    Spot on. To be a real G80 "Sport" needs:
    1. Sport seats with more bolstering
    2. Meaner exhaust- exhaust valves like the G70 3.3T - and please quad tips to differentiate
    3. Some added power. Can we squeeze 400+ HP? The old 5.0 had 429hp...just saying.
    4. Twin piston rear calipers
    5. Fly by wire gated shifter
    Add these and will have a true Sport package. Doesn't have to be an N but make it a jump.people want to take! I WOULD.

    The one thing I would add to the wishlist is a more powerful engine tune, which is what this car was rumored to have but that didn't pan out. For a sport model, you would think it would be faster than the original. The G80 is so much larger and heavier than the German rivals that it needs that extra power just to keep up. There's rumors that the next G90 will have a more powerful mild hybrid version of this V6- if that's true, it definitely needs to go in this G80 when it's refreshed.

    • @aurorajones8481
      @aurorajones8481 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just tune it yourself. Bring it to a tuner. Its good to do this locally as it tunes the car to your local in elevation and what not.

    • @panzer_TZ
      @panzer_TZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      At this point though, who really gives a shit about a faster 0-60? A family friend let me test drive her 2.5T G80 and it felt very quick already. Even if the German rival is faster, I would still pick the G80 for the whole package, and it's not even just about the better price.

    As long as Genesis leaves the G90 alone (in terms of a soft, comfortable, cushy ride), then I suppose I'm fine with the G80 being dialed up to a Sport level. I just don't want Genesis to fall into the same trap that Lexus did by tuning their entire car lineup to compete with the Germans just because a few reviewers complained about handling limitations that most people never encounter outside of a slalom or a day at the track - i.e., repetitive hard cornering and braking in high-speed situations.
    I'm no old man, but I am past my boy-racer days. I absolutely CHERISH being wafted down the road effortlessly over the potholes and expansion joints - not feeling every single pebble my Michelins run over. As much as some people clamor for tight, responsive handling, there is high value in a soft, luxurious ride too. It may not be everybody's cup of tea, but it will also never go out of style. I just hope Genesis keeps this in mind. We already know that the Germans won't give us that - so we need to be able to get it from someone.
    Heck, even Cadillac (the very namesake of the soft, cushy ride) has veered away from what made it a household name.

    Love what they’re doing. Love an underdog upstart. Only thing they need to deal with is the lousy fuel economy. I blame the 3.5L whereas the Europeans do 3.0L sixes. I’ve seen 34MPG highway on A6s

    Very nice car, but Hiunday made a HUGE mistake in Europe with it.
    They do not offer a diesel with 2.0 or less displacement (they have 2.2L) - this means that the car will be much more expensive, bc of higher tax.
    Dear Hiunday, each and every european manufacturer always offer a 2.0 class engine, for a good reason.

    Good review. I'm glad to see someone review this trim. I do wish you had compared it more to the previous 3.3T Sport a bit. That car was a big step forward for the G80 in my books. This seems to be an evolution of the idea, at least. In both generations, the Sport trim solved some issues that people had with the other trims.

      It was Polo Green with Roman Brown leather ..
      2.5 L V6 Mitsubishi on a Galant chassis ..
      Infinity stereo ..
      2 door, but a full back seat for 3 adults ..
      It was one of kind at that time ..
      It was a 3 year lease, and followed that one with a '99 ..
      Shark blue with a light gray leather .. (less impressive interior)
      Different grill and wheels but pretty much the same from there ..
      After 2000, it started going downhill when they made it a 4 door ..

    why did you not show the features you get with the car ? I have looked at the A6, 540i, E and non of them has the features at the price the Genesis is selling for. this car for price and package I say in the best on the luxury market. We all like what we like but if we are going to put aside biases this car is the best in class...Check it out if you are shopping in this segment. No I am not a promotor are anything like that. I personally own the 2016 g 80 AWD fully loaded which i got in 2019, and listen it's surpassed my 2003 s 500 which I owned for 12 yrs. I was looking to buy another s but after driving the Genesis and seeing the features I got at the price point, yes got the g 80. It's a great car. IJS

    I was looking forward to an upgrade in the Horsepower being a sport, I'm very disappointed......There needs to be a difference in the engine for a sport trim when you are in this luxury class. Everyone else does it, Genesis did it in the last generation for the G80, which I personally have. Having that twin turbo in the sport made a true difference compared to the other trims. Now they are just like Lexus and their stupid F Line. Calling a car sport only because of exterior differences does not make a car a true sports car when comparing to the other trims. Cmon Genesis! I thought you were better than this!? Last but not least Add a upgraded exhaust already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A modern day Korean Buick by any other name. Mercedes E Class and M550i are not sweating it. It's the EVs they're worried about, hence their own EV versions of E class and 5 series.

    • @gedaman
      @gedaman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would call Genesis more of a Korean Infiniti and Acura a Japanese Buick. I doubt the Germans are sweating about Genesis the same way they were concerned about Lexus in the 1990s. Genesis plays in a niche luxury field I believe and they’re doing very well it seems. In ten years when most vehicles will be electric maybe things will be much different for the Genesis brand.

      @@gedaman Genesis may not have those blistering fast V8 engines like their German rivals, but they aren't worried about the Japanese, nor are they pursuing competition with the Japanese. Not to mention comparing Genesis to Infiniti or Buick is quite disrespectful. The G80's interior alone is far nicer than anything either of those manufacturers make, it also looks better on the outside.

    I am a huge Genesis fan, however for this being the sport model I do feel they did not change the exterior & interior appearance enough to support it being the “sport” model. Seems like they just changed the wheels.
    Genesis needs to branch off full sport models with a specific name similar to AMG or BMW M. For one of the simple reasons that it’s such a popular segment nowadays and shoppers are willing to pay the premium for the top of the line performance model.
