    FINANCIAL COACH MASTER TRAINING FULL REVIEW (and why I chose to leave) I wanted to do a full review of Dave Ramsey's Financial Coach Master Training because it was one of my first big investments in my business in 2018 and I get a lot of questions about my experience and eventually why I wanted to separate myself from the Ramsey Solutions brand. I also go in depth on the ongoing membership upsell known as the Ramsey Preferred Coach Program. Toward the end of the video I’ll also reveal why I ultimately chose to leave the program and why I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who is wanting to build a full time, online financial coaching practice. PLUS what I recommend instead. Over the past 2.5 almost 3 years I’ve seen so MANY money coaches get burnt out. I’ve seen so many finance coaches pivot when financial coaching “isn’t working” and they start doing business coaching or life coaching or mindset, whatever it may be. I’m here to tell you this. The issue isn’t financial coaching and the issue isn’t your clients. IT is 100% possible to build a thriving business where you attract BOMB clients that you absolutely LOVE working with. Coaching shouldn’t be a self sacrificing act. You shouldn’t do financial coaching out of guilt or shame. The root of a lot of this is a twisted mindset when it comes to wealth. Below you can find a link to more info on my Become a Coach Program, this program is for you if you want to help change lives while working from home and make more than your day job.
    I teach you how to build an audience, how to sell out of integrity, and how to launch like a boss so that it’s a no brainer YES from your future clients. These are the exact same systems and procedures that I use in the my business that have generated over 150,000 in revenue. You can also find my curriculum on my website that walks you through all of the topics that we cover in my program like target market, offer definition, business finances, sales calls, lead magnet, funnels, branding, batching content, analytics… There’s not many programs out there for financial coaches and this is the ONLY one that offers ALL of those things. This is a one stop shop for teachers at heart who want to build a coaching empire. I don’t play small and neither do my coaches. We have a very real opportunity here to change our neighborhoods, our societies, our countries, and our world through financial coaching.
    I appreciate your open mindedness watching this video and please know that it was not an easy video to do but definitely an honest and necessary one.

    Great video! I just found your channel today and I love it. I have considered doing the FCMT program but I’m glad I came across this video. I do not fully align with Dave’s beliefs and I have also consumed a lot of Dave Ramsey content so the training program may not as valuable as I would expect. Thank you!

    Haha - don't mind me and all my comments, I'm just binge watching your content. So I have to say your review of FCMT is fascinating to me. I took FCMT and have a review posted as well. In my review I pretty much sing its praises. I took it after only watching Dave's TH-cam channel and reading several Ramsey personality books. I took it to build my confidence to leave a corporate job and start as a completely green coach.
    From that perspective the content was really enlightening and increased my confidence. Incidentally I did FPU because it was a freebie from FCMT and my review of that pretty much says not to take it if you've binged his channel and read several of his books - so much like this review of FCMT.
    Anyway, I launched my coaching business 2 months ago, and now I'm grappling with all the things you're calling out in this video - CRM's, social media marketing, re-creating personal branded forms, sales and meeting scripts. I simply didn't know that those things were missing when I took FCMT, and I never did pursue RPC.

    • @FinancialCoachJess
      @FinancialCoachJess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotcha, I think your experience is not unlike many others who finish FCMT but realize what all they are still not equipped to do. I’ve got a video coming out next Monday on how to get your first paying clients that I think you will find very helpful!

    So I’m now subscribed and binge-watching lol. I’ve never taken Dave’s course. I have, however, sat through a conference many moons ago (over twenty to be exact). I was a financial advisor at the time and his program was the “competition.” There was a lot I liked at the time, the envelope system in particular. What I discovered I enjoyed the most in my job was helping people get out of debt and move forward. So years later I became an accredited financial counselor through AFCPE. (FANTASTIC program!) I loved being a financial counselor, but then family obligations came along and I let my accreditation lapse. I’ve since taught personal finance to teens at our homeschool co-op and have become a volunteer with Compass Catholic for couples and/or singles.. You are reminding me how much I miss this field.

