So, just a little clarification on Calus there: He was the Cabal Emperor before Ghaul deposed and exiled him, he's been flying around the galaxy recruiting different forces to his banner to reclaim what he calls his "loyalist empire". That "Royal Wine" made from planetary crust is something he uses to boost his psionic power. The robot at the end is not truly him, just a final challenge for the Guardians to prove themselves so he may extend his invitation to discover that strange power he found, he's actually rather friendly with the guardians, most likely due to their hand in killing Ghaul.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The preorder bonus for Destiny 2 are like, excerpts from his diary, and he lists the cabal in power and those he has grievences with because they helped Gaul betray him. Including his own daughter, who is important later in the games. If you imagine Calus as Dionysus, the greek god of revelry and wine... you kinda get who he is... but not in full. He's incredibly interesting. I look forward to more reactions.
It's still funny that one of the things that caused it was basically just some Legionarys on the Dreadnaught sending a distress signal.those Cabal literally caused the beginning of the end
This was the real start to the end tho. Oryx may have came to conquer but he was dealt with. This caused the witness to find us and it’s disciples. If they never invaded and tried to forcefully take the light then the witness wouldn’t have found us so there wouldn’t be any war between us and it’s disciples. Ghaul unintentionally caused the end
amanda holliday had a brief role in the taken king, she was the one who rigged cayde's stealth drive onto eris morn's ship. She's a pilot as well as the head shipwright of the tower hangar
36:24 You think the Speaker is being metaphorical about "the light will find it's way." The funny thing is that it's NOT metaphor. The "Light" isn't a metaphor for the goodness of humanity. It's the Traveler's paracausal power, which is to say its powers that allow it to defy the laws of reality. Ghaul believes he can forcibly control the Light, and the Speaker is explaining that the Light can't be controlled. Edit: Specifically, the Light can not be taken. It must be given.
This is one of the greatest stories in destiny. Being able to roam around in the last city, lightless, while trying to escape. My second Favorite story after Taken King.
Ghaul gets alot of crap because he failed but what he's done lives rent free in guardians head he had us by the throat and if he didn't want to earn the light he could've easily taken it and showed with such little time he'd be godlike with the light if he had more time to hone it. I love this guy, Rhulk is a close second.
For me ghaul is in his own league for what he done. He wasn’t a god he was mortal. He didn’t need any sort of power of the light or dark to invade the city. Rhulk in the other hand is the strongest being we’ve faced as he uses the darkness to a level of mastery. In fact if he actually took us seriously we wouldn’t have left his domain Alive. He only actually tries to kill us in his last seconds during final stand after he realised we were actually seconds from killing him. This also is proven as during his fight if you have the buff he will say such random things in a non serious way and even fakes that he’s fallen asleep during it. All rare things to happen tho
Then we find out in the lore cards that the Cabal..Red Legion had help from one of the Nine. That member of the Nine somehow blocked the early warning sensors (hence Ikora saying the sensors/satellites weren't there and mention possible sabotage) so we had no idea the attack was coming and as a result...we lost the first round along with many Guardians. :( Also 5:46 - 5:50; Shaxx told the Guardian, "Over here Hunter." That shows that they are playing a New Light (aka they didn't play Destiny 1) otherwise Shaxx would have said something like: "Ah Saladin's Young Wolf."
@@DarthDragon007 no its only rise of iron, i think some of the other npc chats are different aswell depending on if you played certain dlcs, like not recognizing taken if you stopped playing before ttk and only came back to d2
A bit about the "I speak for the Traveler, but I never said it spoke to me" line: It's explained in a later dlc in a lore book that there were more than 1 Speaker in the Dark Age. The Traveler didn't "speak" in the normal sense, rather through images and visions. One day, the Last Speaker (the one we see in game) suddenly loses the connection, or he can't "contact" the Traveler anymore. So he scrapped together a crude mask of metal and can suddenly "hear" them again. The mask we see is a better version of it, but apparently the Traveler doesnt speak anymore until that vision of the bird flying through all the random objects in the dream. So him saying that line is basically confirming the idea of a Silent God. The lore book is called "Constellations" if you want to read it.
