Hi
Wow this has always helped me when I was stuck. Thank you for this video
When I practiced songs in grade 6 (which I passed), I really liked “Opening Night Jazz” by Martha Mier, But for some reason I just couldn’t get the rhythm right. It was super difficult. So my teacher said I should choose a different song for List C. Now I am so glad that I changed my song for List C because I would have never passed my Grade 6 test. Thanks to the VirUsS for making the test not in-person or else I probably would have failed. I had to take the video over and over again bc of the recorder aka my mom. She forced me to lol. She did that bc she said she needed the most perfect video, although I thought the videos we took sounded exactly the same! Lol (again). Btw I feel like this song (“Pink Minor”) is a slightly easier than “Opening Night Jazz” bc it is in A minor which has no sharps or flats, basically no key signature. While “Opening Night Jazz” has one sharp which means the it’s in G Major. “Opening Night Jazz” also has a harder Jazz rhythm to perfect. Btw, I’m literally reading this long comment by myself and I think it’s the longest story I’ve ever told lol (for the third time).
Lol 😂
Same, I also choose opening night jazz, it was kind of hard...😅
Woah same I choose opening night jazz for my exam too!
I chose OPNJ and ,for me, it was quite easy. This was prob because I chose Jazz music for my last 2 exams (I did Grade 2 in 2018 and Grade 5 in 2019 and then took 3/4 year off because of Covid) and they both had a certain 'swing' to it. If you try this type of music more often then you will eventually get the hang of it. Also, I prefer music with a swing because it gives me more of an excuse to not practice my rhythm clapping and just go wild with my music.
I found that Opening Night Jazz was super easy and I have no idea why I’m usually pretty useless. (It took me a few hours to learn). So now I’m trying this as I need a challenge so hopefully this isn’t too bad. Wish me luck!
The ABRSM JAZZ jongs are always fabulous. In Grade 6 I chose Opening Night Jazz and now have chosen Pink Minor. The only problem is as I am 8 it is quite hard for me to do The octaves.
You are doing so incredibly well to be playing the piano at this level and at such a young age Liliana🤩... well done and good luck!! 😁👍
Impressive 👏👏

ugh i love this piece so much but my hands are too small for a lot of the chords so my teacher told me to learn another one
yeah my piano teacher said a person that hands that span 7 notes did this piece. Definitely possible :)
So I’m gonna choose this piece for my grade 7 exam next year lol. My teacher said that there is a lot of repeats for the right hand 🤚 and now I know that he was right. So thx Master Keyz 😄

did you learn it quite quickly? i have less than a month before my exam and still have to learn a few parts in this piece
@@rinaiku4132 Most of the song is quite repetitive, so I would say the hardest part is the top of page 4, and the triplets during the middle section of page 3, it took me about a month to learn from very start to finish, you should be good!
I am 8 years old and I love this song so much.Especially when you plays it.
I am also playing this song for my grade 7

I wish I’m grade seven now 😔 What a beautiful song
I'm sure u will reach it soon :DD Just a few more practises and lessons, u will achieve what u want
@@TunaLunaaa yep
@Avery oh no now I'm not prepared
@Avery well my hands barely reach it. (I cant go any further, I did a octive gap and it's really hand stretching)
@Avery lol if u practice a lot (even if u have quite a small hand) then maybe u will reach it cuz my friend’s hand is much smaller than mine but she can reach 9th’s

Waring this song is not for people who has small hands like me. In the last page you have to play keys that are 9 keys apart! I’m not sure how I am suppose to manage it.😞
Hey on bars 59-62 I can’t reach any of the left hand notes, my exam is in 3 weeks and I really need some advice
Please reply asap
Thanks
Hi Yixuan, those 10th left hand intervals in bars 59 - 61 will be difficult for most people with normal-sized hands - but there is a solution! The problem can be approached in two different ways. OPTION 1 is to just simply play left hand octaves instead of 10ths in those bars... each octave can be played based on the bottom note, so the first left hand notes of bar 59 would be octave A, followed by octave G etc... the examiner should hopefully realise that playing such large shapes is virtually impossible if you can’t physically stretch the interval. At least by playing in octaves you can keep the rhythm flowing without too many problems and it’s the best compromise. OPTION 2 is to play the lowest left hand note first, followed quickly by the top note (the 10th) but this is harder to do and probably not worth trying unless you can already stretch slightly more than an octave already. If you practise just the left hand with that approach on its own - slowly - you may find that could work... or a combination of OPTION 1 and 2!! What’s your maximum stretch you can do? Can you reach an octave stretch?
is this the actual speed of the piece? or it's slower?
slower
👍🏻👍🏻I love this song and I pick this song for my piano exam.
Wonderful playing and presentation
How do you present it like this? That is the best presentation I have ever seen!
Great piano playing.
I love this jazz feel
I have been trying to choose between this and pop bossa all evening
I need help
Does anyone else have any preferences between them or something helpful so i can decide
Both?
Idk prob this

I can’t pick both because i have to pick one piece from each list, this is from list c and so it pop bossa
Absolute banger
i hear a lot of people say their hands are too small to play chords, im happy i dont have that problem. my fingers are literally longer than my piano teacher’s 😂
Happy new year!Wish you have more viewers subscribers and can play other instruments
Amazing 😆
is there a sheet music for this?
There are two options.. It’s available in the ABRSM Grade 7 piano exam book 2021-2022, along with the other exam pieces, or I believe this piece can also be found in the book: “Colour Suite” (of 1963) which is subtitled: “Five Rhythmic Studies for Piano” by Madeleine Dring.
My exam is in 1 month, any tips for this piece? Im really struggling 🥴
@S O U L T O R C H ty! My exam is tommorow I'm so nervous 😓😬😫
Hope you got a great grade man
does this song need a pedal?
不用
I already played this song for my exam, I’m trying to pass the theory XD and I’m already used to listening this song
I'm using this song for my exam, however I'm having difficulty in playing this piece for certain reasons. Firstly, I have a little difficulty in transitioning notes for my right hand in bar 25-28 and bar 59 as the song is kinda quick which results in me to keep playing the wrong notes. Secondly, there are a few notes that are far apart like from bar 27-28 that, again, results in me playing wrong notes and cause some strain to my hands. I really love this song and well...my exams are super near and I cannot do anymore changes. So well gl to me and will try my best. Good luck to those who's choosing this song too.💪💪😭(well I may be more luck since I'mma take my exam recorded and not physically. Otherwise I will flop big time. 😂
Congrats for surpassing 69,420 views!

Is this more easier than c2 ?
Yes
Depends. The notes are easier but the jazzy feeling is really hard
