Unlike other youtubers who over hype and hide floors to kiss but, Carl's guide holds true to his channel and himself and shows the game as it is without bs.
Carl,Welcome to Farming. Yes you do clean the Cow. Clean barn daily. If we had Horse in game, you would have to clean there feet. Farming is not easy. Also my Friend has never had foxes steel thier eggs or chicken. However the Neighbors dog has killed half there chickens. N the Bald Eagles n Hawks love chickens. I love the " never been so happy to see the welcome wagon, give me the fruit cake n leave my house."
Just the same boring stuff you get in all the packs because apparently you can't have more cow's, like in the sims 3 with the horses: a barn and then you add as many as you want and even breed them! You only can have one barn per animal and in front you have your cow, when you want more you have to add every time a new barn and you can't breed them to have babies! pretty lam! Not worth the money! And what when you don't have enough space to place such a barn???
I also feel like that, I haven't been interested in a DLC for YEARS and this kinda sounds like a decent pack with gameplay. I still think it's too late to salvage the game tho... Might I add that I only think it's decent bc it will integrate great with existing mods, which shouldn't be a thing, the pack should be able to stand by itself. But then again, you can't expect anything from EA.
@@nathaliecarluccio7559 we don't have horses yet but they should have came in pets. In regards to cows in sims 3 you couldn't breed them either and they were objects too
I was really hoping they would allow Residential lots in Granite Falls and Selvadorada with this. What better place to keep llamas than Selvadorada? I'm not really expecting it to happen though, and I see no reason why it can't.
Or the person who decided it was a lake and not a pond comes from somewhere with a very hot climate. I live in the middle east, where ponds aren't a thing because they evaporate
I think if I worked for EA and was given the task of making a lake....I would take the time to research what common lakes look like and not make excuses
I'll likely never buy this game (instead I'd do that yohoho life) so I really really appreciate you making this. I think even knowing what I'm doing my style would be chaotic! But even more so when I'm going in fairly blind and have $400 in my Sim's account. I felt the missions were probably OK but not good for early in a game. I have hopes this will be fun with other packs installed.
So, he's been cleaning his cow's barn for a while, but still has nothing to fertilize the crops with? An ad for fertilizer producers or a clueless dev team? Maybe both?
@@westworld237 you mean the pack? But criticism and pointing this out is good because it can make people realize what is missing and recommend devs to add things

My only point was that it’s better to give an informed opinion than an uninformed one, not that we can’t comment on the game before it’s out (that would be dumb lol)
@@westworld237 at this point people are just making up excuse to hate on EA because of their greed and apparent laziness (according to some people)which I would join in but EA is doing some good things like adding cool stuff so I'm not complaining yet
Sounds like you had fun with it. And the chores thing is I guess more game play for teens and kids to help out. So that big family in the trailer was there for a reason. It too much work for just one SIM which is realistic. Realistic gameplay from a farming pack who knew?
"They told me to spread my seed to everyone" ....Welp, EA really went all in on the innuendo in this pack 😂 We should've expected no less after the big aubergines in the teaser trailer
The commentary in this video is absolutely perfect. This is why I subscribed. Also, it may be just me, but I am getting some Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time vibes from this pack with the chickens, countryside setting and farms. Not to mention running errands.
It's usually fun to dive into new content and check things out and how they work, since it's one of the main things I do. I really need to see how well this integrates with the other packs to have a more sturdy opinion :)
They could have made all the country lots 50x50 & 64x64. I have lived in small towns. I understand the towns space being small. But all the farms were big. I know live in a small city. All the farms around us at big
@@AuttumnDawn I live next to Amish land, Pa and surrounded by country everywhere, and I think the difference is what you're using the land for. Because the larger farms were for vegetation, not animal stock. Sometimes, animal breeders would have large plots of land. This is because these are money maker farms, specifically for rearing as much produce as you can to sell it. but this pack seems to be focused on the lifestyle aspect and not the industrial, so if you're just raising animals to feed your family, a small farm is better because it's lower maintenance. It would've been cool to have a sort of lifestyle vs industrial aspect to this pack, to continue the theme of Eco lifestyle and really give that pack more playability.