Read Radiant Accipiter, the Traveler spoke to the Speaker for the first and last time, it told the Speaker that it speaks for itself now and it no longer needs a Speaker. Since then it has spoken to us Guardians, to Crow during the Hawkmoon exotic mission and to Eido in the form of dreams and visions since she was a hatchling. The Eliksni have a prophecy about Eido being the Eliksni child of light and Mithraxx has gone through some drastic steps to protect her. He sent a legendary team of Eliksni splicers into the Vex network to erase all their information about her existence.
i real love Ghaul, he is simply an amazing villian. the writing to him was great, and how he would rather be chosen than take by force. just a great level of writing.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It hurts, but it's also super understandable why they cut the game down in size. The game is already a pretty hefty download, imagine it with all that content still in the game. Now me personally I'd have just split the game into separate downloads, but even then that'd be really hard to do with how destiny operates. Perhaps they could've made the campaign content downloadable in their own separate spaces. But alas, we'll not see the likes of any of this returning in the near future.
@@0wl-my personal hope is that we see some of this content again post final shape, as bungie did hint that destiny wouldn’t be over after final shape, and if they mean destiny 3 or a sequel by a different name, I hope they restore the original campaigns and dlcs, I still really want Sagira’s shell but sadly it’s impossible to get now that they vaulted curse of Osiris. Now by seeing this content again, I wouldn’t be surprised if they shift it so that the vex are the big bad again, and we get a time travel story that takes us back to these points where we stop the vex from altering the timeline like a big speed run of all the bosses we went through, from destiny 1 at the black garden, to ghaul, to Uldren, and onwards. Like as a big final send off to everything that is destiny. Heck you could make that the third game and I’d play it.
The place Ikora was at, Io, wasn't supposed to have that giant ship in the air by the way. It was there because of a seasonal story that was going on when this person recorded the campaign.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I think that’s totally the right call. Nonstop would likely be exhausting for you guys and you’d probably forget a lot of the details over time, much better like this when you can discuss smaller chunks 😊 Looking forward to your journey into the D2 story ❤️
1:49:34 Unfortunately, your rage will be worse because, for some reason, Asher went into the Pyramidion and jumped into the VEX lake and became a VEX himself to win against a Hive contingent. Eventually, even the VEX found Asher's mind to be a detrimental ally, so they tried deleting him for 100 years, but thankfully, for Guardians, time moves differently so you finally get to see it.
Fun fact/coincidence: in the final cutscene, where the light reaches the pyramids there are shown the first 3 destinations added in the DLC in order. Mercury (Curse of Osiris) Mars (Warmind) The Reef (Forsaken)
Just as a friendly little nod, all of the Destiny 2 content has alternate dialog depending on how much of Destiny 1 you have played called the veteran dialog. Which considering your journey I would put you guys in that category and would recommend you watch a compilation of that alternate dialog and see how different if comes across with that.
Ghaul did earn his spot. That's the tragedy of his journey, in his mind he did everything right. He rose from nothing when given a chance to fight for it despite insults and dismissal. He tried his best to bring back his people from disgrace and lethargy despite what they had done to him earlier. He began giving every Cabal the chance to fight for their own freedom instead of being enslaved to an Emperor, hence why he retained Dominus and not Emperor like his old friend wanted. It became why he wanted the Traveler to see him so badly, because he did not get why after all that he has done, it still isn't enough. The people who have the Traveler now can be criminals, or nobodies, and it frustrated him. Hence why it would be failure to just take it for him, because it became a personal judgment of his entire life that he thought he lived righteously by the heritage he was born into.
1:39:54 Please note that the black triangle thing in the background wasn't a part of the original background until maybe 2 or 3 years later. Before then, it was just the blue sky and Io's landscape.
