This excerpt presents only one side of the case though. There were more elements at play than just pay demands. Having said that, I fully agree that women should earn equal pay in all strata of business and entertainment. Gender should never be a parameter in the determination of a pay packet.

Because, curiously, the same "let them be!" mindset doesn't apply when the person is Jane Fonda. (Not pointing fingers at you, Betzabe, but definitely at Megyn Kelly and others.) Years ago when she would advertise thigh master she was photographed walking out of a plastic surgeons office after having liposuction. She should be Real and honest with people about how she continues to look great.
HRT is not extremely dangerous. That is bogus. It is the first line of treatment for menopause. You are simply replacing the estrogen you made on your own all your life. The current guidelines are NAMS: North American Menopause Society.
Plastic surgery is an important tool for people who have deformities, or accidents so they can live happy lives, but Hollywood is nuts with it......why can't they age gracefully, she was a beautiful woman, who I'm certain would still be without any surgery.....it's such a shame.

That is correct. She wanted as much pay as John Ritter, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, the reason she got fired was because she was making up excuses for missing a show until they gave her the raise. So, if you didn't show up for your job, you would probably be fired like the rest of us. At the beginning of the fifth season in 1980, Somers demanded a hefty raise from $30,000 to $150,000 an episode and 10 percent ownership of the show's profit. She loved doing the character, "Chrissy", and she ended up having to go to counseling after all was said and done. Few of us could ask for 5 times what we're making plus 10% of the profits. So, let's just keep that in mind. Most of the fault should go to Alan Hamil. At the end of the series of Three's Company, when they were looking for a "girlfriend" for Jack Tripper to make the show "Three's a Crowd", Somers contacted the show and suggested herself playing Chrissy. The producers of the show said no.
Yeah. Alan seems very controlling. What about Janet? She was part of Three's Company too! If the two of them had banded together- maybe they could have both stood up for better pay!

Sometimes, when you like what you're doing as Suzanne did because it gave her a lot of recognition in the public, it's best to keep the status quo. It showed that the show was able to continue without her for another four or so years.

People really shouldn't leave hit shows. At one point, Ted Danson was making about $430k per episode, and Shelley would have been making the same. I read something once where Ted makes $10M a year just from Cheers reruns. Yes, Joyce was terrific on the show. They all were, and they were all very close. I think that Suzanne was also looking for that iconic status that Farrah had, but Farrah was in a league all by herself.

She had some type of new fangled facelift...using some “natural” technique...I’ve forgotten what but it really changed her face...she doesn’t look the same...forget the aging...she just lost her face..I’m at the age that I could do a Facelift but a lot of my friends had them and within a few years u have this kind of odd look..part of face looks pulled tight and then skin around it sags..I just don’t know if you look that much better..maybe for a few years..I don’t like that pulled look...I have two friends that have had them and they are my age but look no,younger than those of us who haven’t...some small things like a little tuck here or there...maybe remove bags from under eyes..do thermage...facial peels..moderate botox...works as well and looks more natural..usually...fillers also can look terrible. Esp the lip fillers ...awful looking nearly always There..

Take pride in your real age. If you are seventy, there is no reason to be ashamed to look seventy. Don't get caught up in the youth obsession of Western culture. She deserved the same $$ as Ritter! The show was never the same without her. They should have been a team like the Friends cast where they all made the same $$, even though Jennifer Anniston was the biggest star. Typical, women are team members whereas some men have huge egos and won't standup for their co-workers.

That is correct. She wanted as much pay as John Ritter, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, the reason she got fired was because she was making up excuses for missing a show until they gave her the raise. So, if you didn't show up for your job, you would probably be fired like the rest of us. At the beginning of the fifth season in 1980, Somers demanded a hefty raise from $30,000 to $150,000 an episode and 10 percent ownership of the show's profit. She loved doing the character, "Chrissy", and she ended up having to go to counseling after all was said and done. Few of us could ask for 5 times what we're making plus 10% of the profits. So, let's just keep that in mind. Most of the fault should go to Alan Hamil. At the end of the series of Three's Company, when they were looking for a "girlfriend" for Jack Tripper to make the show "Three's a Crowd", Somers contacted the show and suggested herself playing Chrissy. The producers of the show said no.
Yeah. Alan seems very controlling. What about Janet? She was part of Three's Company too! If the two of them had banded together- maybe they could have both stood up for better pay!

It didn't bother John that Suzanne asked for more money because his contract stated that he was to make more than Joyce and Suzanne. Sometimes, when you like what you're doing as Suzanne did because it gave her a lot of recognition in the public, it's best to keep the status quo. It showed that the show was able to continue without her for another four or so years.

People really shouldn't leave hit shows. At one point, Ted Danson was making about $430k per episode, and Shelley would have been making the same. I read something once where Ted makes $10M a year just from Cheers reruns. Yes, Joyce was terrific on the show. They all were, and they were all very close. I think that Suzanne was also looking for that iconic status that Farrah had, but Farrah was in a league all by herself.

Laverne and Shirley were both equal stars of their show. Roseanne was the star of her own show. Suzanne Somers was NOT the star of Three's Company. She was popular, yes. However, she was part of an ensemble cast with JOHN RITTER as the main star. Her demands were unreasonable and she disrupted production. She was selfish and deserved to get fired.
The show went down the ratings when she left. She was the star presence.

She had some type of new fangled facelift...using some “natural” technique...I’ve forgotten what but it really changed her face...she doesn’t look the same...forget the aging...she just lost her face..I’m at the age that I could do a Facelift but a lot of my friends had them and within a few years u have this kind of odd look..part of face looks pulled tight and then skin around it sags..I just don’t know if you look that much better..maybe for a few years..I don’t like that pulled look...I have two friends that have had them and they are my age but look no,younger than those of us who haven’t...some small things like a little tuck here or there...maybe remove bags from under eyes..do thermage...facial peels..moderate botox...works as well and looks more natural..usually...fillers also can look terrible. Esp the lip fillers ...awful looking nearly always

Instead of cutting Suzanne down for her face, why don't we applaud her for her 50 year old marriage that has more life in it than 100 marriages combined after this time. She has fought growing up with alcoholism, being fired publicly from her hit TV show to make an example of her and all women a LESSON (sacrificial lamb - a woman of course). She survived her house burning down, cancer and every obstacle thrown in her path and she did it with grace. This is a trailblazer and a true Way Shower in our world. Let's applaud her for all the forward thinking things she has done in her career and that she has overcome cancer. This is not true. She wanted 150,000.00 Per episode and 10 percent of the back end....NOT what the men was getting paid. True that John Ritter made more, BUT HE was considered the "Star" of the show...Not Suzann Somers. She made 30,000.00 Per episode, they agreed to give her a 5000.00 raise per episode,and she refused it. After that she refused to show up for work which is why they replaced her. Bad work ethic and greed is being a "Feminist" then maybe that is not such a good thing.