Carl, this is awesome. I love your takes on expansions and other packs; it's so much more honest than those of others. The way you laugh at your own jokes just makes me laugh more.
I'm still excited for this pack. Not sure how much will change between what you have and what i'd see when i can buy it and it's combined with the other packs. Regarding your surprise about the amount of care the cow needs, this is weirdly enough one of the things i'm most excited about. Well, i mean, i'm excited about a lot of things from this pack, but the focus on daily tasks/chores that are nice and repetitive without being annoying (that i could see) are something i've been trying to do without much success.
Yeah this is a good reason to hold off on a review. Some of the activities + cows/chickens might be really fun with other packs installed especially with the new lot trait.
The way the cheese works, I'd assume, it's actually a dessert. That's why it has 12 servings (kinda like a cake) and you need two, to actually fill up hunger.

So I want to do some research (Typing "the sims 4" on google and youtube search, to be exact) and found some Simmers, including this channel.
This is my first video that i deliberately watched from this channel after youtube recommend this to me after several days. And i'm here for it lol.
This is such a great no bs video. Honest and shows the game as it is without over hype. This videos makes me what to buy it more because I can see what I'm paying for in a way I myself will probably play it. Unlike other youtubers who over hype and hide floors to kiss but, Carl's guide holds true to his channel and himself and shows the game as it is without bs.
My granddaddy used to have cows and you have to brush them and give them a bath every so often or they could get sick or get a parasite
I mean that makes sense. I’m surprised people didn’t know this, I always assumed this was the case. 😳

The TS4 ship has kind of sailed for me, but this is the first time I feel this optimistic about an expansion.
have been thinking the same exact thing!!
"You're awful Alexander, I know I should have kidnaped anyone else!" LMAO I DIE
Only thing I can think is they've never seen a lake 😂😂
Or the person who decided it was a lake and not a pond comes from somewhere with a very hot climate. I live in the middle east, where ponds aren't a thing because they evaporate
Lakes come in different sizes. Not every country has bodies of water on the USA scale. It looks like what I would call a lake in my country.
I think if I worked for EA and was given the task of making a lake....I would take the time to research what common lakes look like and not make excuses
@@runsincircles7200 or maybe, juussstt maybe, lakes look different in different countries lmao e.g the comment above yours

I'll likely never buy this game (instead I'd do that yohoho life) so I really really appreciate you making this. You're not a seasoned let's play gamer so your play style is as chaotic as anyone could be. I like it. I like that you're answering questions as I think of them and I know that those you haven't answered, you'll get to those too next time. I like you Carl, you're the best
Maybe both?
Occasionally fertilizer is added to your Sim's inventory when cleaning the animal barn. It can be used on the Large Crops.
Or maybe… you’ve not seen every single aspect of the gameplay yet because the game literally isn’t out yet 😂🤯
@@westworld237 you mean the pack? But criticism and pointing this out is good because it can make people realize what is missing and recommend devs to add things
@@PoptartParasol I 100% agree, however the above comment isn’t criticism. They are speculating whether or not something is in the pack, assuming it’s not and then insulting the devs over their incorrect assumption. It’s honestly just mean. There are so many other things that can genuinely be critiqued just based on what we have actually seen.
Love Carl’s brutal honesty when he games! Literally the real deal.
Nothing makes me smile more than Carl laughing at his own jokes. It’s literally so pure 😂
Sounds like you had fun with it. And the chores thing is I guess more game play for teens and kids to help out. So that big family in the trailer was there for a reason. It too much work for just one SIM which is realistic. Realistic gameplay from a farming pack who knew?
Required ingredients is going to go so well with the grocery mods
5:00 Damn, that's one TINY world.