Fun fact: The dialogue in the Red War (and I think all the other DLCs but I could be wrong, I don't play on my Veteran account anymore) was different if you had played Destiny 1 on the same account and character. At the start when Shaxx opens the door to the armory for you in the tower, if you had played Rise of Iron in Destiny 1, he calls you "Saladin's Young Wolf" And when you're on Io and see the taken, your Ghost knows what it is instead of saying he doesn't know what the rifts are. Those are the examples I can remember offhand, but there are definitely more! Pretty neat attention to detail.
Really funny when they talk about the mission where the captain gives the guardian the reactor, and they say, "the enemie of my enemie is my friend" thats literally the name of the mission where that happens. I dont know if they know but thats just perfect
You actually get to see somewhat of a nightmare ghost version of Ghaul and learn more about him and past in a the later seasons. Made me happy because i felt like he was underused in the red war.
I always forget that despite the game having quite a few flaws at its launch, the story wasn't one of them. I'm also super happy to see you react to the raid, though it would've been great for you two to see the scene that follows the defeat of Emperor Calus, as it explains the reason why you see him as a robot at the end of his fight. One more thing, the Fallen Captain on Titan that let us have the methane reactor is called Mithrax, and he'll be quite important. Anyway, loved your reactions, as always, can't wait to see more! (Also Awoken Amethyst, let's go!!!!!)
SO late watching these for the first time but it's amazing to see this story again after so long! Fun fact for meeting Shaxx at the armory for the first time at 5:48, if you imported your character from Destiny 1, Shaxx refers to you as "Saladin's Young Wolf" in memory of the Rise of Iron DLC back in the first game. Incredible throwback to a title the player could earn that is mostly forgotten by the current players. So glad you guys have fallen in love with this story and can't wait for you to see what comes next after Forsaken! There's a lot of dialogue in the Red War campaign that can change depending on what your character already knows about the history of Destiny.
I've been waiting for this beginning of your guys destiny 2 reactions. You're gonna love all the DLC's and season cinematics this game offers. Can't wait to see it, because the "Red War" was probably one of if not the best pieces of story and cinematic creation for this game.
10:29 Fun fact, there was two of those arms you had to dodge that would go in opposite directions, but one was taken out of the final game. Also on 10:46 I did make a *Destiny x Full Metal Jacket* parody I called Full Metal Destiny 2 where that Die Hard villain sounding voice is replaced with Gunnery Sargent Hartman' lines a while back. At the end is the Arrival of the Evil Doritos Fleet.
It's kinda funny. Your reaction to Asher's attitude and "Assistant" name calling was very similar to ours, now it's kinda heartwarming given the development of the story throughout the seasonal content and major DLC stories. I hope you guys will continue to watch the whole line of different seasons, lore bits, raid dialogue, all of it that leads up to the current season. Plus there is a Final Shape teaser out now, but I highly recommend not watching it until you finish the whole lineup. It makes the teaser hit that much harder.
36:00 What's interesting about "the Light" is that while it's typically portrayed as a positive force, there are plenty of Guardians throughout their history who have done "bad deeds" with the Light. It ultimately is a tool that can be used to whatever ends the user so desires. So, while your metaphor somewhat applies here, it's interesting that it also somewhat does not.
Put some respect on my man Asher's name! Man's more cantankerous and irritable than most jaded grandfathers, but he got some respectable feats under his belt.
I'm still in the first 8 minutes of the video but yes, Ikora is legendary, she has NEVER lost in the Crucible (the guardian vs guardian trainings) and is one of the few guardians ever seen using more than one subclass at the time, she even caused so much damage in her fight with Lord Shaxx (if I'm not mistaken) that he never fully recovered from it. THAT WOMAN IS A BEAST
8:14 She is, before being a "Vanguard" Ikore used to weild a shot a lot within the Crucible/Multi-player. Sure charging in alot probably got her killed but with the light she would always be back loud and nightmare for other Guardains that participated in the Curcible.
The hawk in the cutscene right after ghoul takes the light is actually the form the traveler takes when it is showing you something. The traveler is currently showing you a vision on how to regain your connection to the light.
