoD on the HOST unexpectedly. Running it in compatibility mode as Windows 8 or lower helps a ton, but there is still no guarantee it won't BSoD.
I tried using Workstation 11 with hardware compatibility set to 6 5-7.x, yet it complains about the VM requiring AVX2 and my host not having AVX (even though it clearly does have it)
Try going into your services folder and setting "VMware Workstation Sever Properties" to "Automatic (Delayed Start)". If that doesn't work: try setting the compatibility higher than 7.x. That should help. If you need more, ask me!

I need help: I can't update XP to Vista 5219 or Vista 5231 because of an error in Windows Setup. "An error has occurred when preparing the computer to boot into the next phase of Windows Installation."
I don't know anything about upgrading but do you have to upgrade to it? Clean installing and doing it the way I did it is a lot more simple. If you insist on upgrading to this build, it would probably be better to upgrade from a previous build of Vista as opposed to doing it from XP. (So upgrade XP to a build and use that build to upgrade to that build)
That's good. I hope VMware 12 behaves fine on Windows 11. This video was the biggest pain to do because my host crashed multiple times with Workstation 11 while recording (lost an entire 30 minutes of recording the first time)
@@nordic_tech_xd I switched to nested Virtualization to run workstation 11 if I need to as even workstation 12 kind of breaks things. No clue if Aero works on this build for Workstation 12.
@@bogdandvore Make sure you are using the right driver. Please see the description for what version I used for each driver and the video on how I installed it. Also, make sure you are using VMware because it's not going to work unless you are using VMware. Never use Virtualbox if you want drivers to work.

Especially since the sounds were actually XP sounds as the real sounds.

In general, the design in this build is beautiful that there is even a screensaver with a ready-made logo, which will later become official.

I am living with this build without Aero
You kind of have to if you don't have an older version of VMware Workstation (the actual program and not just backwards compatibility alone)

No. Your folder will not be replaced, but I highly recommend you back up the folder anyway because I've heard of weird things happening before.