I was hoping for windenburg level of lots, but silly me. It's exhausting playing this game and wanting better things.
@@wheezel55 lol it's not even meant to be a big city like Windenburg or San Myshuno….
@@TONZAMUSIC It's definitely meant to have lots of farmlands like the actual places it's based on.
@@TONZAMUSIC it's the countryside. it's a quaint village. except it's literally TINY.
Yeah Strangerville is Bigger. You would think they could at least have made all country lots 50x50& 64x64. The town ones can be small.
Of the three Cottage Living videos I've watched, yours is by far the most enjoyable. Thank you for sharing the good and bad with us!
"They told me to spread my seed to everyone" ....Welp, EA really went all in on the innuendo in this pack 😂 We should've expected no less after the big aubergines in the teaser trailer
LOL "that's a poster, Carl".
The commentary in this video is absolutely perfect. This is why I subscribed. Also, it may be just me, but I am getting some Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time vibes from this pack with the chickens, countryside setting and farms. Not to mention running errands.
Lol your introduction was more optimistic then usual
It's usually fun to dive into new content and check things out and how they work, since it's one of the main things I do. I really need to see how well this integrates with the other packs to have a more sturdy opinion :)
“Get one of each and hope they’re not siblings like Rey and Kylo were.” You mean Luke and Leia?
I was looking to see if anyone else commented on that lol
I love how animated and friendly your voice is!
12 lots...:( I really dislike how there is SO MUCH SPACE and EA puts so few working lots
Seriously.. Windenburg has *27* lots ...
You always give a chuckle Carl. But this one had me laughing out loud. I didn't even want Cottage Living but I do now. Thank you for all your helpful, informative, and entertaining work Carl & Company.
They did Stardew Valley errands and farm living without really committing😂 still excited for it tho
Pffff haha Sims 4 WISHED it was Stardew Valley 😂😂
OMG I have missed you!!! I about peed myself laughing so hard. Welcome wagon!
thanks, was keeping my eyes peeled for this!
While the fair looked pretty dull, everything else looks pretty promising, not gonna lie. I haven't gotten to say that about a sims EP in ages.
I haven't finished the video yet, but this: "I'm really confused. This is not an episode of Blue's Clues" killed me 🤣
Hahah, I thought I sounded like a person asking a child which circle was orange.
@@CarlsSimGuides Haha I was half expecting you to leave a long pause and then go "good job!"
I love how he brings himself to laugh regularly.
abducting a child and forcing it to can vegetables, nothing problematic going on there lol.
The part where he kidnapped Alexander and the commentary that followed it was my favourite gamechangers gameplay ever😂😂
I'm curious: what happens if you kill off the townie like the mayor, the crumplebottoms, the creature keeper etc-- will the fame generate new sims to fill their roles? Also could you place a cow shed or chickens on an apartment lot to do urban farming?
Maybe in the penthouses?
Apparently, everyone except the Crumplebottoms (they’re immortal) gets replaced.
Thanks for the video! Glad to see you posting again!
Happy to be getting back into the swing of things. I was on a very long project in June!
I swear, one of the best things about a new pack is your video on it. This one has got to be one of my favorites, lol. I swear, I cannot wait for the pack to come out for the final gameplay review.
Your narration is honestly the best! Can't wait for part 2 and I can't believe this pack actually looks exciting for once.
The way the lot challenge that makes my sim have to buy grocery is probably the best thing of all! I will use it for every single lot!
Carl, this is awesome. I love your takes on expansions and other packs; it's so much more honest than those of others. The way you laugh at your own jokes just makes me laugh more.
I'm absolutely losing my mind over the condescending tone of a lot of what you're saying. This is such a good overview. lmao
Crap I wasn't even trying to be condescending!
@@CarlsSimGuides nooo I loved it. Seemed appropriate. I love The Sims so much but EA also pisses me off so much. 😂
That lake? Yeah… it’s totally a pond. Scale it a few times larger then it could be considered a lake.