Additional comment 2:31:16 This was a huge revelation back in the day, since the Speaker had essentially implied that they were privy to the Traveler's whims, hence why they held such a pivotal role in the City up to that point. So, the Speaker revealing that he had no idea what the Traveler wanted was akin to someone like the Pope revealing that he's basically been making it up as he goes along.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It was because of everything except the story. Performance issues, bugs, game breaking errors, crashes, broken loot tables causing the same item to drop instead of randomized items, a broken quest, a few REALLY bad graphical errors, serious network issues, the list goes on. There were... so... soooooo many issues on release. Oh and player vs player combat was really badly balanced at the time.
Thank you for this extended video on the destiny 2 story. Very much enjoyed playing through this. Great opener for destiny. And truly incredible reaction from you both. As always keep being phenomenal. Bethany's expressions when ken started singing sound garden was hilarious.
RIP Lance Reddick Amanda was in the D1 stuff you watched briefly. Like in the Taken King scene where Cayde sets up our stealth drive. I dunno if you watched the Zavala origin cinematic but she has a cameo as a child watching the celebrations of finishing the Tower and looking at the spaceship flybys.
Honestly, I absolutely love the question Destiny poses: with your last life, what will you do? With how Cayde-6 and Amanda go, it's the perfect contrast to the legacies they left behind, as both stare at death without hesitation or regret with their last light, in complete defiance of their human nature telling them to run. With the loss of Lance as well, I can only hope that Zavala can find peace as well, hopefully on the otherside with Hakkim, Sofia, Cayde-6, and Holiday in the light.
A lot of people rag on this campaign, I loved it. It was a fresh start after D1 not really having a campaign up until TTK, and even that wasn't anything compared to what they've done with D2. But one of the greatest lines in gaming comes when the captured Speaker is talking with Ghaul about sacrifice. I look forward to watching your reaction when I'm through with adult responsibilities today. 2:53:18 They actually did have a racing event in Destiny 1, but they have 0 plans to bring it to Destiny 2. Most of the fans have been asking for it to be a permanent fixture, or at least a yearly seasonal event, since they had the event in D1. But seeing as how that's about 8 years ago at this point, I'm afraid our pleas are falling on deaf ears. There's a really nice video by NovemberHotel -"Destiny 2 - What Happened to Sparrow Racing" if you want more info. But it basically just highlights the problem Bungie has had for years, they no longer make content for the players, they push content for investors.
46:44 HOLY CRAP IT'S "MYTHRAX THE FORSAKEN"!!! He's my favorite character, and I believe he'll be your favorite character also. Short story, as POW to the Reef Awoken, he had no choice but to work with Sjur Eido(one of Queen Mara's generals) to retake the Reef. On multiple occasions, he tried committing suicide but Eido was always there to save him. Eido's kindness to him is one of many reasons that the Mythrax(or Missracks in his native language) is inspired to assist the Guardians.
Wonderful reaction, I'm so glad to see your reactions to Destiny stuff! Also special shoutout to the fallen captain who gave us the reactor... you will eventually see more of him and I can't wait for that! ;)
Lance reddick was such a good voice actor he was there in the start as our commander and friend from destiny 1 to lightfall i hope he is resting in peace, will see you star side you glories bastard!!
You know, Its so sad new players cant experience that score when the guardians leaving The City to meet Hawthorne❤😭 it's so beautiful and really pulled me into the mood of the moment.. such great cut scenes and even missions, I was young and remade so many characters just to play the red war campaign over and over lol
Also a fun fact for Ikora since she is understandably a favorite :) There is a small piece of lore on one of the weapons in Destiny 2 that mentions a story where Ikora and Shaxx fought in the Crucible and she beat him so badly he couldn't sit well for weeks. Shaxx has been running things for hundreds of years and she walked in and reminded him why she's a Vanguard hahaha
I wish this guardian wasn't overleveled for this playthrough. Made the Gary fight more pathetic that it actually was. Gary using the different subclasses was cool. Blade barraging him and chunking him every phase took away from the cinematic experience of the encounter. This was the final boss, and this guy just used mountaintop recluse for the whole campaign. Kinda disappointing I loved the Red War arc, it was great seeing ya'lls reaction. Always love seeing others fall in love with destiny Gary=Ghaul
Little fun fact, Ghauls title "Dominus" is so rare that he is the only one to ever achieve that title, all other cabal have seen defeat but ghaul was so fearsome and so brutal, that not only had he never known defeat, he never left room for failure until the light, his obsession weakened his grip, if he werent obsessed with the traveler, the guardians would've been wiped out in little to no time at all. In the first month or so of the red war, over like 200,000 guardians died or somewhere around that number. Not to mention residuals from people that didnt know about the tower conflict and randomly lost their light.