    WOW! Thank you so much for your candid review regarding FCMT. I'm passionate about financial literacy and was about to take the plunge and make the purchase. I've been following Dave Ramsey for a bit of time and have taken FPU once. Accordingly, I consider myself a "Dave Ramsey Light" practitioner with a slightly different philosophy around credit cards and new vs used cars. Your transparency and analysis of the program not only answered my questions, it gave me a sense of peace that my gut was on the right track regarding the potential heartache down the road (since I truthfully can't practice or preach 100% of the principles). Thanks again!

    Hi Jess, just came across your TH-cam. I'm a Ramsey MFC (also a RPC but likely leaving in 2021) and agree with you on your points. When I did the FMCT, I was in one of the last in-person groups and had training in Brentwood, TN. So we actually did get some live teaching by Dave and Chris Hogan and the other in-house coaches. It was very valuable at the time. I would have been disappointed with anything less for that price.

    Saved me 1500 bucks for Dave Ramsey program. I almost booked it yesterday but something told me to wait. Then today I almost did but it just didn’t feel right. What I keep thinking about the way some of the coaches talked to us and answered our questions on the “learn more about the Ramey solution” They were condescending, making you feel dumb and I just didn’t like that. And the people on the call just broke in front of them as they did that. It was interesting to see and feel. But I still ignored that feeling. Tonight it kept tagging at me so I decided to look up being a financial coach TH-cam and found you. This is what happens when you listen to that voice :) some call it God some call it but some call it inner voice. Point is I listened to it and it saved me money.
    I look forward to your program and if that fits in my budget best believe I will register.

    You just saved my wife and I close to $2,000 with this video! I'm a huge Dave Ramsey fan, have listened to him for years and have also been through FPU twice. Was thinking of investing in FCMT as I've helped a few people by introducing them to the baby steps and every dollar and I loved doing it.
    Was hoping to begin financial coaching as side work with the hopes of it turning full time. Besides the financial investment in FCMT I had my reservations about whether or not I would gain new information/skills needed.
    Like you, I've read the books, and listened to and watched countless hours of Dave Ramsey and team. They're awesome, I have nothing bad to say about them but if it's mostly everything I already know from years of listening then it would not be a good investment for us. Probably a great investment to someone newer to Dave Ramsey and team.

    Thanks for posting this! I'm glad I found it. I've been contemplating whether to enroll in FCMT since August. My main question is were there any other financial coach training programs you took besides FCMT and could you still call yourself a Financial Coach without any type of certification? I feel like I need to take FCMT or FCA just to have that completion of certification. Another question is how is your coach program different from FCA?

    • @FinancialCoachJess
      @FinancialCoachJess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions! I took several other programs (and continue to higher other coaches and invest in my business) but fcmt was the only “financial coach” program that I took. It’s largely unregulated so no cert needed. My program is VERY different from fcmt and FCA is structure and content. Feel free to find out more on my website! There’s def a need for more coaches! The key is finding your specific ideal client snd niche. I do kind of agree with you about the redundancy of the content. What I’ve learned on this journey is the current information is the best. For me what’s working is all of the personalities together. Basically, I feel I can start a business or coaching through experience and reference. And yes, most of the information you want to share is already out there.

      No I haven’t. But I am a big consumer of Ramsey products and I agree that it’s the same information over and over. I definitely feel like I have the information part down pact as far as a plan to debt freedom and building wealth. My biggest thing is getting my questions answered for some other complicated stuff as my life has been very unorthodox. I still haven’t truly connected with anyone or any 1 thing that has the information I feel like I need to really catapult my journey. But at the same time I’m learning that through experience, and results I can tell my story and if I wanted to I could create a side business with just what I have now.

    Thanks for this video, I wish I would of watched this before we committed to a financial coach that costs $1800 for 6 months. We thought it was only $300 but since it’s based on a monthly program, the cost is $1800 so we are trying to figure out if this is the right program for us. We already know how to budget and working on baby step 2 so we are not sure what else they can offer us. Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Great video Jess - I’m still in the hobby phase, helping friends and family and exploring the possibility of a career as a financial coach. I haven’t taken any FC training yet. I’m looking at FCMT, FCA, and now your course. I’ve heard on Financial Coaches Unite that, like you say, FCMT is extremely light on the business set-up side of FC. I’m wondering if this is because Ramsey Solutions also has Entreleadership. Did the FCMT try to funnel you into Entreleadership as a next step?

