    Haha, I was in the middle of my comment when I heard my name and jumped 🤣 What I was actually typing was that in burda style you have the standard sizes (36-42) usually a couple going one size smaller (so 34-42), usually at least one for shorter women (sizes 17 or18 to 26), and for taller (sizes 68 or 72 to a 100) and they usually do a section with larger sizes (they have special issues as well 'burda extra' for larger sizes and 'little women' for shorter ones). You have covered it all really well Michelle, it's a great video for anyone who's hesitating and has no idea how to go about it 😀
    I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with burda, but the more I use it, the more I love it 😘

      Haha!! I must admit the sizes were really confusing me 🤣 some have one set then another has different ones and then the petite and tall ones 🤯 thanks for letting me know! I didn’t even know they did other magazines too!! X

      @@SewingBunny I grew up with Burda 🤣 my mum and my sister were using it long before I even thought of sewing. I still have my mum's old magazines in German 🤣🤣🤣 anyway, it's a brilliant video, everything is well explained and I'm sure it'll help the undecided 😁

    This is so interesting. I always see people talking about these magazines. You get a lot of patterns for your buck! I have made a couple of Burda Easy patterns (not from magazines). The thing that I would say is that quite often they are "easy" as they don't have much fitting. Very boxy and baggy and then they rely on belts if you want to have some shape! That said, it might just the ones that I did! Fab video x

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      whateverkatiesews I agree with you on that! The patterns in the easy magazine are also not very fitted and use simple pieces which I suppose is why they are easy! We need them to create a Burda Intermediate magazine 🤣 where they have all the range of difficulties but just with separate pattern sheets and full instructions like the Burda easy 🤣 however I suppose that’s what the paper patterns do the job for thinking about it 😂 xx

    I have both. Recently made a casual cardi from Burda Easy. Very easy and turned out perfectly. Instructions were very clear.
    I'm yet to try the regular Burda mag but I do have one and the road map patterns are a bit intimidating to me but like you I plan to give it a try too.

      Brilliant 😁 great you have given it a go! Yes the Burda style is a bit intimidating with all those crisscross lines but I’m sure it can’t be that bad as so many people use the magazine 🤣 I hope to get something made up to prove that I can do it.....or just get totally confused haha x

    I'd really like to see how you get on sewing the patterns from the magazines. I'm a beginner sewist and like you have a couple of Burda magazines, but have not been brave enough to try sewing anything from them yet. I use burda quite often. The garments are very well drafted, especially the trousers. They always fit me without to much trouble. I have a bunch of burda easy magazines but I find myself not using them a lot. The styles are very simple and I also think the sizing is not as good as the regular burda, so I would recommend really measuring the pattern pieces. Burda also has the workshop pages where you get detailed instructions for one or two pieces per magazine

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joyce Thissen oh that’s good to know! Thanks for the heads up 😁 someone else mentioned that the easy patterns are more boxy probably to avoid having to get them to fit so it’s something I will bear in mind! Hopefully I can get her on with the Burda style enough to start using that x

    Practicing burda style pattern with variety’s and more pattern in the same price as the easy virgin is good and better ,but I’m sure for beginners or only hobby of sewing is way better to start with the easy burda I guess sewers will be more comfortable and their next step could be the burda style

    Thanks for your review Michelle! I didn’t realize there was a Burda Easy. I usually buy my Burda Style patterns online as they are about $5.99 Cad and the seam allowance is included. What is the difference in cost between the magazines and does one put out more issues per year? You certainly have to watch the sizing. I managed to purchase 2 tall patterns and I’m 5’4” so there will be some adjustments to be made.

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Donna Woods yes the patterns you get online are from the magazines but you pay $5.99 per pattern when the magazine with all the patterns in costs a little bit more (around $9 I think?) but you have to do all the manual work 🤣 if you only like 1 or 2 patterns every now an again then just buying the patterns online maybe the way to go but if you quite like having a paper magazine to flick through then you get more patterns for your money with the paper copy. The Burda Style is monthly and the Burda Easy is every other month I believe 😁 yes the sizing you do have to look out for! X

    Could explain what the tall size of 69-100 means? It doesn’t make any sense to me at all? I am 6’ tall so often have to do all sorts of pattern adjustments I.e shoulder to bust, bust darts, bust to waist, waist to crotch etc etc so having a tall pattern sounds very appealing but what does the 69-100 refer to?

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Penny Mack sure yeah it’s not the easiest thing to explain but basically you have a separate size chart for the tall patterns with different numbers. So a tall size 72 is the equivalent to a Burda size 36 or the next size up is a tall size 76 and that is equivalent to a Burda size 38 etc.. so the tall sizes are the same ranges but just with different numbers....I hope that makes sense! The problem with burda magazines is their sizes , too small especially the waist . The ‘ normal sizes ‘are usually incorporated in their plus size section which is so limited in choice and only offering a few styles in each magazine . To buy a magazine and yr only option is to choose from a couple of styles is not feasible. They also do individual patterns on their Burda websites of USA, UK , Russia, Italy. However although I prefer these patterns they STILL do not extend their size range !
    They really need to update their size range and I am sure their sales would increase tremendously .

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree! Independent and commercial pattern companies have become much more inclusive over the years but Burda magazine seem to be stuck with limited sizes. Let’s hope that they realise that so that more people can enjoy their magazines xx