Calus is an exiled emperor. He is alive at that point but has a deteriorating health condition. He uses those bots as a mode of communication. Ghaul and other high profile cabals overthrew his empire in an event called the "Midnight Coup".
If yall want snacks for your drinks with these longer vids, destiny has a cookbook that includes alot of the cookies you can bake in game for the christmas event
Super excited you guys. I clicked instantly. Your Destiny 2 journey is going to be leaps and bounds more mind blowing and overall informative and crazy than you guys realize. I'll say this. Remember what Calus said.
So in the end with the raid Emperor Calus sets up a gauntlet of challenges for the guardians to test their might against. The raid changes each week the order of challenges but they are as follows. First could be the royal baths (probably got that wrong) where you essentially have to destroy these sort of lamp like things and survive against the Royal Bathers. The next one could be the Gardens encounter. The Gardens encounter has you basically sneak around with 3 other guardians picking up a buff all the while you need to stay undetected from the bosses of this encounter. 2 others would then carry an item that allows the other 4 to grab the buff. You then have a limited time to kill all 6 of bosses and the music in this encounter acts as your indicator of when to return to the safe room before it wipes your team. The third possible encounter is the Gauntlet challenge. This one is a demanding puzzle. The gauntlet has you standing on some plates and then 2 players are running around this outer ring and must make it back into the arena. Those 2 players read these symbols in the outer ring and relay that to those on the plates. The ones on the plates have to shoot the right symbols on the outside to allows those in the outer ring to pass through a barrier. The final step after a few times of repeating this is everyone gets teleported into the outer ring and must make it back into the arena on a time limit to move on. The final encounter is always Calus himself but not exactly is it himself. You see Calus makes robots in his image and uses those to get guardians to his side by challenging them to take out this powerful robot and offers loot in return. He of course as you saw and heard has ominous messages when you defeat the robots. This is destiny 2s first raid and it is called The Leviathan. Up next is the Curse of Osiris DLC and boy its a doozy that one. Id like to also recommend reacting to the music for the gardens section. Its so good, heres a link to it th-cam.com/video/ECE7ZeDsuPk/w-d-xo.html
Oh it's nice to see you guys reach the Red War, it has one of my favorite villains for the way he manhandles all the guardians. Can't wait to see your reactions to the DLC's and seasons! And his voice line saying that we've simply forgotten the fear of death is so chilling, it makes me miss this campaign so dearly along side the soundtrack called Journey that plays during our first walk without the light After getting to the part where they kill the Knight instead of the Captain the Fallen does a pose with his swords which is a show of respect to the Eliksni if memory serves and speaking of Titan there was a satellite panel you could scan that said the colony of Titan had contact with the Borderlands company Hyperion
For me the most crazy part of destiny lore is that it takes place in our world. Our timeline with our physics and history. Not just a random fictional world. Our world in the future. Interesting setup that's for sure.
Glad that you’re continuing with Destiny. Trust me the story gets even better. Personally react to the cutscenes done by Gamer’s Little Playground because it’s consistent and the one your reacting to now has weapons and abilities you aren’t supposed to have till the next major part of the story “Forsaken”. Eventually you’ll have to react to the seasons inbetween some of them are important cutscene wise. Some pertaining to that fleet at the end.
