Sounds amazing. They recently made a plugin version of the VLC, an A/B comparison video would be awesome.

I’d like to hear the VNE vs a CL1B on vocals one day..

the winner is retro 176, its more versatile, colorful and it can configured to be clb1 / la2a / vne... even 1176.

Really cool units! Also waiting for your album Chris. Your own songs or covers, It doesn't matter! Love the songs in your other channel.

Thanks man! I'm actually going to change the whole channel. I'll talk a little bit about it in the coming weeks. More performance then geartalk. Cheers!

How was the drum loop playing thru the VNE? A mono drum loop?

Is there a real difference the DW Fearn VT-2 vs the Hazelrigg VLC? If so, which one do you prefer?

The VT-2 is a dual channel unit while the VLC is single channel but also features the inductor EQ and Tube DI. As far as the preamps, it is the same circuit design using parts from the same parts bins and handbuilt by the same people.

I downloaded the raw files and compared the VLC to the VT-2. They sound like 2 completely different preamps. The VLC pushes the midrange and it’s slightly heavier. The VT-2 has a very relaxed neutral sound. It’s very smooth and it almost feels like it creates a 3D space around the mix. It seems like putting sources through the VT-2 automatically makes it sound better. But the unit is a bit overpriced in my opinion.

@@elitepapercuts The two units can surely sound very different based on if or how the EQ is applied, no doubt.

How is this compared to the redd 47?

Jesus, nobody seems to know how to compress a vocal anymore. On Every demo of this unit, the stack is way to fast and HPF no engaged. Vocals sound cloudy as hell like that....
