- Meat rabbits can reach sexual maturity very young but it is best to wait until they get to their full adult weight before breeding them. For most meat rabbit breeds that is going to be about 6 months old.

Thanks so much for this video. I have a Californian doe and a New Zealand/Cali cross buck. They are 4 months old. I have heard so much different information on when to breed them, anywhere from 4 months to 12 months. Your video really cleared things up for me. Thanks again.

One thing with the big breeds like flemish giants is pepole have a tendensy to break them to erly they get fysikaly mature around 8 months but if you wait a little longer the chanse to get a big and good litter gets higher i bred my flemish around 8 months in the beginning but have stopped with that and now waits untill they get to 10 or 11 months. Havent lost a first litter after that.. they get emotially mature quite late. And if you mess them up in the beginning with a unexperanced male you will have hell to break them after that...at least that is my and my freinds experiance with flemish and flemish crosses. But they give large and healthy litters

Mini Rex buck about 5/6 months old?
i have 3 rabbit and my 2 female rabbit is only 1and half months old and the male was 6months old i feel sad to keep in a cage for too long i give them litter time too play together and they accidently hat 1 success breeding to etch can they get pregnant or not i'm so worried if they are pregnant then will we so litter to be a mom
My American whites looked ready to breed at 4 months old as far as weight but he wanted to smell her and fight. They will be 6 months old towards the end of this month. I'll try him with my older doe. I'm afraid he will scare and scar my young doe.
Question: how long to keep breeding before they're retired.
This is end of our 3rd season and production is as good as it ever was. I'm thinking of holding back some females from the best litters of the first breeding cycle come Spring. By the end of their 4th breeding season next Fall their replacements will be ready.

I am sorry to hear that. I would give her about 2 weeks to heal up and then go ahead and breed her. you could probably do it a little sooner but i wouldn't go less than a week after she gave birth. I hope that helps.
at 6 months old, they are still juniors... I rather breed them at 9 months as adults and have almost no chance of them losing their litter or having uterin scaring.

Hey please respond to this!!!! I just had 2 litters of bunny’s. One rabbit had 6 the other had 2 but one died. We are scared that one might not make it because he or she doesn’t have anyone else to warm him or her up. Can we put them all together or will that put her at a high risk? Please respond. We are also concerned because our rabbit that had the one is not taking care of her rabbit. We are pretty scared. Please comment back!!
It is probably a good idea to try and move the one baby into the nest with the other 6. The mother should take to it just fine. You don't want to put the adults together though. You should pick one of them to foster the other's babies. As far as them not taking care of them, they most likely are it just doesn't appear that way. Rabbits don't pay much attention to their babies unless they are feeding and they tend to do that only when no one is around to see.
I have a New Zealand White Buck that is 3.5kgs, 5 months old. I want to use it to breed a slightly older doe, can I do this ? Is a buck's sperm fertile at 5 months old ?
It should be ok. Nothing bad will happen so it doesn't hurt to just go ahead and try.
Hey what's causes your rabbit to not make babies after she breed
If you have three successful fall offs but there aren’t any kits 30-32 days later than there could be a few things wrong.
1. They did not breed correctly
2. The doe is infertile
3. The buck is infertile
You should try the doe with another buck if you can (make sure you have 3 successful fall offs) and try the buck with a different doe.

What’s the rule on breeding with old rabbits?
There is no rule really. if they are too old they either won't breed or won't have good litters (small litter counts and not take care of them). I would just try and see what kind of results you get.

My doe gave birth to 16 kits on here first time mom and the second time she gave 3 should I be worried
Probably not. I would see how she does with future litters. If you are consistently getting small litters (after 2 or 3 more attempts) then I would look to replace her. I bet she does much better with the next litter though.

You could breed a dog at 6 months old too doesn't mean it's right. I mean damn I could get prego at 12... I know they are meat bunnies, so you're not trying to give them a lengthy existence but for the lion head and other pet bunnies out there wait til they are at least a year old, Bunnies can live 10 years so 6 months is just a baby. I enjoy your videos not being a hatter I just love bunnies 🐰
Rabbits mature at a lot different rates than humans or dogs. If you wait too long than a rabbits will not conceive that is why you have to breed at a “young” age, or rather once they are full grown which for a breed like this is around 6-8 months. I personally wouldn’t do it at 6 and wait till 8 months because some rabbits will still be growing, however that depends on the genetics and feedings.