The Red War had a great start, but unfortunately the rest of the story was very underwhelming. I wish they went the route where Ghaul took the light early and gave it to his army. The light wouldn’t give them powers like the guardians but it would make them stronger and they’d have new weapons that used the light. It just seemed really pointless for Ghaul to cut off the Traveler to just sit there and talk to it. I wish they used the farm as the main hub too. Instead of abandoning and forgetting about it
It kinda sucks Ghul was found by his mentor, because I feel like honestly. If he was found by the guardians, he would actually be a good guardian. You can tell after a while he was trying to understand, there was a little bit of honor in him.
Great to finally see you entering into Destiny 2. few things to note This recording was done shortly before the Beyond Light expansion, so there are a few world events active that technically weren't there during the game launch. As well as a few changes to the world over all. hopefully you guys have a good source for the next few expansions, narratively speaking...the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions are...kind of weak. Year 2 during the Forsaken expansion is when things kick off, that was the introduction of the true seasonal model - which there were actually story elements to each season. Not sure if Gamer's Little Playground did videos for those, but honestly you might want to look and see if MyNameIsByf did videos for the seasons. although, someone can correct me if im wrong but i dont think the seasonal stories actually made much of a narrative impact until Year 3, after Shadowkeep, that is when the seasonal stories started tying into the main story itself (its also when i personally got back into destiny 2, having skipped all of year 2 stuff). Hopefully discord has helped you guys locate videos for all the seasonal stuff (there are actual important story elements at the end of year 3 and year 4 onward) Edit: long post getting longer Regarding Emperor Calus- to that part was from the Raid that came with launch, Calus becomes MUCH MUCH more important later. Without spoiling anything though this is why i personally feel it is really important to get full story context starting from Shadowkeep onawrd- most especially concerning Savathun (whom has been referenced a few times) and Emperor Calus (whom you've now been introduced to) :)
It’s so cool to see you guys use your drinks to match your video really cool if you guys and shows how much love you put into your vids. We appreciate you guys 😊
It's important to remember that the giant pyramid ship doesn't originally exist at the time of the Red War. This is a time when the story of the Red war is free: that's why the Pyramid is there.
2:31:31 Yeah, in reality, the "Speaker" is just a prophet out in the Wilds there just to give hope, not a tool for a God. The Traveler may be a God, but it belongs and bows to no one, not even Humanity and certainly not the Cabal.

😎🤟
RIP Lance Reddick (Zavala's voice actor). You will be sorely missed.
He was a very entertaining villain 😈
Also 5:46 - 5:50; Shaxx told the Guardian, "Over here Hunter." That shows that they are playing a New Light (aka they didn't play Destiny 1) otherwise Shaxx would have said something like: "Ah Saladin's Young Wolf."
No he only said that if you beat rise of iron, not just played d1
@@colnz1233 Does he say something else if you played the other dlcs?
@@deangeloellis729I never knew that about Eido

Second to how’s your sister.
@@ToxicVex267definitely takes the top spot. Seconds from death and that was his final words
i real love Ghaul, he is simply an amazing villian. the writing to him was great, and how he would rather be chosen than take by force. just a great level of writing.
Agreed 🤩😈
Good old Gary
3:04:27 Weird that video didn't show literally next room, where we can see rows of same robot bodies, which Calus using for his "games"
Ghaul's voice at 11:51 always gives me shivers.
He always just sounded threatening. Never did you hear a single bit of fear in his voice.
The amount of nostalgia that's hitting me, it hurts that we lost all of this. I really genuinely miss all of this
So odd they get ride of quests and new players can’t get to play it. Or that veteran players get to relive it 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It hurts, but it's also super understandable why they cut the game down in size.
Wow, 3 hours you guys. You’re incredible, thank you so much for the entertaining content you create.
Our pleasure! We couldn’t do it all at once but splitting it up into chunks gives us time to discuss 🙂

Unfortunately, your rage will be worse because, for some reason, Asher went into the Pyramidion and jumped into the VEX lake and became a VEX himself to win against a Hive contingent.
Mercury (Curse of Osiris)
Mars (Warmind)
The Reef (Forsaken)
Heck yeah!!! So excited, thanks guys for sticking with it!
Still feels weird hearing any voice lines, new or old of Zavala now that Lance has passed away.
