Mosquitoes and ticks - that's the NorthWoods for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan from May through early September. Head nets and permethrin are important tools in hiking the NCT and IAT. Great documentary videos. Just now getting into it and really liking your style.
Thank You, Yea lessons were learned on this trail for Midwest hiking that is for sure. Going to definitely revamp some of the hiking gear and necessities for future hikes around this area. Also thanks for the info on time of year too for these areas, that helps some planning aspects!
Holy crap that's a ton of mosquitoes 🦟 😱
Great video👍
Yea mosquito game was BRUTAL!!!
I recommend a head net and highest concentration deet bug spray you can find (90+%) for the mosquitoes. Hope you enjoy the trail. It will be different than what you’re used to.
Head net will also help with the flys which can be just as bad this time of year.
That is precisely why I'm starting Sept 19th. The mosquito is Wisconsin's state bird
That’s no lie!!! This trail would definitely be better to start later in the season. Happy Trails, hope the vids help!
@@HikingAmerica I've definitely been following your hike. I'm just 19 days from making my start in St. Croix Falls. Putting the final touches to the pack and food supply. I'm 44 and will only be doing 20+. If you dont mind, in the future I might have some specific questions in regard to the northern part of the trail between Lublin and the big turn south. I really appreciate your vids. Thanks
Oh man. Hang in there. Enjoy your videos.
dont think I could handle that without some bug netting for my face
Those mosquitoes were terrible anywhere in Wisconsin due to all of the rain we've been getting this summer!
Here yellow blazing is good!
Watch out for those snowmobile trails. They will throw you off trail really easily if not paying attention.
I have been trying man, trying. Despite the horrible camera skills, your talking more than showing sights, and the corny "sweets" and "peace" and everything.
I can't do it any more. You decided to hike a mid-west, forested trail in late August. You have trail guides ... but you didn't know about mosquitoes? You weren't prepared in anyway?
I suspect you thought it would be a simple ass trail because it isn't through the mountains or something.
If i wanted to watch someone complain for 40 minutes I would have just talked to my family.
Yea no worries man. I didn’t plan for this trail at all which was definitely a mistake. Just either mute me or don’t watch the videos? I also was trying to be conscious about the beginning of the trail to not be a bummer as much but I guess it didn’t work....
Wow dude! Who pissed in your cornflakes? That is the second comment dispareging Constantine's skills. like he said, you can do two things, either hit mute or don't watch, ain't rocket science!
