When Gaga comes in with "I'm off the deep end, watch as i dive in, i'll never meet the ground" her voice penetrates through the entire body and into your bones. She has that powerful of a voice. Truly gifted she is.
Great way to put it! Yes her voice vibrates and penetrates into my bones and soul. I get choked up every time, it's so powerful. Gaga has never been so beautiful.

Yes it was Gagas wish to do it like that and Bradley luckily trusted her with that 💕
All the singing in the movie was requested by gaga herself to be live signing, as she dislikes the idea of lyp sync through a movie, so Bradley had to take musical classes for over a year, so he could achieve the voice that he has now
Joao Santos also the concert parts throughout were filmed at Gagas actual concerts
They apparently went to music festivals and asked for slots, but for the purpose of secrecy of the film, the volume of speakers were turned down.
They did the same in Les Miz as well if I recall correctly. I love that dedication to the craft.

A Star Is Born freaking destroyed me. But it was worth it. Always Remember Us This Way is hugely underrated from the album. Hope you enjoyed it when you saw it x

These vocals were not done in a studio. Lady Gaga insisted that they recorded it live during filming. She refuses to lip-sync if she doesn’t have to. There’s no lip syncing here.
Bradly Cooper also does all of his own guitar playing in the movie.
Just come from the Movie and the version in the film and the version on TH-cam is different. There's no violin or heavy accompaniment that you hear here @ 3:10 in the film. Definitely sounded better in the studio.

I could see doubting Cooper was live. But you can definitely tell Gaga was live. If that was studio recorded and dubbed, the engineer would have to be hella genius to get that mix of background noise, echo and breathing. I'm sure there was plenty of post recording sweetening though. Even Gaga doesn't turn that down.

Hi. Just to fill you in about a fact in the production of the film. All the singing in the film was recorded live, not "studio generated".

Shes does a great job of portraying a stage-frightened person even though she's far from being one in real life.
That was probably because she may have been just a bit outside of her comfort zone.
Of that's the case, it was to her advantage
I agree! I thought “man she looks like she’s trying not to barf.” 😂 Such a good job! It made it easier to empathize and think, “Oh man I’d be freaking out too!” In fact, I covered my eyes a second before she did, and I still have that instinct every time I watch it, lol! There’s a certain kind of coping mechanism where you do the hard thing (don’t freeze or run) but then after, you do freak out, lol. Like if your car is starting to spin, you correct and get safe, and only then, you FREAK OUT. I feel like it’s a mini-episode of “Oh my gosh I got through that! I have to keep it together for this next bit. You can do it, just sing!!” Those little subtle details of how she played it were really very useful in getting into her character.
As a singer/performer, yes, she is in her absolute comfort zone. But remember this. They had MINIMAL stage time to do these shots with "Shallow", and she is....Acting also. So there is an element of stress and unfamiliarity for her that comes through on camera. Not to mention the fact that she and Ally had that trepidation factor with her "looks" and Gaga went absolute minimal makeup through most of the move....my interpretation.
Yeah, the first time I saw this footage I thought "okay, there you have it: she CAN act". That look at the end, like "WTF just happened?" is golden.
I still can't believe Clint Eastwood questioned her placement in the film. Lady Gaga is such a raw talent.
I went to see this movie three times, because I loved the acoustics and how loud the music was, apart from the storyline. I got huge shivers which brought up,tears because of Gaga’s vocals. This movie‘s going to be timeless
This movie broke me , i love how she hides herself but then she get's on stage and enjoys the whole thing and let's those vocals fly out ,i cried and that's not even the sad part of the movie lol , her voice is just amazing and shows emotion (':

The reason why they do not harmonize well is that in the movie she does not rehearse before the time.
Yes, he caught her totally flat footed! She sings this to him in a parking lot the night after they met, and he has his 'people' bring her back stage at his concert, he starts singing the song, introduces her, and they push her in front of this huge crowd for the first time, and a star is born.

I like the moment she punches through spontaneously hits the one note @ starting with "I'm on the deep end..."
Her reaction + facial expressions are so pure, especially during Gaga's parts. I felt the same way!!
In the movie the vocals where all live. Bradley can really sing, it’s not “studio generated”. He took vocal lessons, but in an interview they said that the first time he sang with Gaga she was really impressed. Thank you for reacting, have a lovely day!
Bradley Cooper said that his voice performance was a tribute to Kris Kristofferson and Sam Elliot as he was aiming for a voice like the both of them.
He drew inspiration from Eddie Vedder for this role too.
I'm a singer and I can't control myself from singing...no way I ever listen to this song without the urge to belt it out with them.

Bradley spent a year working with Willy Nelson’s son on his vocal, learning the guitar and general stagecraft and performance. He actually worked to drop both his speaking and singing voice about an octave from his “normal” voice and it just kills as a result. And Gaga’s performance is so natural it’s just incredible.
I cried so much to this song!!! And then I saw the film and I’m still crying. And it’s weeks later. The story touches my soul and my family. Much love from Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪❤️

Just want to mention, it's hard not to notice Bradley's sparkly eyes every time he looks at her. Either great acting but there was some feeling behind it. A love story either in friendship or otherwise I don't know..hard for me not to notice.

Gaga acutally told him some time ago that she will make that film with him if he takes vocal classes and actually will be able to sing that live :). I think knowing that makes it much more touching and authentic... I love it!

Scifi Geek it was actually Bradley’s idea if you watch the interviews. She had a bit of makeup on but Bradley insisted that it was that way as he wanted the movie to be as raw as possible.

Been to see it three times at the cinema and this scene made me blub like a baby. Easily went straight to my top 5 films of all time. It really hasn't received what is should have done so far in awards season but we all love it and that's what matters. I liked watching this because I wish wish wish I could have the feeling of watching it for the first time again. ❤
LOVE watching the analysis from an actual singer ! Just as an aside, after seeing the film, we come to know that she sang the bare bones melody of this song to him 1-2 nights before , and he pulled her onto the stage to sing it in entirety impromptu. So in essence, her character is feeling her way through his arrangement. It makes the chorus so much more impactful: it's as if they are reaching out to each other in a dimly lit room, and eventually they not only connect but fall into lockstep. Powerful stuff, indeed ❤️

the last 40 or so seconds of “I’ll never love again” in the film version where Bradley sings is really amazing. Goosebumps, you’d never expect that voice out of him but you can tell how hard he worked
