This is where the biggest betrayal happens. Where Stukov realized that Duran is infested that he had to retreat to Braxis to activate the Psi Disrupter. Where the seeds of the UED's downfall are planted.
The broken radio gag is the cherry on top of an already great mission. Returning to Aiur, a complete free for all between all 3 races, Mengsk being harbored by Raynor and the Protoss, the feeling like the UED were truly taken by surprise and on the back foot. Just a fun chaotic level all around.
My favorite mission in Brood War. Terran, Zerg and Protoss all at each other's throats makes for a chaotic but fun mission. Fenix and his forces were relentless here, and man, those are a lot of archons.
Duran jokes aside, imagine how awkward the mission is when the Zerg AI becomes super aggressive and ends up decimating the Protoss defenders and the command center itself. Though for sure in the original the most they can do is spew Plague on defenses while sending just enough lings and hydras just to not overwhelm the warp gate. Also, corsairs on Aiur lol. Did they just open the warp gate from Shakuras and be like "yo Fenix, here's some corsairs as a little Nerazim gift".
Stukov tried to warn DuGalle not to use those tin cans on a string, but it was the most advanced communication technology they could scavenge from the Dominion.
Meanwhile, on StarCraft Alternate… The CZP pursue Draliska and Raynor all the way to Tarsonis, which is still swarming with Protoss. Three Pack Leaders are assigned to penetrate the Terran base there and destroy Draliska's Lair while Dehaka and Raszagal keep the surrounding Protoss at bay as they respond to the local Warp Gate's activation. As soon as that is achieved however, Raszagal's Brood moves out of position to let the Protoss clash with the Primal Zerg Packs and give the resistance time to escape through the Warp Gate and destroy it. Dehaka demands an explanation, but unlike canon Duran, she doesn't bother pretending there are any communication problems. As a result, the Primal decides to head off somewhere to take care of something while the Pack Leaders on the field are ordered to pull back.
I was wondering why this mission looked so much better; this is a coop mission and there’s two times the things. Starcraft always looks so cool when it’s big 150 supply versus big 150 supply :3
Something I question is stukov informed the captain of everything at the end warning duran and the captain "Yourself" of the matter..why is it that "Yourself" the captain decided to keep your mouth shut and allow all that to happen?
I still don't get why didn't they just destroy or at least fortify the warp gate to prevent escape if it's closer to the UED base compared to the command center? Did the thought of Raynor and Mengsk escaping through it never crossed anyone's mind?
My theory is that the UED may have limited or next to little knowledge about Protoss technology. Sure, they may have engaged Artanis' forces during Battle of Braxis, but the UED didn't have time to analyze the protoss and thus, they probably have left them unharmed. Remember that from start of the UED campaign, there has never been an enemy Protoss faction you face until this mission, and this mission is the only one time you face the Protoss and never again, as the UED have already gained considerable knowledge about the Zerg thanks to Duran.
@@lyonvensa the adjutant in the opening dialogue identified that it is a warp gate but didn't explain its use nor DuGalle and Stukov asking where would that warp gate leads to, or Duran explaining another technobabble about the Protoss. Dialogue also suggest that sometime during their expedition the UED _may_ have studied protoss way of life, but not tech, like DuGalle says: "I don't understand this. Why would the Protoss harbor these men?" This would imply that the UED must have obtained files related to the protoss and their culture, but they don't have enough time to study their tech, plus the fact that the nearby zerg broods pose a threat to their mission as well, and with DuGalle having Mengsk killed as their top priority objective, well... Then the warp gate gets reactivated in LotV and nom nomed Shakuras anyways lol.
@@kiraxbara456blitz6 technically yes, but in the player's perspective, there has never been a mission that lets you fight Protoss units until reaching this mission. And this is the only time you'll face the Protoss anyways while playing as UED.

Maybe because you're cutting this down to clips but the expansion for the Terrans has felt kinda tame compared to the original campaign. Maybe it's because you get Siege Tanks early or that Terrans just are able to scale up faster but the comically inconsistent difficulty has struck again.

In this mission I was planning to leave Commander Xena (Wolfsangel) on Aiur but hell, we needed him in the final mission.

I always liked sitting back in my base for some periods of time and just watch the zerg and protoss duke it out.
you know, I always wondered why the captain never did tell DuGalle about what happened here
Well, SC1 was just full of holes.
Maybe it's not the same Captain each mission.

We could have really needed the valkyries like in the very beggining of the journey
That might be the most archons Ive ever seen... They were everywhere and coming from all angles... WOW
The amount of colors used for the armies in this mission really reduced the options for the players here.
8:45 Captain: "I'm taking citizen Mengsk and The Man into custody, sir."
9:55 also Captain: "What massive zerg swarm were you talking about, sir?"
That should be the first of many attack waves since Stukov said their position will be overrun in 15 mins
Zerg what Zerg. I dont see any Zerg.

Damn Reavers, killing those poor beautiful medics just doing their jobs!
I remenber this mission , the IA use protoss or zerg army in revenge if you attack one of them(the oposite army) despite both be enemies.
KingLich still makes me laugh
Red Terrans are not Mengsk's forces, they're just Chinese UED forces.