    • @FinancialCoachJess

    I found your video researching the FCMT program that I was considering joining. Sounds like your coaching is geared towards business building and not fulfillment. I know everyones financial situation is different I was hoping to find a good outline of info to follow for the different aspects one might cover in the fulfillmet of the actual coaching with a client. I have no experience with any of Dave Ramseys teaching so dont really have any knowledge or curriculum of my own to put financial coaching into practice. What would you suggest?

    • @FinancialCoachJess
      @FinancialCoachJess  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would start with your very first client which was you! How did you get out of debt? What strategies did you put into place to save? How did you stay motivated? Accountable? Then I would start reading/watching videos. My approach to finances is very different from Dave’s. Ramit Sethi is another great finance guy (his book is my fav). Start looking at different perspectives and learning more about where people need help. I do cover curriculum building in my program and how it directly correlates to your ideal client. There is so much free info out there on how to ditch debt snd build wealth, if you’re not feeling confident, I would start there.

    I'm currently going through FCMT and do live by the "Dave Ramsey principles" (which aren't really his principles like he owns them; they're just basic life truths) but even I was turned off by the idea of paying for the RPC for the same reasons you mentioned. If I'm going to launch my own practice then I'd like to be the actual freaking boss of my own practice. No disrespect to Dave and his company but if they can make you, they can break you. For me, the whole point of launching my own business is to get neck-breathers off of me, regardless of whether we see eye to eye or not haha.

    Gald I saw your video before I bought the Dave Ramsey program because I believe there are many financial ways to build wealth and protect your family. How does your program differ from Dave's? I'm looking into the business to balance out my financial offerings to help families.

    • @FinancialCoachJess
      @FinancialCoachJess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi, Jeff. Great question, I'm glad you asked. Two big differences.
      The first being the content. I've built it to help my coaches get paying clients and start their business off in a sustainable way (having automated systems, best practices, identifying an ideal client, etc.) I don't focus much on financial concepts with them because there's so much free info available for how to pay off debt and build wealth. What I found most coaches were needing was help getting clients and actually building their business. We go over the specific concepts for their individual client but that varies vastly among all my coaches!
      The second big difference is delivery. FCMT is a self paced course as I explained in the video. Right now, my program consists of high touch, 1-1 sessions so everything is tailored to my coaches. I meet weekly with my coaches throughout the program so there is no guess work and no overwhelm for them. We simply move the needle forward each week, and the support + accountability has been incredible for seeing results quickly.

    I was wondering what the pros a cons of Ramsey FMCT were and was it right for me. Dave Ramsey is enjoying the fruits of his labor after he and others have worked for years are now enjoying semi retirement.
    The Ramsey name is being rehashed, offering no new content.
    Unfortunately, people will be buying this because of the Ramsey name and nothing else. 😕
    I was a part of a mega Baptist church located in Memphis TN back in 2004 whose paster Adrian Roger's and the rest of the leadership sponsored Dave Ramsey workshops every year, meaning that congregation members had to buy Financial Peace University materials. Dave Ramsey himself showed up and shared his testimonial, which you've heard hundreds of times, but back then, I was naive and didn't know better, and even followed the Debt snowball effect, which did work after 7 years I became debt free.
    Dave Ramsey is a professional salesman who's as charismatic as they come . Remember Bill Clinton and how popular he was as our president.
    Because of the popularity and branding of the Ramsey family name, and since their reputation isn't tarnished the organization realizes that people will be spending money on materials in the hopes of meeting him only to be let down.

    I can see why you think FCMT was too basic on the info, and lacking in the business end.
    This is besides the point, but I felt the same after purchasing Ken Coleman's career assessment, and reading his The Proximity Principle book. Dave Ramsey promotes him as the career guru, but I disagree. I felt the material in the book was broad and too general. The career recommendations from the assessment were confusing to me. Some were just not right for me. I was left very disappointed after reading the book and completing the assessment, which cost me $50. I felt I got no ROI, since I am no closer getting a job.
