I can’t believe I actually got teared up for Ascended Astarion. How many hundreds of times did he have to beg at Cazador’s feet, completely at his mercy?
He did commit mass genocide against people who have been tortured and starved for centuries, including children and continued with the ritual despite their screams of agony as he killed them & sent them to hell but ah...make Astarion seem like the victim I guess.

Did this with mine too. My character was manipulating him throughout the whole story to suit his purposes. Astarion was a tool to him. To be pushed aside and discarded once it was no longer of use. He was an evil reject-urge playthrough.

Lmao And RUINING our lovely companions who only needed love, encouragement, some guidance, and people they could trust. NOPE. Fun to see all of the outcomes for this but I couldn't invest my time and go down an evil route. 😂 I'd feel so sick afterwards. Lol I'm thankful some people don't mind it and they can show us, but also still surprised it's even a possibility to begin with. 🤣🤣🤣
It's because of the tadpole the player has their own agency. Without it they would be a puppet to Astarion's whims just like he was with Cazador. Astarion states this in the beginning. To quote "They've changed the rules."
To stay with AA, you have to become his spawn, so yeah, he's very much getting a taste of his own medicine in that scene. You'd only be subject to his control in endings where you've destroyed the tadpoles.
