THE STORY OF DESTINY 2

I just realized that Bungie quite literally told us that the Pyramids are "Traveler's Ancient Enemy" that caused Humanity to nearly extinct.
You can even see the Ship when these words are said...
Explanation after over a year:
I knew back then what the Pyramids are.
I just didn't notice them in the background during that Cutscene/Dialogue.

One year later, Bungie is possibly putting D2 back on the right track. This game somehow pulls you back in over and over and over.
Same it’s insane how I say I’m done playing the game and I come back like 3 hours later
Walter hughes just started playing the game completely new and wow, the mission where you involuntarily follow the Falcon is really well done

Joe Joe not really a couple months into d2 I just said fuck this game then when forsaken came out I started playing fr then when I finished everything pretty much in forsaken I quit again right now I’m playing a lot but my point is this game didn’t bring me back and back only when DLC I try it
I find it amazing that the darkness was teased in literally the very first minutes of the game and nobody realised how important it would be

Some may say Broman overracted his emotions but I dont think he did. A true Destiny fan who loved everything about the game would feel this way. If anything, Broman probably held most of his emotions in bc he was live streaming LOL

I love Destiny as much as anyone and this intro is great and all, but I do feel like it is an overreaction. I feel like I'm a very over expressive person but I look at this video and a lot of other of his reaction videos and this is to much and this video is probably one of his videos were he doesn't overreact as much. I watched the Shadowkeep reaction and I had to turn it off because even though its exciting and all, it's nothing to scream about like Valve has just announced Half Life 3.
But also what he has done for the Destiny community is amazing, so I guess it depends on peoples own taste and what they find enjoyable in his and other peoples videos?
Anyways this just an opinion so don't mind me or let it take your enjoyment away ^^

The memories hit me hard as well... I was partied with the whole clan when we all logged in and it was just silent... finally someone went “Guys...” and I think we all shed a tear. Hardcore Destiny fans knew the sacrifice and earned that damn tear. Right on, Bungie. Much love

And so, the legendary tale of sir Professor Broman the guardian would end when he tripped and fell down a cliff without his light. He will forever be remembered.
Ya know.... for some reason this video popped up on my feed. I was confused but clicked on it because of the memories. Everyone gave bungie suuch a hard time but in the moment. Through this campaign the emotions were real. Thank you for bringing those emotions and feelings back. My gosh I remember playing the campaign and tearing up after seeing the city destroyed. Amazing video. Thank you.

Im so happy I was part of the Day 1 players for D2. I was just as emotional ngl. I do wish new players got to experience this or a condensed version of it.
Not gonna lie I tried my hard not to cry when you wake up from that mini coma up until the farm. For 4yrs I've worked to protect the city just to have it destroyed and for me to be reduced to a mere mortal. And the very beginning is amazing. All these charitable moments shared with completely strangers all rushing back at once. It's like uuhh Bungie you know how to pull my heart strings.
Adaptable {Mr. NerdyGamer} the only part where I almost rested up was when Journey (part of the soundtrack) started playing. It gave me goosebumps.

Damn, just saw the memories now... never knew they existed because I went from Xbox to PC. I knew about the veteran dialogue but the memories with the timestamps... I'm sad I missed out on that.
D2 definitely had a rough launch but you can't deny that the memories and opening cutscene were fucking incredible

Thank you so much for this. I quit d2 in beyond light due to obvious reasons, but.. September 2017 was truly one of my favorite months of my life thanks to D2 release. The red war that introduced me to the destiny universe was something memorable and truly amazing, I remember also overflowing with emotions when I was escaping the last city and Journey was playing.

rewatching this after all these years for the nostalgia. That moment after Gaul happened, and you were getting misty eyed from the line delivery and the music composition, brought me back to playing this for the first time. Sitting in my Aunt's house with my PS4 hooked to the smallest imaginable tv ever. Wondering if my house was going to be underwater and I lose everything from Hurricane Harvey, or if my house would even still be there with the tornadoes that had ravaged my neighborhood. That feeling that this mission gave to everybody, that feeling of hopelessness and agony, that everything could be gone was what I was going through in real life. I Live near Houston so if anyone remembers what that storm did to it, yep, me and my neighborhood. I honestly couldn't even play this game for the first few months after release because of Harvey. I had just opened up my own business on top of that and I remember sitting at my store before closing down for the storm... It started taking on water as a design flaw from the build. Had to get shovels and dig a trench around a slab of concrete, a trench about 60-70 ft... and made a makeshift bulkhead from a random rail road cross tie, clay mud and stones to stop it from coming in. Left the store, made it home to see my dad had gotten a ton of dirt brought over to try to dam up the house because of how low it sits. My dad, my cousin and myself then commenced to building up said dam and starting running a sump pump to divert the water out of the canal that had formed around my house. All of this took around 12 hours straight, while in the downpour of the storm, waters rising and rising fast. After that, I went to my Aunt's house which is in a much safer and higher place with just a few items. Amongst those, my ps4 as I was so excited to play this game on release. Whole time wondering if what I had done was enough to save the house and my business. This game just kicked every emotion I had into overdrive and had to stop playing. After the storm had passed and the water went down, I was still in a heap of mess as it took over a month to get my business opened back up again and deal with the damages to the building. Dealing with all of that I didn't even want to play anything.
Skip forward 7 years and here I am watching this video reliving those same feeling that I had pushed away, as Beryl is heading for us again. Not cool TH-cam Algorithm, not cool...
But thanks Professor for the feels, so yeah, I know the emotions you were feeling too, especially after how much I played D1.

From playing D1 on Xbox to D2 on PC, I didn’t even know those memory things existed
my god, I got bored and decided to watch this cause why not. until today I had no idea about the memories thing cause I switched to PC for D2, this is incredible
Watching this in 2024, I completely forgot about that intro part with all the past achievments of your fireteam. Its actually insane that they removed that along with the entire red war tbh. They clearly had no clue what to do narratively and wanted to just wipe the slate I guess.

I still feel as if the discarded part of the Traveler was corrupted somehow by the darkness, hence why it was discarded. Taking the light back from it gave us the ability to use the darkness in the future. Its always been one of my theories

I doubt the triangle itself had any meaning. It was just talking about the darkness.

I didn't even play the first game, nor did I know anything about this game going in, and my reaction was pretty much the same. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the intro so heartbreaking.

the start of D2 red war was great but the rest of the campaign was kinda bad and rushed but it was fun
they actually done a really good job recapping all the activities you have done in the intro, its really emotional seeing your name there and people you fight with.

From the beta to the very first mission, this game has got to be one of the most impacting. Although new light wont let new players see this, we can still all remember how good this is.

you should take a look at what the damaged armor for each class says. theyre in the collections menu under armor and tv tropes has some examples if you want to see other des2 things.