1:39:54
Please note that the black triangle thing in the background wasn't a part of the original background until maybe 2 or 3 years later. Before then, it was just the blue sky and Io's landscape.
You're finally here, Guardians. Welcome to the adventure. You've still got a while till you're caught up, but we're glad you're here.
Yup this was a big chunk. The next ones seem to be smaller at around 45 minutes or so 😅
Fun fact: The dialogue in the Red War (and I think all the other DLCs but I could be wrong, I don't play on my Veteran account anymore) was different if you had played Destiny 1 on the same account and character.
At the start when Shaxx opens the door to the armory for you in the tower, if you had played Rise of Iron in Destiny 1, he calls you "Saladin's Young Wolf"
And when you're on Io and see the taken, your Ghost knows what it is instead of saying he doesn't know what the rifts are.
Who knew that captain would show up later in fact I had no idea that was Mithrax.
48:55. Remember this, Mithrax the Eliksni Captain is VERY important.
Love my man Asher Myr probably my personal favorite planetary character from original D2
Not to mention her super has no cooldowns. She used a nova bomb and in only a few second used nova warp this women’s insane.
11:52 Ghaul was so fu*king badass shame most new players today never witnessed his story
Very cool villain 😈
8:14
She is, before being a "Vanguard" Ikore used to weild a shot a lot within the Crucible/Multi-player. Sure charging in alot probably got her killed but with the light she would always be back loud and nightmare for other Guardains that participated in the Curcible.
She actually never was killed or bested in the crucible. She is flawless all the way through. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
The hawk in the cutscene right after ghoul takes the light is actually the form the traveler takes when it is showing you something. The traveler is currently showing you a vision on how to regain your connection to the light.
Additional comment
2:31:16 This was a huge revelation back in the day, since the Speaker had essentially implied that they were privy to the Traveler's whims, hence why they held such a pivotal role in the City up to that point. So, the Speaker revealing that he had no idea what the Traveler wanted was akin to someone like the Pope revealing that he's basically been making it up as he goes along.
1:40:10 I saw that Bethany. 😂🤣
I hope you guys find the time and eventually react to the other Destiny 2 campaigns. ✌️😁
WOAH wasnt expecting this. Red War is an EXTREMELY underrated campaign imo. Absolutely loved playing it
Curious as to why it was so underrated. It’s one of our favorites we’ve seen 🤩
RIP Lance Reddick
Amanda was in the D1 stuff you watched briefly. Like in the Taken King scene where Cayde sets up our stealth drive. I dunno if you watched the Zavala origin cinematic but she has a cameo as a child watching the celebrations of finishing the Tower and looking at the spaceship flybys.
That rat king's crewis an exotic quest, my name is byf has amazing videos on each exotic weapon. ❤
46:44
HOLY CRAP IT'S "MYTHRAX THE FORSAKEN"!!!
Eido's kindness to him is one of many reasons that the Mythrax(or Missracks in his native language) is inspired to assist the Guardians.
are you guys going to do the season stories as well since they connect to the expansions?
Those Pyramid ships in that final cutscene sort of act like envoys of The Darkness, the antithesis to The Traveler and it's Light.
Dooku Voice: "I've been looking forward to this."
You know, Its so sad new players cant experience that score when the guardians leaving The City to meet Hawthorne❤😭 it's so beautiful and really pulled me into the mood of the moment.. such great cut scenes and even missions, I was young and remade so many characters just to play the red war campaign over and over lol
I remember I’d replay the story cause I was rocking a new look and I wanted to see it in cutscene.
Man seeing this brings me back to the good old days, it was so simple back then
The first time hearing "Journey " while walking through the wreckage was something else
looking back, the fact Bungie had Misraaks set up all the way back in the red war, a good few years before we even meet him is honestly amazing
Also a fun fact for Ikora since she is understandably a favorite :)
There is a small piece of lore on one of the weapons in Destiny 2 that mentions a story where Ikora and Shaxx fought in the Crucible and she beat him so badly he couldn't sit well for weeks. Shaxx has been running things for hundreds of years and she walked in and reminded him why she's a Vanguard hahaha
You’re very right about Asher. It doesn’t help that the Vex radiolarian fluid is basically constantly torturing him. But yes he is very irritating
Kinda disappointing
I loved the Red War arc, it was great seeing ya'lls reaction.
