    I used to do them by hand working from split lines to loop for fly fishing
    Like his better especially with drill. Thanks

    Sami, regarding the Twisty leader connecting to hollow core....could you whip a loop into your hollow core main line and connect the same way (via cat’s paw) like you would connecting to a traditional wind-on leader?
    Thanks Sami, can’t wait to try my new Monster Ledge 250 with a Siren 225 MXP on cape cod tuna

    I think on step2 you use paino line into the main line it will ok.
    Please tell me what your main line ? thank you

    If you have solid core line, how do you attach the twisty? Bimini on the solid, then catspaw? short length of hollow in between? ???

    At 21:30 I see a split ring and swivel. What knot do you use to tie into the swivel? From my experience, tying knots for large mono can be challenging. Also, from the my understanding from your post below, are you tying an albright knot to join the main line to hollow? Or can you create a wind on (twisted leader) to another wind on (main line)?

    i have a question' when inserting the needle into the main line and going through it for a few times.. this procedure doesn't weaken the main line ?

    • @samibluefin
      @samibluefin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi +Azmi Tannous
      No it does not weaken the line at all. in the contrary when running the hollow inside you're basically gaining more strength to the line.

    Very well explained…but the twisted leader sitting inside your guides- doesn't it get caught with the guides during casting? Even with the fancy fuji guides.
    thanks

    Hi Sammy, i have been using twisted leaders for around 5 years now. I do it a bit differently in the sense that the whole twisted leader is a lot longer. I usually make it the length of the popping rod that i use with a bearing swivel attached to the tag end of the twisted leader on to which the split ring and the lure is attached. The mainline braid is attached to the twisty via a Bimini twist and cats paw. We use long twisted leaders as the estuary and sea that we fish for GTs in can be as shallow as 2 to 3 meters and you cannot let a GT run more than a meter otherwise he is into the rocks and barnacles and will shear your braid and even the twisted leader.So we stop the GT as best we can and gradually drag it into deeper water. I have a question for you. Doesn't using a single strand bite leader defeat the purpose of using a twisted leader. Cheers! Owen

    You can use the twisty leader also in combination with solid braid (loop with bimini) or will the cats paw cut into the mono?

      Saltywater Tackle Fishing can you please elaborate abit more on the connection between the twisty and the braid. And what alternative connections can we use.
      Much appreciate it

    Very well done. I recommend people just bite the bullet with hollow core and buy a set of needles. It can be done this way for sure, but a reverse latch needle would take about 15 seconds to do that.

    Dear Sami,
    for the PE to Twisted leader loop connection, the cat's paw seems to be fine but i have some concerns with regards to the small length of PE spanning across (perpendicular to the line axis) the two portions of the leader line at the end of the connection itself. if this was to get damaged (on coral for instance), the entire connection would let go. Did you ever experience this before?

    there is a guy in australia making twisted leaders johnos crazy tail leaders they have four layers as the bite leader and loop conections to main line and cats paw to swivel and split ring a different way

    how would you connect the twisted leader to the braid if its not a hollow type? using a Bimini twist or similar, to get a loop in the braid?

    Wouldn't a Bimini twist be just as effective and a lot easier to tie? Also what is the advantage of hollow main line versus regular mono or braid?

    Why you need to make it twisted just use monofilament then fg knot. This is waste of time.

    The loop in the hollow is created incorrectly. It's not a matter of simply pulling in the hollow. It must be reversed creating a double wall. This is a common misconception. That loop will pull out with slack-then hard pressure when it's repeated.
    Check out bhptackle for instructions on properly creating a loop in hollow core spectra

    • @saltywatertackle7542
      @saltywatertackle7542 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jeffrey,
      Thank you for the respond,
      The loop might be created incorrectly to you and to others, we fished with our system leader for years with 0 failure and we landed fish up to 450lb with no failure and to some extended with locked drag, I believe in what I do and it is a proven fact in the field.
      I personally open the wind on server after 4 to 5 cast, so it doesn't serve me and serve the way i fish and the species i target.
      Concerning the loop i am aware of the double wall but I like to keep it simple...
      Tight lines

      Jeffrey,
      Not sure what your agenda is here but once the tag end is locked back into the main line the way he does it, the loop will absolutely not open. Anyone that's spent 10 minutes with hollow braid will recognize that.

    • @jeffreyconnolly7517
      @jeffreyconnolly7517 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No agenda here. What is your agenda?
      The simple creation of a loop has been standardized since the inception of hollow core line. Whatever works for salty water is their prerogative.
      If I did have an agenda its to share that the loop was being pulled incorrectly and that under inconsistent pressure is designed not to work correctly. West coast guys have been using hollow core for a long time. This is the way they've standardized the process. Clearly you've spent more than ten minutes with the line and still haven't figured out how to use it correctly.
