Disk locks don’t do anything when they just pry the latch off… how do you safeguard against that?

Its a terrible thing when you are paying to store your property safely and are being robbed of it and it is totally disregarded by the employees of the business, I would think but I am in no way at all sure how this works but the amount of money you pay them monthly for your unit should carry insurance to cover your belongings in the event of something like this happening or even worse, (what if a fire broke out and went through you would lose everything you own, starting over is hard i started over 3 times with my kids and then after 24 years of a living h*** I left my home again because that was the only way to get away and I started over again living with friend here and there, will be starting over for the last time as soon as i can find a home and again i will need to start from the bottom up. I know those who was responsable for holding/taking my property and its difficult because they were close to me. I hope this isnt the case for you. Trust is a very difficult thing to build back up and sometimes you dont even want to.

It'd be loud for a couple of seconds, but a grinder can cut the aluminum door & latch used by the lock to pull it out of the way more easily than trying to cut the lock itself.

A portable plasma cutter make less sound and will do good as well.

My lock 🔐 is small and very effective. The thieves broke the storage unit door latch bypassing the lock. How do you safeguard that?

@haseeb2167 an abus 83cs/55 (hardened steel body) costs about 60 bucks, thats unless you order it with the protec2 core from abloy which costs so much more.. what i did was order a cheaper lock (100 dollars) with the abloy core. And the abus 83cs/55 lock and switched out the core. This saved me 100 dollars.

You can't. You can't put measures that will maybe help catch like yes installing an alarm or a GPS tracker on the most expensive items. You really think that no one can break in a storage unit your blind. Now if it keeps getting hit either inside job ,plus they have insurance which they force you get then they don't want to pay makes no sense.

Hire an out of work friend or family member to sit in a folding chair in front of the storage unit, armed with a baseball bat (or “better”), for 6 to 8 hours a day, at $50-$80 a day, 3 to 4 days a week. 😜

As s former self storage manager, I'm telling you all,.this business takes your money. Do the math and don't rent storage. You would be better off donating your items to the homeless instead of paying more to store than what the items are worth..

Don't know about you.... but I'm not donating my 70" TV and living room furniture to the homeless when I'm in the process of moving. And yes, I had to keep it in storage as I didn't yet have a new place to live.

Preaching to the choir, I've spent more on storage in the last 3 years than what the stuff is worth, can't get at it easily so don't really use the stuff

wire mesh ontop is ridiculous. why would any storage company put wire mesh ontop and apparently alot do. Then dont even need to pick the log just jimmy the side open as it rips right out. for the money ppl pay at storage units the units themselves are a joke
