Those large designer 'LUXURY' brands and high priced restaurants, would love for us to think that the price tag is worth the product. But is it? Is it a lie? How much is the mark up and is it actually extortion? Is it all just a brilliant marketing strategy. I heard of a restaurant once, for instance that charged £1,500 for a gold flecked burger? In this video, I discuss whether the idea of luxury and luxury items are a lie. Moreover, whether that lie is keeping you poor. Whether the items are actually worth it, in terms of quality and value. Then finally what luxury is to me in my minimalist lifestyle. Which I believe is minimalist luxury, but not being a luxury minimalist. Whilst cutting down on the amount of items as a 'luxury' minimalist, may be better than excess - each to their own. My personal opinion is that many of the products marketed as 'luxury' are in reality, not of better quality than some mediocre products. Luxury to me is handmade, skilled craftmanship. Furthermore, luxury to me may also be something that may make my life easier in some way or save me time, or further pay outs.A true investment that is a luxury to afford. But not priced at a rate of extortion to elude to status.
Thank you for acknowledging that time-saving is a luxury. 🙏🙏 Fr as someone with a chronic illness (and loses hours of productivity hours on fatigue) it truly is valuable. Also, I never mind going to the cinema alone either ❤
I loved this video. I think that luxury to me is being able to afford decent good quality health foods like fresh fruit and vegetables. I also really appreciate good quality bed sheets and a comfortable bed. I love having a garden and being able to afford to keep pets and feed the birds. It really puts things into perspective when I consider how fortunate I am to afford these things. Thank you for such a thought provoking video ❤
Oh lovely, yes nice bed sheets are wonderful. So true with the fruits and vegetables too. Yes ahhh a garden 🤩 I can’t wait to eventually have a garden and a dog 🐾 😊 ❤️
This video is necessary and a very good reminder for everyday life. 👏🏻 For me luxury is being able to buy brand food that I like sometimes, or to go to physiotherapist, osteopath, this kind of doctor because in France is a luxury to have a good medical care that I suppose is not the same in other countries. Also right for what you said about water 💦🙌🏻 I agree with AirPods too 🙈!! Your scarf is beautiful! 🫶🏻 Have a good day Lydia ♥️
Oh brand foods - that is a good one 🙌 yes in England although some physio is free not all. Also our public dentists are in many areas terrible. They also try to save money and cut corners not always giving patients the best dental care and advice. For this reason I always pay for private dental care 🦷 which I know is a luxury 😊 🪥 Have a good day too ❤️ Thank you ☺️
Knowing what feels like a luxury to you, is indeed the best, as it allows to lighten up the day in meaningful personal ways; I personnally always prefer good casual korean or japanese restaurants best to any luxury restaurant and when I shop, I never buy polyester fabric as it never feels like quality or luxury to me, no matter the brand. Also, handcrafted items do indeed feels like luxury to me too :)
I know what you mean with the food. There is this place quite near us that is a humble little Vietnamese 🇻🇳 place. But so much care goes in to the food. Along with quality ingredients. That you can taste it. Not expensive. The luxury is the care that has been put into it and the talent of the chef. 🧑🍳 I also enjoy it more for its laid back homely atmosphere 🍜
Thanks Lydia 🎉This video is spot on. Having the perspective to even choose what is or isn't luxury is ,in itself, a luxury. I personally take into consideration the things that are priceless luxuries as well.
I have 5 different perfumes that I absolutely love. I love having variety depending on my mood. I feel refreshed and put together from a spritz of my favourite perfume. Wonderstruck is my favourite. I've never paid more than $50 for a perfume. Fantastic video as always! 😊
My luxury item is my handmade pottery coffee mug I purchased years ago from a pottery a few miles from my house it is the only mug I have I love the way it feels in my hand and it is used multiple times a day. Time is my other most precious luxury now that I am retired I have the time to do what ever I want. Finally my last luxury is my cat having any pet in Canada has become unaffordable and I consider my little cat a luxury vet bills here are outrageous and one bag of food for my little friend now costs me 108$

I have a similar problem with deodorants and have found that those with AHA or lactic acid work much better. A real game changer.
Oh thank you. I’ll look into that 😊
Love this topic. I love my orange roller perfume from Nest, a hot bath, nice ground coffee, a candle in the winter, the fun of choosing a new book
Thank you ☺️ lovely 🍊 🛁 ☕️ 🕯️ 📖 😊

They are lovely. Yes that cat food 🐈 is very expensive I had no idea that is what it costs in Canada 🇨🇦 😮
Great video
Thank You ☺️
Amazing video as always
Thank you ☺️ 🎥 🎬
Lydia, this perfume is from L'Occitane? What's the name of this vanilla scent?
The one I have in my hand is lush Vanillary. But L’Occitane also do one with vanilla called Vanille & Narcisse. Both beautiful 🌺
Hi would you do a haïr care routine, I love your hairstyle❤
Thank You ☺️ I will but it will be a rather short video as I don’t do much 😊 ❤️