Always love seeing others fall in love with destiny
Gary=Ghaul
Eyes up guardian! I love how he did the outbreak perfected choice to not kill the captain. He has a pretty sweet set of weapons too
Little fun fact, Ghauls title "Dominus" is so rare that he is the only one to ever achieve that title, all other cabal have seen defeat but ghaul was so fearsome and so brutal, that not only had he never known defeat, he never left room for failure until the light, his obsession weakened his grip, if he werent obsessed with the traveler, the guardians would've been wiped out in little to no time at all.
31:06 If I'm not mistaken, Titan's oceans are methane.
Remember what Calus said.
asher mir is actually really cool, hes also super strong and smart as he took on like a whole network of vex and uses them.
These two are such Titans. Especially Ken!
12:57 oh hey the piramid fleet, how crazy
i love that you can tell that this player is not a d1 vet cause of some of the different voince lines its weird to not hear the vetran voice lines
Journey playing right at the beginning -chef's kiss-😘
The Emperor Calus stuff at the end there is in the raid, just for reference!
26:55
I think Suraya is a name of a Constellation
Hadn't played The Red War, but glad I got to kinda experience it with you two. Much love, enjoy your weekend.
Oh it's nice to see you guys reach the Red War, it has one of my favorite villains for the way he manhandles all the guardians. Can't wait to see your reactions to the DLC's and seasons!
And his voice line saying that we've simply forgotten the fear of death is so chilling, it makes me miss this campaign so dearly along side the soundtrack called Journey that plays during our first walk without the light
After getting to the part where they kill the Knight instead of the Captain the Fallen does a pose with his swords which is a show of respect to the Eliksni if memory serves and speaking of Titan there was a satellite panel you could scan that said the colony of Titan had contact with the Borderlands company Hyperion
Instead of abandoning and forgetting about it
"A weapon to destroy the world is ridiculous"
Tell that to the Project Sundial.
My favorite part of Titan is the GIGANTIC worm thing under the water that swims past the observatory in one of the Dark Sectors (I forgot which one)
This is actually when I began playing Destiny, it was so good!
It kinda sucks Ghul was found by his mentor, because I feel like honestly. If he was found by the guardians, he would actually be a good guardian. You can tell after a while he was trying to understand, there was a little bit of honor in him.
I'm so glad you're back to Destiny 2 ! Hope you have Fun Ken and Bethany with your continuation in the Destiny universe !
Ah yes, I remember how I felt upon seeing the ancient, evil Space Doritos the first time.
By watching the red war video. Who is your guys favorite character?
Great to finally see you entering into Destiny 2. few things to note
This recording was done shortly before the Beyond Light expansion, so there are a few world events active that technically weren't there during the game launch.
Hopefully discord has helped you guys locate videos for all the seasonal stuff (there are actual important story elements at the end of year 3 and year 4 onward)
Edit: long post getting longer
Regarding Emperor Calus- to that part was from the Raid that came with launch, Calus becomes MUCH MUCH more important later. Without spoiling anything though this is why i personally feel it is really important to get full story context starting from Shadowkeep onawrd- most especially concerning Savathun (whom has been referenced a few times) and Emperor Calus (whom you've now been introduced to) :)
I won’t lie, The Ghost Primus (Ghaul) sure knows how to make an entrance
I really miss playing The Red War campaign and listening to the beautiful and awesome soundtrack
Man, this is giving me flashbacks, I've missed old expansion for Destiny 2.

Yeah, in reality, the "Speaker" is just a prophet out in the Wilds there just to give hope, not a tool for a God.
The Traveler may be a God, but it belongs and bows to no one, not even Humanity and certainly not the Cabal.
It took a few years, but Asher grew on you. He grew on you like a strangling, thorny vine, at times made you laugh at his mannerisms.