I can’t get over the lake bit… too funny
Omg, this video is hilarious! Please keep on uploading, can't wait for part two!
Carl...you're a gem! I'm going to enjoy switching this town to the 1800s.
The way the cheese works, I'd assume, it's actually a dessert. That's why it has 12 servings (kinda like a cake) and you need two, to actually fill up hunger.
Thats an interesting choice for me. Soft cheese sure, but hard cheese is like a brick sitting in your stomach LOL. Very filling.
Ok, this made me laugh. Of course, I'm still not interested in anything Sims 4 anymore, but watching you play this was entertaining. 🙂
So far the most hilarious I’ve seen so far🤣 you have the best sarcastic voice! I want more!!! LP’s Yes Please!!!
I laughed so hard at the abducting of the Goth kid
I like how Carl is telling us how he truly feels, I feel like the TH-camrs I’ve seen talk about this seemed really happy and didn’t really go into the game play. I’m glad that Carl is telling us how the game is good and also has some bad in it. I’ve been looking for people to watch who talk about the game play and show us it instead of shortly going through it. I’m finding out new stuff from Carl. So thank you Carl
Your tone and attitude in this video is extraordinary, I can't stop giggling!
It's great seeing your first reactions to everything and I appreciate the tongue in cheek way your playing the game.
me having early access... but still came here as soon as you dropped this vid 🤣
Hey, my buddy. Happy to see you drop in.
I had to watch your Cottage Living coverage first. You are so hilarious! Especially the milk bag and abducting Alex part. I love your videos! Keep up the great work. I can't wait for this pack.
Showing how large and empty the neighborhoods are still makes me question why the hell this pack didn't come with horses. They'd be *perfect* to trot around the place and help with these quests and deliveries.
I have been laughing until tears started rolling down my face for most of this video! I'm LIVING for all this chaotic energy!!!! Looking forward to the next part. THANK YOU!!!!!
Alternative title: Carl having a mental breakdown while reviewing Cottage Living for 27 minutes and 8 seconds
I only watch Carl's videos because he makes them fun. It's the only reason I still glance at Sims 4 stuff.
I had to watch your Cottage Living coverage first. You are so hilarious! Especially the milk bag and abducting Alex part. I love your videos! Keep up the great work. I can't wait for this pack. Congrats on being a Game Changer now!! :)
There are a total of 14 residential lots and 13 community lots in Windenburg...I guessing we will never see a new world of this size again.
Pretty sure we won't. Looking back that was such a good pack, in comparison to what we get now.
Ah, yes, one of the TH-camrs opinion that I care about the most because he is so trust worthy and won my respect :)
What this space for Carl's review then - it's coming out soon!
The "waiting for expensive animals to lactate" part took me OUT
Yay, I love your videos and I love when you post long ones! Love listening to them while I do other things.
I was waiting for this since you said it on Twitter
"My poor cow" best quote of the video!! You're awesome! Thank you for the review
This was so much fun. Thanks for the laugh Carl.
This is one of my favourite lets play of the new pack so far! Love the humour!
this pack got me thinking of medieval pack. hopefully we get one in the future!
I’d like the idea of a pack that sends us to a medival world, similar to Strangerville or Batuu. Exploring and adventuring sounds fun. I’d also like to see a Castaway pack. Plays like the Sims2 castaway game on the PS2. I really loved that game and it could easily be used as inspiration for a Sims 4 castaway pack.
The tone of your voice in this video was hilarious. I loved it. Love your videos. 👍🏻
*can already picture Carl and his bird army*
I'm working on that now in my script, this is the best comment.
I love your humor in your videos! Thank you for sharing a look at the gameplay! I cannot wait for the pack to come out!
I was looking forward to this so much! I smiled so big when I got the notification.
That's the kind of reaction I hope for! Thank you.
I laughed wayyyy too hard at this and I'm not ashamed of it lol your explanation of the gameplay was just impeccable lol
